And begin!

I'm loving the baking talk! But can't see where you lot find the energy...hard enough getting something on a plate for dinner at the moment.
Well I'm off today as had request for a blood test and thought I could feel cystitis coming on...haven't seen midwife for 3 weeks when urine was clear.anyway turns out I do have a uti so waiting for the doc to prescribe antibiotics now I'm in triage. Wonder if it justifies being signed off work for a week....a girl can dream

TobyLerone · 14/11/2013 13:48

Hope you're having a good last day, sultana :)

Boo for poorly DC :(

Good luck with your scans, another and mac.

Welcome back, percy!

Glad your niece is doing well, sarah :)

Yay for a night to yourselves, frizz!

Re health visitors, I haven't been contacted by one and I never have been until I've been signed off by the midwives. Tbh, I won't be seeing a HV on a regular basis anyway. If I have any worries about the baby I will contact them/my GP. But otherwise I have no interest in regular HV visits/having the baby weighed every week.

I have to make a cake this weekend too. It's my nephew's 2nd birthday, so I'm making him a Minion cake. He loves them! It'll be so much easier than last year's sodding Gruffalo!

TobyLerone · 14/11/2013 13:49

Ugh, sorry about the UTI, juliet :(

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 13:58

quack what a pain in the ass! At least you recognised it and are getting it treated....

Toby I am having an awesome last day - 2 hours to go and I am all caught up (I think) and everything is now handed over (again I think) so it's all good! Can't believe this day is finally here! Very excited! Now the baby and Xmas prep can properly begin! Aw a minion cake! Minions are so cute! Like you say - a tad easier to recreate than the gruffalo also!

fryingpantoface · 14/11/2013 14:08

How exciting Sultana!

I finish in 4 weeks and 1 day. Can't flipping wait :)

fryingpantoface · 14/11/2013 14:09

I've arrived home, the cot is 15 mins away apparently, and i'm making chips and gravy for lunch! Yummy!

I'm also watching Silent Witness

TobyLerone · 14/11/2013 14:37

Have they bought you some good presents, sultana?

MrsVDB · 14/11/2013 14:50

sultana I'm so jealous! Interviewing for my maternity cover today. So far I'm not keen on the first applicant and he's more senior than me and probably better it's made it all feel very real. You must be so excited!

enormouse · 14/11/2013 14:50

We had gruffalo cupcakes for DSs birthday, but I cheated and ordered them in. The limit of my baking prowess is flapjacks and the odd scone. I'm very envious of those who can bake.

I'm with Toby on the hvs. If I have concerns I'll go to my gp, always felt like the hvs were ridiculously officious and jobsworthy and caused me a lot of unnecessary stress.

quack get well soon

Sounds like you're having a great last day sultana

Got off the phone with the midwife and have found out that I am negative for thalassemia alpha and beta. Finally, it's resolved but I can't help but feel bitter that I wasn't listened to for months. But at least now I can go on iron tablets and get my energy levels up again.

TobyLerone · 14/11/2013 14:56

Thank goodness, enormouse! How annoying for you to have had to wait so long.

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 15:00

Enormouse about bloody time and yay for your results! At least you can move on now, but what a shambles!!!

Toby I work predominantly from home unless I am out training, so no pressies or anything. Had a 2 min phone call from my boss this morning just saying good luck and that was that. However, that's fine by me - hate being the centre of attention and big goodbyes. Had some lovely emails, phone calls and skype sessions with my team though which is what counts, all saying thanks for all my help and support and they will miss me. Brought a tear to my eye and made me feel as though all the stress has been worth it! They really are a lovely bunch!

Frying and MrsV I am beyond excited to be finishing today! Just need to call my mate who is covering my maternity cover before 4pm to check she is OK and go over any last minute bits and that will be me done! Hurray!

TobyLerone · 14/11/2013 15:07

Ugh, I remember when I left work to have DD. I was on the phone to a customer and could feel the entire floor of people gathering behind my desk. There were about 100 people waiting for me to get off the phone to give me presents. I've never been so embarrassed Blush

AnotherStitchInTime · 14/11/2013 17:47

Good news enormouse

toby a minion cake, brilliant! Grin

quack I hope your utility clears quickly.

frying did your cot arrive?

I agree with toby and enormouse about HV's. With dd2 I got her weighed for the first few weeks then didn't bother. They can't answer any of your more medical concerns anyway and some of them give the most ridiculous advice re: breastfeeding and weaning.

Just got back from hospital, scan held some good news. The baby's stomach and fluid level were normal which is one less thing to worry about. Scan confirming MRI, it looks like the placenta may have invaded into my bladder, I may need surgery on my bladder during the c-section.

MrsVDB · 14/11/2013 17:58

Oh dear another how does that happen? Do you have any symptoms? Good news about baby though :)

AnotherStitchInTime · 14/11/2013 18:06

It is something that can happen when you have a low lying placenta MrsV, the chances of your placental blood supply being shared with your uterus or bladder increase if you have had previously given birth by c-section, due to the embryo implanting onto the scar tissue in the uterus. Because I have had two EMCS and have placenta praevia major (placenta covering cervix) it was a 40% chance that this could happen.

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 18:14

Toby that exact scenario has happened to me twice before when leaving jobs! You just want the ground to swallow you up!!!

another great news about bubs! What a pain with your bladder though....I guess at least they have identified the issue and can be super careful during your c section.... Do they think thats the cause of the bleeding?

Very interesting comments about HVs.... Good to be prepared for tomorrow morning. Thanks ladies! Grin

MrsVDB · 14/11/2013 19:07

another I'd never heard of that. At least it sounds like they're on top of it

AnotherStitchInTime · 14/11/2013 19:28

The bleeding is just caused by a low lying placenta sultana, there were six other ladies admitted to my ward with the same problem when I was in hospital. I had no idea how common it was.

Whoo hoo for finishing work Grin!

Angelesque · 14/11/2013 19:32

Well, today has been a day of mega stress at work and now I have to drag myself out for a driving lesson... Work is getting even busier, there's zero let up and I am FED UP.

Rant over (for now) Wink

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 19:33

Wow another! I guess you were in good company with six others....

Sultanajo · 14/11/2013 19:35

angel that completely sucks! Poor you! Hope your driving lesson goes ok...

Toothfairy78 · 14/11/2013 20:07

angel agreed work is a load of balls!

I've had a colleague interfering, being obstructive or just plain dumb at me today. Dept head came to talk to me about a project that should've happened months ago that needs to happen by January...helloo I'm on mat leave in a few weeks dumbass! Earlier this week we get told of a country changing laws which means our entire product range needs help. Things were ramping up in a ridiculous manner and now it's got even worse! OK some of it can't be helped but getting under my feet when you should be doing something else and expecting me to work bloody miracles when you've already left it too late, FFS! At this rate I will not be returning!

OP posts:
Toothfairy78 · 14/11/2013 20:10

Crikey another that sounds fiddly! Glad to hear bubs seems to be improving though!

OP posts:
flyawayblue · 14/11/2013 21:17

yikes another that sounds complicated but it's good they've caught it so know what to do. Great news about baby too.

Jealous of those starting or close to maternity leave. Need to check how much leave I've got left as working for another six weeks. Hadn't realised how much work was tiring me out until I rested yesterday afternoon.

Boss seems irritated that I'm passing a lot to him, but when they haven't sorted my maternity cover what do they expect?

fryingpantoface · 14/11/2013 21:25

Tmi alert

making the most of ds being at my pil, dh and i got comfy. He went particularly deep for a bit, not roughly, but deep and now my fanjo hurts all on one side. I also hurt in my bum (same side) and it feels like the baby is really low.

and, erm, i keep leaking. Everything is fine right?

sorry again for the tmi
