Definitely give the MW a call, I went at about 24weeks and I'd waited 48hours, the MW told me off in a very nice way because I'd waited that long and stressed myself out about it and I thought I'd just be wasting their time but like she said to me its their job her words were 'I would rather you be here every day being reassured baby is fine than you being at home and quietly worrying you're going to cause an inconvenience to us and ignoring things' so for sure give them a call and get yourself monitored for your own peace of mind. They're there 24/7 for us.

here you all are!!
jeez, 6 pages in two days!? you chatty bunch. It's so hard to keep up. when I get up in the morning (with 8 hour time difference), there is so much to catch up on that I often have to give up on reading before I get to the end. but I'm still around :)

chelsea i followed your little adventure from the other day and got so worried for you. I'm glad everything is ok.
I'm also getting loads of BH. I'm told to phone the Dr if more than 6 per hour. But they are not painful, just uncomfortable, and always make me want to go pee! ugh. I can't go 20 minutes without needing to go pee. it's really annoying.
So got to see baby girl's little face yesterday in 3D. she is so cute, she's got a chubby little face. but she is massive - already 4.5 lbs and I'm not even 32 weeks. They don't understand how I've only gained 15-17 lbs... she is head down which is good, but pushing my ribs with her little feet which can be painful.

Other than that life in the USA is ok. we live right next to the beach which is great to go for a walk during the day (although I have to rush home to go pee more often than not). glad it's the weekend because I get really bored at home by myself. DH works a lot.

anyways, will finish catching up, but i hope everyone is ok!

Thank you all so much for your kind words. It really means a lot and reminds me that I'm incredibly lucky to be part of such a lovely, friendly welcoming little community on here Smile
He's got cancer and at the age of 95 he's decided he'd rather not have any treatment so although he has good days and bad days, unfortunately there's not much chance of him getting better. I'm surprisingly numb to it all at the moment but maybe that's just a coping mechanism...

Anyways, we've got a busy weekend here - the nesting has kicked in and at last DP seems to be on board with it all so he's agreed to move some furniture, build the cot etc while I take a slow waddle into town to buy more supplies for the hospital bag. I also ordered a steam cleaner on Amazon last night, so I'm going to go nuts blitzing the flat when that arrives!

Tonight we're off to a Halloween party which should be fun although it'll probably involve lots of standing around, so not sure how long I'll last. I'm not dressing up but I was hoping to buy one of those skeleton tshirts for the occasion, with a rib cage at the top and a cute little skeleton baby where the bump is! Couldn't find one in a maternity size though... How does that make sense?!

Going to get back to catching up on the thread now but I hope you all have a lovely pain-free, stress-free weekend Smile

hello everyone. have just about caught up.
Liz sorry about your grandad. it's really hard even if you know rationally that their time has come. Thanks pistachio you probably don't remember asking now it's been so long but yes house of cards is brilliant (if you like political thrillers)
rose glad you found us and that you are ok. it must be quite hard being somewhere new when dp is out working a lot. once your dd is bitten I'm sure you'll meet lots more people. it's incredible how a baby can give you an in to your local area like nothing else can.
Daley can't believe you might be having your little one so soon. very jealous. I'm 34 weeks today and the thought of having another 6 wks to go (at least) makes me want to cry! I've got two weeks of work and then I'm really going to go for it with the bouncing, raspberry leaf tea, etc... Grin sorry again if I've missed people out. I'm on my phone so can't go back to check who's posted what.

Morning all! Hope you slept brilliantly.

I had a lovely afternoon shopping with my Dad for my birthday. He gave me £40 and let me loose. I ended up only spending £32 so I am going to use the last £8 to treat myself to a shit ton of junk food tomorrow as it is my actual birthday and I have to spend it alone. Might as well spend it eating cake and chocolate watching films Grin

Got a birthday party tonight for one of my Dads friends and lots of family will be there. There has been two new arrivals recently, so I get lots of tiny baby snuggles and someone to moan about being pregnant with. The only part I am not looking forward too is assembling an outfit for myself that doesn't make me look like I got dressed in the dark Grin

Hello rose I was wondering how you were getting on in the states. Lucky you living close to a beach though. It must be nice to go for walks.

itsliz for a halloween costume go in primark, buy a stretchy bright orange tshirt and draw a pumpkin face on it! Surely we have the ideal shape for this holiday Grin

meandbumpy go get checked out if you are worried. You will only stress more and that is bad for baby so not doing it is silly Grin

Morning all

Very jealous of your beach Rose. Hope you are settling in OK!

Don't anyone sit worrying about movements/strange pains/anything out of the ordinary, go and get checked out. If nothing else you get to sit for 2 hours at least doing nothing much except listening to babies heartbeat! Which some days sounds nice.

Couldn't find a pram I liked yesterday. Bollox. I really want a chunky, 3 wheel off roader type thing but the ones I have seen like that tend not to have the carrycot as an option and I think that a newborn would look hopelessly lost in the pram part even though it is designed from birth. The ones that have carrycots all seem to be pretty flimsy and plasticy in comparrison. The only compromise I can think of is to use the carseat for a few weeks to do the school run etc. I just worry that a newborn is going to be a bit lost and a bit exposed to the elements unless you permanently have the rain cover up. I know you are limited on the amount of time they can spend in the carseat but its about 30 mins twice a day. So not over the 4 hours they say.

And I am refusing to spend a lot on one lol. Which doesn't help. I will only use the pram until he is big enough to go into a maclaren and then his first pram will be used for stables/ponyshows/dogwalking etc hence the need for one that will cope relatively well with a bit of offroading. And from experiance they don't tend to last long before they either fall to bits or get so filthy they are beyond cleaning so will then get a cheapy off ebay or something.

I have been looking at the Mothercare Extreme one in giraffe. Is on the website at £200 and in my local mothercare outlet at £140! So pretty good value. Going to leave it until next week now and see if anything else I like comes in and if not probably have that. The other option is the Mothercare My4 I think it is? This has a better seat system than the Extreme and looks more newborn/tiny baby suited but feels pretty flimsy at the side of the extreme. And is the same price and doesn't include the car seat.

DP is getting a bit pissed off with all the pram shopping though bless him.

Going shopping later though. So might see something then!

Morning everyone, just coming on to up date and will catch up with everyone's posts soon. I didn't think about hiccups in that way Daley, good to know. I did the counting for 3 hourly slots through the night and when I really concentrated I could feel tiny weeny movements and a few bigger ones, so I think I was probably over reacting. I think I'm not noticing the smaller ones when I'm busying around in the day. Also, the cat came and sat on the bump at one point and his purring vibrated through and made bumpy go a bit crazy. Likewise when dp got home and was talking. . .maybe it's just bored with being stuck with just me all week and wants to hang out with someone else!??
Will keep doing checks today to make sure though. Thank you for being there for me and all your advice x

Hello rose hope you are enjoying the USA. Very jealous of your beach!!
Happy birthday whisper :)
Chilli I've started watching house of cards I'm on episode 4 or 5 but kinda lost the gist of what's going on as dp was being annoying and talking so I kept missing bits. Can you help me understand (plus I'm not very brainy) lol

Dp and his dad and sorting the garden out today ready so it's nice when we leave.

My brother pissed me off abit today, his play station has broken and my dad has tried to fix it for him but it didn't work so my brother is like I want my money back etc (bought a new hard drive to put in it) he was just really ungreatful, for
Dad even trying did even give dad a chance to say I'll take it back to the shop. I guess that just 19 year old boys
For you!

Made some more cakes today. Didn't burn them this time!! Lol
Dp was asking about the birth, and baby and all kids of questions this morning while we was chatting in bed which was nice it's the first time he's seemed interested in it all. Which is a good sign. Made me feel like he's does care and is interested (usually all I get is oh it'll be ok, just like having a big poo! Charming!!)
Anyway long post
Hope some of you got some sleep and babies are still playing drums with put insides :)
Have a good Saturday :)

DH just came to wake me up as for the first time ages I'd slept right through to 12pm. Didn't get to sleep until 3am so that's 9 hours sleep - woo hoo! Did finish off with a weird dream that a work colleague was actually the father of bump from a one night stand which was less relaxing.

froubylou I have the mothercare extreme i got it in the mothercare sale for £170 reduced from £400 when i was 4 minths pregnant. Its worth the money feels solid and safe and comes with raincover cosytoes carseat (which clicks in safely). I too was worried how the baby would look in the buggy being so small but as i wont need to be going to many places when she is born i will just keep her in the carseat atleast i can see she is okay. Keep the hood up baby wont look too exposed then but im sure they will be fine. X

rose thanks...the midwife said 4 BH contractions in 1 hour too me so i would maybe go with 4 just to be on the safe side. Try a warm bath helps ease the pain but not to hot as the midwife always stresses to me!

Don't bloody believe it, tripped over a pallet at work and landed directly in bump so I'm now am my pau strapped to a monitor to check on jellybean.... It really hurt and I'm all aches and pains now.
Having tons of bh, quite fun watching how high they go on the monitor, only 33 and not painful so that's good.

chilli I'm on the raspberry leaf tablets as I don't like tea, been taking them since 32 weeks though, so I'm upping the dose again next week at 35 weeks.

Hope everyone is doing ok xx

frouby we got a really good off roader on eBay for taking over the fields with this baby - a Mountain Buggy Terrain (got it for £80 and they're £400 new). We didn't get a matching carrycot as we have one on our other buggy that we used for DD (when she came we didn't live in the countryside or have a dog, so we had different buggy needs!).
I am pretty sure you can get carrycots to fit the mountain buggy though, also on eBay, so that may be worth a look?

A lot of them have a cosy/cocoon (like the Phil and teds) treat than a clip on carrycot.

Oh no alyssa - if everything okay? Hope you recover (hope work are apologetic!). Stay strong liz - my DH's grandfather stopped cancer treatment and although he had bad days, he was better for it in the long run as he ended things on his terms.

chilli it was me asking about House of Cards ... it's on our list to watch Smile

Have tidied up the lounge in anticipation of the health visitor next week and sorting out the nursery more. Hoping the fact that we will be having a wall knocked down in the dining room during the visit won't cause too much distraction/worry.

Pushchair-wise we've gone for the Oyster as we will be travelling to far away in laws and it was the lightest of all of them.

Oh frouby try second hand, gumtree or ebay or a '4x4' style three-wheeler. There's quite a few around.

Re raspberry leaf tea, I was going to start taking it but have read conflicting stuff about taking it if you've had previous quick labours (less than 3 hrs) some say don't take it, others say it only softens/gets the cervix ready for labour and shortens 2nd stage (pushing) not the rest of labour. My last labour was about 3 hours so not sure if I should be taking it! Anyone know?

Hi everyone,

Everything is fine thank god, doctor said the trace was good and my BH are not unusual for me so was happy to let me go home and relax and to go back if any bleeding or bad pain, I'm aching all over but as soon as I came in there was a stack of dishes and dp went straight to bed for a few hours saying he was still going to work, so I've got the bedtime routine to do alone after lo's come home and then ALL of ds1's toys were all over his room for me to clean up and dp left his pan of rice etc on the oven for me to finish cooking for his bait tonight.

I'm now in pain and very pissed off

While I was there a women had come in as she had felt no fetal movement in 24 hours and you could hear them trying to get a heartbeat, it was very slow and in distress and last I heard she as took for an emergency c section.

mum I also heard not to take raspberry leaf if you've had previous quick labours of under or 3 hours. I'm just taking them as mine were 24 and then 25 hours long and I'm hoping upon hoping that this makes the shorter.....fingers crossed.

BohemianRaspberry · 26/10/2013 18:53

alyssa that really sucks - hope your evening improves and that you burn his rice get an apology

I'm 33 wks - is it worth taking raspberry leaf? I've never really thought about it.
