I was doing all the week day cooking, cleaning and childcare for two kids before my hospital stay quack. DH has admitted since he took over that it is harder than going to work and that he intends to do more in the house once I am able again, result!

quackojuliet · 16/11/2013 15:12

Good job you are able to rest a bit then another, and your dh is being supportive x

BookTart · 16/11/2013 15:25

Thanks to extra I have just eaten All of The Stilton in Tesco. It was lovely :)

Another, make sure you keep DH to that promise!

V. glad sultana is taking one for the team and going to Kiddicare. I'm terrified of that place!

I've had a week off work and am dreading going back. I've suddenly started having trouble sleeping because of hip pain, and can't imagine commuting for another three weeks is going to be much fun. Never mind, maybe I'll perk up a bit once I've eaten this packet of Viscounts...

enormouse · 16/11/2013 15:56

Did I miss the bit where someone said Stilton is ok???
Right, that's going on my online shop. Grin

Another what a result!
Book now I want viscounts. Are they the mint ones? Could you take some leave/holiday before your maternity leave kicks in?

Frizz1986 · 16/11/2013 16:01

Just woken from a snooze and cant believe how much has been going on.

Thanks for all the congrats. It is such a huge weight of our minds as although he still needs something for jan at least we will have some more money coming in until xmas so we can bulk back up our savings.

enormouse glad that you have finally got those iron tablets and that you will be complaining. Hopefully you can get some energy back for this last bit of the pg.

nature and angel would love to hear how the hypnobirthing classes go. My midwife suggeted them at the last app but its just a luxury we cant afford at the mo so going to have to rely on positive thinking, breathing, and distraction techniques to get through the pain. I really want to be able to do it just with gas and air, but my pain threshold is pretty low. Am positive i can do it though.

mrsg i love the xmas markets. We are going to manchester ones (we do every year) on 15th dec. i know it's pretty late and will be exhausting but have imax hobbit tickets for that day so hoping to combine the 2. I love all the yummy food and end up wanting to eat one of everything. My grandad was swiss as well so there are lots of familiar foods that are more novelty for other people. Sometimes it makes me well up remembering him when we go round.

sarahl sorry about the back pain getting bad. It sucks that it has come so close to you going. How long has the doc signed you off for? I hope that you manage to figure everything out with regards to your pay. Its all rather confusing isnt it.

Hope kiddicare is fun sultana I have never been so would have no idea what its like.

toby i wish i was a rebel. I have literally avoided everything, cured meats (unless cooked) cheeses, shellfish...... Cant wait to eat pate again! Oh and be careful moving everything!

Glad the pills are helping quack its nice when you just know all the peeing is due to baby poking u in the bladder!

Oh no tooth you should def write a letter or something. People need to specify the exact place so people dont miss it. Do you know if others missed it too?

another glad dh is looking after you and forcing you to rest. We need to be looking after ourselves at this point especially you so enjoy all the pancakes Smile

I went to town today and got the final free argos goodie bag, used boots points (i had £12 on a card i havent used in years) to get my minis for the bag and we used the m&s voucher from last xmas to get lunch so only spent money in primark getting my slippers and nursing pjs ready for d-day.

My boss is off this week at work but thankfully the other girl isnt and she is being really lovely to try and stop me getting stressed. She has 3 kids so she understands the need to slow down. It means that I know i can go to her if it gets too much and she'll support me. She is the one doing some of my mat cover too and she is picking it up really well (maybe too well) but thats a good thing as i know i'll still have a job when i go back.

Have my mat meeting on my own with the wages bloke this week. Have written out my 2 scenarios ready. One when i only take time off for the 39 weeks we get paid and then i add my hols on at the end (saving some for xmas) and the other when i take the full 52 weeks and then add hols to the end which would mean going back in mid feb. I think i am right with it all as your hols are full paid arent they and they cant give them to you during mat leave, they have to be after mat leave. Am i right that if i decided not to go back i would still get a full year of hols fully paid? My work only has basic mat leave (no extras) so i wouldnt owe them anything if i didnt return would i?

God it will be nice to have everything sorted and in writing (i hope) as with only 23 days left at work it needs doing. Why its taken so long i dont know. Keep thinking of my sister who at my point in her pg only ended up with 2 and a half weeks until he suddenly arrived. This fact is starting to scare me! (Am 32+1)

Toothfairy78 · 16/11/2013 16:22

Ooh book viscount biscuits. Not had those in years. Would go very nicely with a cuppa...and well done on eating all the Stilton in Tesco, lol!

Am having a lie down after my trip to town. Got a few bits, booked a hair appointment, just bumbled about generally. DH dropped me off and picked me up. He even dug out a gym ball from the cupboard and inflated it so I have something to bounce n lean forward on while watching tv. He's been very good today!

frizz not sure if others missed it or not. Guess I'll find out at NCT class on Monday. It's in stark contrast to our usual NCT lady who gives really good info and tells us where we can park etc. Would be funny if others went and sat outside the other wrong church!

Toby you are a complete rebel! Grin Be careful moving the furniture....hope the minion cake works out!

quack yay for antibs! Grin

tooth what a major pain in the ass!!! Hope u can get on another one...

another make the most of it! What a result your DH now understands and appreciates what you have been doing! Grin

book mmmm viscounts! Hope they were mint - they are mega addictive! What a shame u r now cursed with hip pain.

Well kiddicare was mainly successful - got most of the bits we went in for... however, two hours of walking around has buggered my pelvis and lower back. I was getting slower and slower and by the end I seriously considered crawling on my hands and knees! So xmas shopping next week should be interesting....

Everywhere is just manic at the moment! Shops are just chocka and I keep getting stuck in traffic! Wtf? Its the middle of frickin November....!

Just rewarding myself with a blood orange orange juice and lemonade! Not just any blood orange orange juice, M & S blood orange orange juice! Grin Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/11/2013 16:36

Afternoon all - we have internet! I can't believe how much I've missed it during the week!

frizz woohoo for mrfrizz and the job, that's ace news.

another hope you enjoy taking it easy for once and are feeling okay.

Can't remember other things, as only did a quick catch up. Still have loads of unpacking to do, and meant to go shopping for hospital bag bits today, but I'm feeling really low at the moment and couldn't motivate myself. DH is at a stag do, and I keep having these moments of doom where I think he'll get run over crossing the road or something. I don't know what's wrong with me, I'm usually pretty positive, but since he was in hospital, I'm fearful all the time. Someone hand me a grip, eh? Hmm

Sultanajo · 16/11/2013 16:53

humpty yay you are back!!! Bless ya worrying about your DH. Do u know, yesterday I was driving along to meet my mate and suddenly had an overwhelming feeling of "what if something happens to DH?" and just burst into uncontrollable panicky tears for the rest of the journey! Came from nowhere, so I can only imagine how you must be feeling after a real worry recently. Massive hugs! The stress you have had combined with crazy preggers hormones.... There is only one thing for it....comfort food....Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit

Sultanajo · 16/11/2013 16:55

Oh yes, had a lovely surprise this morning. My team of shift supervisors and the girls who are covering for me sent me pressies and cards thru the post which arrived this morning! It was so unexpected it made me bawl like a baby! What a lovely bunch they are! Really thoughtful! Grin

Sultanajo · 16/11/2013 16:59

humpty I also meant to say keep an eye on how you are feeling hun. Chances are it will pass and you will be back to your old self soon, but if it doesnt talk to someone. We are very much here for you also, so feel free to offload any worries on us. Sometimes just writing your feelings down can be very cathartic....Smile

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/11/2013 17:09

Thanks sultana - glad to know I'm not the only one with random crazy thoughts. Will keep an eye on it. You are very sweet. Smile

Percypiglet · 16/11/2013 17:33

Think the hormones ramp up again in third trimester, so think it's normal to be having more mood swings and teariness. I certainly am - I had a bout of crying yday brought on by selfish DH and insane level of tiredness.....Today things seem better, after a sleep. Hope you are feeling better soon Humpty.

Sultanajo · 16/11/2013 17:37

No you certainly arent humpty! After my mate had her baby, she was suddenly so worried something would happen to her DH she begged him for two days in a row not to go to work. It passed but at the time she felt absolutely frantic! Confused

AnotherStitchInTime · 16/11/2013 18:11

Yay for Internet humpty. I think in late pregnancy you suddenly feel very vulnerable and it is normal to be more emotional and hormonal as you near your 'time'.

fryingpantoface · 16/11/2013 19:03

I've turned really clingy and keep making sure dh isn't going to leave me, making sure he loves me, and making him promise not to die on me.

i think it's normal. I was like this with ds too.

sarahleanne · 16/11/2013 19:06

oh my god book viscounts!! legendary haha! I seriously have not had them in years.

another my dh had the kids in the 6 weeks holidays and he suddenly appreciated how much hard work it really is!

tooth That would have seriously pissed me off, I would of been raging.

Unfortunately I don't really know any of the mums at school as DS changed schools halfway through the year and the mums were already really clicky so I just keep myself to myself. If it was his old school I would of had help but nevermind.
I have been signed off for 2 weeks and then go straight onto my annual leave for 6 weeks.

DD's birthday went really well today but my god I am shattered now.
DH facetimed me while we sang her happy birthday Smile

I think I'm going to write a maternity leave list of things to do tonight.

All this hypnobirthing stuff intrigues me but I havn't really looked into it atall. I genuinely don't think it would help me as the pain is just so intense no amount of ho hummmming would le you ignore it. Maybe I am totally wrong? Will be interesting to read some of the birth stories if anyone is going to try it. I'm very much gas and air all the way Grin

fryingpantoface · 16/11/2013 19:18

With DS I had 2 paracetamol and 2 puffs of gas and air. No exaggeration there.

I did chant the word Relax throughout a contraction. Breathing in on the RE and out on the LAX. I sounded crazy, but it worked for me

AnotherStitchInTime · 16/11/2013 19:54

I have the Pink Kit which is quite good and completely useless for me this time around. It is on my computer in electronic format, not sure how big each individual file is, but if they are small enough I can see if it they would fit as email attachments if anyone is interested.

fryingpantoface · 16/11/2013 19:56

DS is asleep, DH is playing Fifa, and i'm feeling odd. I can't work out if i'm bored and what I want to do with my time... apparently it's annoying DH.

sarahleanne · 16/11/2013 19:59

bloody hell frying that is impressive. I clung on to that g&a like my life depended on it Grin

fryingpantoface · 16/11/2013 20:11

I always worry that I sound like a wanker when I tell people. I knew I wasn't going to have the epidural as I was in the birthing centre, but I figured when I got to certain points, if I needed them, i'd take it all. So painkillers, then gas and air, and then pethidine. I just didn't get to that point.
I ended up trying the gas and air because the midwives didn't believe me when I said I needed to push (i'd gone from 5cm to 10cm in less than an hour) so made me not push. That was more painful then the contractions so I tried the G&A which I didn't get on with because of the asthma.
Then I was allowed to push. So the painkiller free thing wasn't my intention, it just worked out that I managed well by saying "reee-laaax" like some kind of cow on crack. It took DH most of the, admittedly not long, labour to work out I was saying relax

Sultanajo · 16/11/2013 20:20

frying re...laxxxxx. Love it! Am willing to try anything!!! How funny your DH trying to work out what you were saying! Grin

What are peoples thoughts on raspberry leaf tea and when should you start drinking it?

fryingpantoface · 16/11/2013 20:28

I started on the tablets yesterday. I went from 3-5cm in 2.5 hours, but then 5-10 in around 55 mins (no more than an hour) he came three pushes later. I really believe it's because I took raspberry leaf tablets from 33 weeks with DS.

I've started yesterday because I don't think i'll last until my due date (neither does the midwife, which is comforting...?) so figured it'll be fine

Sultanajo · 16/11/2013 20:38

Thanks frying! Are the tablets better than drinking the tea?
