I'm in the north west, so yeah to UK. i might have read it wrong

congrats frizz!

TarkaTheOtter · 15/11/2013 12:49

frying this explains it quite clearly. They can make you start it if you are I'll within four weeks before the week of your expected due date. So about 36 weeks onwards. If you are not that far along it works to your advantage to say its pregnancy related because then it doesn't count against any sick pay/entitlement you have.

TarkaTheOtter · 15/11/2013 12:50

Congratulations mrfrizz! Must be a relief!

Naturegirl82 · 15/11/2013 13:09

Congratulations to mr frizz brilliant news.

I just ordered a whole load of baby related stuff off amazon! This is what happens when I work from home! I blame my mw who recommended a book to me, that's what started it. Just bought the cutest most unnecessary turtle bath thermometer though Smile I'm sure dh will think it's cute so shouldn't question the necessity of it! Grin

Hope you're feeling better frying good that you are getting checked out though.

MrsGSR · 15/11/2013 13:50

Yay for mtfrizz!

frying I had a migraine a few weeks ago, I've only ever had 2, when I was doing my GCSEs about 8 years ago! It really scared me as the vision problems started a long time before I had any pain, went to the walk in centre and the GP was lovely, very reassuring and told me it was definitely worth going in.

AnotherStitchInTime · 15/11/2013 14:42

Yay for mrfrizz, fantastic news :)

frying glad you are getting checked out, headaches and visual disturbances can be signs of pre-eclampsia. Hope it is just a migraine and you feel better soon x

Quite jealous of everyone DTD, sex in pregnancy is great, but I am banned and probably won't be able to again until 8 weeks post c-section at the earliest. Not even allowed non-penetrative sex of any kind, it will be a long wait. Best position we found for late pregnancy is on your left side with top leg bent up and lower leg between their legs with them on top.

enormouse · 15/11/2013 15:42

Well done MrFrizz, that's great news

I'm laid up in bed atm. My midwife dropped my blood test results yesterday and turns out my iron is down to 3.2. So not really capable of DTD. DP is watching me constantly for signs I might keel over at any moment.

He has taken DS out to give me some peace so I'm MNetting and Christmas shopping from bed.

flyawayblue · 15/11/2013 16:14

Congrats MrFrizz :)

frying hope your okay, glad your being checked out.

enormous hope your iron levels pick up.

It's Friday and I have a midwife appointment so got to leave work early :) Also realised I have leave days left before Christmas so have emailed my boss with my plan.. he won't be pleased but I need the rest and it's a contractual requirement so sod him. Can't believe I've only got 5 weeks work left. All starting to go very quickly though I'm sure the end will go slowly!

MrsVDB · 15/11/2013 16:26

enormouse that's very low. Are they planning to do anything about it ie drip or just waiting for tablets to kick in?

AnotherStitchInTime · 15/11/2013 16:31

Oh dear enormouse that is very low, I hope the iron tablets do the job soon. I find Floradix good for a quick iron boost, it is made of veg, fruit and herbs so can be taken with iron tablets. I used both after my haemorrhage when I had dd2.

What a nice surprise fly, more time to shop and nest :)

Sultanajo · 15/11/2013 17:20

frying poor you! Glad you are getting checked out - really hope its short lived.

enormouse ekkkk! Glad they spotted it now. You must be feeling totally wiped out. Poor you!

nature what book did your midwife recommend?

Mac2014 · 15/11/2013 17:33

Congrats to mrfrizz fab news.

I had my scan today. Baby is fine, heading for an 8-9lber, but have a low lying placenta - which as a bonus is working - but may need a planned c section. I'm seeing the consultant on Monday for further tests and to run through options.

I can't remember who else is having a planned c-s? Those that do, do you have your dates already and how close to term do they let you get?

Sultanajo · 15/11/2013 18:03

mac thats good news and great they are keeping a close eye on things....how do u feel about a possible c section?

Meant to say massive congrats to mrfrizz! Grin

AnotherStitchInTime · 15/11/2013 18:05

Good news about the baby Mac, most planned c-sections now are at 39 weeks in uncomplicated circumstances. How near to the internal OS (cervix) is your placenta? If more than 2-3cm away they can let you go for a vaginal birth. It can still move quite a bit in the last trimester as the lower segment of the uterus expands. Get them to scan you later on to see if placenta has moved enough.

Mac2014 · 15/11/2013 18:26

Thanks sultana. My preference is for a natural birth, or at least a try at it, but if a c/s is safer etc then fine. Not ideal as I'd like a water birth in the m/w centre. I'm purposefully writing a loose birth plan as I don't want it being too controlled otherwise I'm likely to freak out when reality differs!!

another all I know at the moment is that it's within the 5cm proximity that my hospital start monitoring and do further tests. I'll find out the exact details on Monday, but good to know you can ask for further scans along the way!

MrsGSR · 15/11/2013 18:28

Glad the scan went relatively well mac :)

enormous glad you've got iron tablets finally! Saw your other thread, is it worth asking for a copy of the results incase similar happens again? My midwife has told me to drink orange juice for vit c and to make sure I take the iron tablet a few hours before/after taking rennies. Which is annoying as heartburn has got a lot worse since taking them Angry

Percypiglet · 15/11/2013 19:37

DTD - have not got the energy for that! Have a frustrated DH. Am so knackered today, been a hard week, 31 weeks tomorrow.

I actually like being pregnant but earlier I thought "I just want my body back", wouldn't it be nice if you could be not pregnant for a couple of hours every so often, just to have a break! Then I felt bad and selfish, thinking of all those people who have struggled to have babies or aren't able to and of course I already love the bump and baby to come.

fryingpantoface · 15/11/2013 19:39

The Dr said my blood pressure was a little high, i have a tension headaches. I'm to try and relax (difficult with a two year old) and take uber strong painkillers.

Just after we left and were filling in the prescription, i got a call asking me to go back in. I have to go back first thing Monday morning to get my blood pressure checked. If it's still high I'll be referred to the hospital. Sigh

Toothfairy78 · 15/11/2013 19:39

Yay go mrFrizz!

Been let down by my male colleagues today. Have spent a lot of time and energy sorting female colleague's retirement celebration and asked one of the guys who loves photography and is really fond of this colleague to takes few piccies while I dealt with everything else, 3 times over 3 days and he totally failed to do it. If you have any daughters wondering about a career in engineering, tell them not to bother. You'll be surrounded by geeks who can't multitask a lot of whom lack get up and go.

On the plus side we raised £255 for Children in Need with colleague who went around in fancy dress today and all I did was go round entire site with him as morale support and make a bit of a noise! He's a bit shy so it was wonderful seeing him surrounded by ladies happily nattering and giving him cash!

Thank crunchy it's Friday!

Got baby bro and his lovely wife stopping by tonight before they whizz off over to see dad and bro in Norfolk.

Forgot I had NCT breastfeeding class tomorrow morning though. Doh!

So much to sort...

OP posts:
Percypiglet · 15/11/2013 19:44

Oh yes, yesterday I got told I had a fatter face since getting pregnant...don't see how as have only put just over 1 stone on so far and then I had colleagues touch my side/back to see if I was getting fat there, all in the name of "is it a boy or girl". Seriously people, bugger off!

Sultanajo · 15/11/2013 20:05

Good plan mac! Will just be a nice surprise if u get a water birth!

frying poor you!,Will keep everything crossed its back down on monday.

Sultanajo · 15/11/2013 20:06

tooth Sad what a let down!!!

enormouse · 15/11/2013 20:08

Yep MrsGSR I've got a copy and I'm writing a letter of complaint to the HCT. Just very high dose iron tablets and go from there. Lots of dietary iron and orange juice to wash it all down. Already feeling a tiny bit more human.

Sounds like a great scan Mac

fryingpan cbeebies, cbeebies and more cbeebies is the way forward. Or in my little guys case Dr who. Glad to hear you're feeling better.

tooth completely forgot it was children in need. Good on your colleague for doing that. Let us know how your breastfeeding class goes.

percy Times like that a 'hands off the bump' t shirt would come in handy.

Managed to tidy a little and sort out DS for bedtime. He has developed the interesting habit of yelling 'MURDER!' Every time he has his nappy changed. I'm dreading having to change him in public now.

Sultanajo · 15/11/2013 20:12

percy what a lovely observation! FFS what is wrong with people?

mrsg heartburn sucks big time! Took my bottle of gaviscon out to lunch! Grin
