Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsksays · 23/10/2013 11:34

AndieDisestablishment definitely not to early for a sandwich - was thinking of grabbing a sausage roll actually!

Blockette · 23/10/2013 11:36

"Mild Nausea that lasted literally a week"

Right that's it! Sorry, I cant be having this! Get off! No Longer welcome here!

I have been sick for 4 months solid, and yours lasted a week!?! How is that fair!! Envy

mrsksays · 23/10/2013 11:57

Blockette ...that is why I'm terrified of the 20 week scan. I seem to have got away scott free from the horrible 3 months of pure hell everyone else seems to have had - I'm convinced something will come up :(

Blockette · 23/10/2013 12:04

:) Mrsksays I'm sure it will be fine! I'm scared too as my bump is still small and I've not felt any movements yet :( - Some people are just lucky with the sickness. My MIL said she was sick Once during the whole 9 months!

FoxMulder · 23/10/2013 12:05

Ah MrsK try not to worry, you know it doesn't work like that. Unless you've got some hereditary condition you've not mentioned, there's no reason to think there will be anything wrong any more than the rest of us.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 23/10/2013 12:07

Welcome Mrs! What a shock that much have been!! I've have been terrible sick, no way this pregnancy could e gone undetected. I'm also worrying about the scan. Also one with a small bump and the fact that I still can't eat much and the fact I'm on meds still fears me with dread slightly. Am feeling movements though, so that makes me feel much better Smile

Fingers crossed for the weather MummyP

Sorry you're feeling rough Comms so pleased you're resting today Smile

Andie it's never too early to eat Wink

FoxMulder · 23/10/2013 12:08

Yeah, Block Both my sisters and my mum never got sick.

FoxMulder · 23/10/2013 12:15

Hey MrsK Feel free to ignore this question, because it's rather personal and we just met Smile but were you on contraception when you fell pregnant? I just find it interesting how people get pregnant unexpectedly (probably because I've been lucky and never had any problems with my contraception).

Jolleigh · 23/10/2013 12:22

I'm always curious about that too Fox, but I've always relied on an implant (for a variety of reasons).

I'd been under the impression that unexpected pregnancies were often a result of being ill while on the pill...

mrsksays · 23/10/2013 12:35

FoxMulder - No, I was off the pill and had been for some time. We wanted to start trying sometime between now and Xmas.

My cycles were regular as clockwork and I had a fertility app on my phone which told me my "green days" - we generally just used the pull out method or avoided on those days. (Which has served us well for nearly 2 years)

The time in question was our wedding anniversary in June which was a couple of days outside of the green days on the app so I thought we were safe - but in hindsight I must ovulate later than the "average woman" and this was definitely when it happened.

I had what I thought was my period a couple of weeks after - but was almost certainly an implantation bleed (I didn't know anything about these!)

When my next period was late everyone told me not to stress out about it. I knew 100% I couldn't be pregnant from July as my husband was away for the whole time around the fertile period of that month. Then I went away on holiday for 3 weeks and it still hadn't come.

When I got back I made a Doctors appt because I was worried something was wrong with my fertility given we wanted to start trying soon. I couldn't get an appt for 10 days. Doctor took blood from me to test hormone levels etc.. and BAM the next day, a call from the surgery telling me my HCG levels were really high and that I was definitely preggers.

Oh another piece of the story - I had tried to start temping from June to pinpoint my ovulation dates - but as I was already pregnant I couldn't get a rise in temperature!

All very naive of me, I know that now! But apart from drinking a few more cocktails over the summer than I would have if i had known, no harm done really and actually it's quite a funny story to dine out on.

I was utterly convinced that getting pregnant would be something that we would have to work hard at and plan quite carefully and has prepared myself for it taking months and months - never in a million years would I have thought I could have an "accident".

Well it's the happiest accident I've ever had and fingers crossed this little person is all healthy and we can't wait to meet them in March :)

FoxMulder · 23/10/2013 12:54

Aah, that's a nice story. I wish I could have been a bit more laid back about TTC. I went from really not wanting it to happen, to really wanting it to happen immediately. There was never a time when it would have been nice for it to 'just happen'. I came off the pill (after 10 years), we avoided fertile time for one month, then went for it properly the next month Smile

IceNoSlice · 23/10/2013 12:57

Welcome Mrsk and wow! What a story? Did you never think "I'll just POAS to check..."? I had an implantation bleed with DS so was further on than I thought at the dating scan. I'd also never heard of them.

Get well soon cool and pain

mrsksays · 23/10/2013 13:03

IceNoSlice - nope! Because I had no real reason to - I knew I couldn't be pg from July and I had totally ruled out June because I (thought) I had got my period.

I've never taken a pregnancy test in my life!

faithfulandtruthful · 23/10/2013 13:03

Mrs K and Block I have had a very easy pregnancy and have little in the wsy to show of a bump, my scan was fine baby is the correct size and everything is as it should be. You guys will be fine.

F&T

commsgirl · 23/10/2013 13:14

Watching Vampire Diaries, thanks April :)

commsgirl · 23/10/2013 13:16

MrsK what a story!

mrsksays · 23/10/2013 13:21

F&T Sometimes i think my bump is huge (like when I cannot get comfortable in bed for love nor money!) but when I'm wearing normal clothes you can actually barely see it.

I'm torn between wanting it to show (so people know I'm pregnant) and wanting it to stay small so I'm not uncomfortable.

MummyPig24 · 23/10/2013 14:03

We are going to stay in the travel lodge tonight! It will probably be crap, and putting it on the credit card is stupid but this is exactly what we need. Just one night away to pretend all the shit isn't happening and enjoy time as a family. And we will be close to Warwick Castle in the morning so we can spend the whole day there and have a great time. I hope ds is excited for his birthday treat when I tell him!

commsgirl · 23/10/2013 14:18

Mummy that sounds like exactly what you all need! I hope you have a lovely time.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 23/10/2013 14:22

It sounds perfect MummyP. Hope you have a lovely time x

How you feeling Comms?

LyraSilvertongue · 23/10/2013 14:24

My head feels like it's full of broken glass. Can't take paracetamol. Ugh.

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 23/10/2013 14:26

Oh Lyra I'm with you there. My heads banging today. Managed to get some paracetamol in. Are you allergic to paracetamol?

FoxMulder · 23/10/2013 14:28

MummyP that sounds great. Sometimes you just really need to get away. It makes you forget about all the crap that needs doing at home for a while. I'm going away for a couple of nights next month & I can't wait.

commsgirl · 23/10/2013 14:31

Maybs I'm feeling okay, definitely needed today. I hate being off work though! I've had five phone calls so far so I might as well have just gone in..

Sorry about your headaches ladies x

lumpylumps · 23/10/2013 14:39

Welcome Mrsk I'm a victim of the failed withdrawal method, and random periods!! I had a period in may, then missed June. Did a test that was negative. Put it down to pco then missed July. Did another test that was positive. Presumed that Junes test was a false negative, went for my 12week scan to be told that I was only 8 weeks so who knows what had happened there
I'd only told dh that I wanted another baby on the Friday, did the positive test on the Monday!!!
Although I'm not stupid and know the withdrawal method is the most ineffective method ever, it had worked for us for 3 years!!! So I was surprised when it failed!!!
