Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think, and I'm no expert, but ssp is only payable after a set amount of time. So if ur off for a week, that can be no pay, in some tight companies. After a week Ssp would kick in and u would get paid ssp.

But it really does depend on ur companies policies. check on should be official details on there.

dizhin79 · 12/11/2013 23:32

oh and glad I'm not the only legging wearer, yes with long jumper on too!!

on the eating front I discovered vimto bon bons today, one of the bargain shops sells them, either b&m or home bargains!! They're addictive!! Very jealous of sticky toffee pud tho Grin

OwlinaTree · 13/11/2013 07:40

Vimto bon bons sound awesome! We will be hunting them out on sat!!

lumpylumps · 13/11/2013 08:24

I read that as vomit bon bons!!! Thought you lot had gone really weird!!!

I see a lot of kicks on the outside. Ds2 saw a really good one last week. He was amazed!!!

I tried work with crutches yesterday. Fail!!! Can't use them in the office, it's too small and they'd be a health and safety sick. There was a hell of a lot more standing/sitting/wandering than I'd realised and I didn't have a drink all day cos it's through 5 doors and would've just added to the pain. I'm going to carry on for the rest of the week and see but I think I might have to go off sick. At least I'll have tried everything to stay, the belt, physio, crutches. If this was a non pregnant person there's no doubt they'd have been off long before now!!!

lumpylumps · 13/11/2013 08:25

Health and safety risk, not sick!!

dizhin79 · 13/11/2013 08:42

lumps maybe take a big bottle of water and a flask and have them proud on your desk. Then if you do have to go off sick, you have ticked another box of amazing effort that you have gone to to stay in Work.
I agree though a none prego would prob have already gone on sick leave already.
I worked on Sunday as last week had an exhausted day and had to have an afternoon of sleep on thursday Sad I haven't worked a weekend for years!!
There's no point putting yourself or your baby or your colleagues in any risky or awkward situations. x

Rockchick1984 · 13/11/2013 08:48

Sounds like you've tried everything Lumpy but ultimately if its not going to be manageable for you then you need to get signed off. This is why pregnancy sickness isn't recorded in the same way as normal sickness!

I've now been throwing up for nearly 24 hours, although am managing to keep a tiny bit of fluids down now so it's not as bad as it was yesterday. Getting shaky and nearly fainting each time I'm sick, so DH has had to take the day off to look after DS. He can't complain too much though - it's only the second time in nearly 3 years that he's had to do it, if DS was in nursery and we had to take time off each time he was unwell, it'd be loads more frequent!

FoxMulder · 13/11/2013 09:23

Oh no Rock why are you being sick? That's no good.

Lumpy I think you would be more than justified in going off sick now!

I'm dead worried about DH. He's in a lot of pain and he can't open his eyes much. He's popping the pills like there's no tomorrow, so it really must hurt because he never takes painkillers. Not even the time he shot himself in the leg with a nail gun!

The A&E doc told him a specialist 'might' call him. Helpful. He was offered stronger painkillers but turned them down and is now really regretting it.

Not insensitive atall Owlina I asked him the same thing about the goggles. I don't know what it says in the contract, but he's never been provided with goggles or asked to wear any. Not that he would have done anyway. I don't think they do half the health and safety things they're supposed to.

He would be able to get SSP after he's been off a few days but it's like 50p a week or something (slight exaggeration). I think he's just going to take holidays for now. See this is why he never gets an actual holiday. Because he's either sick or doing some work for friends/family.

HotCrossPun · 13/11/2013 10:28

Lumpy You are such a bloody trooper. Your employers are lucky to have you, I would have got signed off long ago!

Rock Your sickness sounds awful. Do you think its morning sickness returning or a bug of some kind? Thanks

Well I was a blubbering mess last night. Getting ready to go to the pictures with DP and I noticed one of my nipples was leaking! I felt more emotional & overwhelmed by seeing that then I did about my positive pregnancy test. Poor DP couldn't work out if I was crying for a good reason or a bad reason as I was thrusting my boob in my face for him to look. Grin

My mum told me the other night that she went to see a psychic when she was pregnant with me who told her that I would be a girl (she'd had 3 boys before me) and that I would have 5 children. It doesn't seem like such a crazy notion now, I'm a bit obsessed/in awe of this whole pregnancy thing.Grin

How is everybody else today?

Rockchick1984 · 13/11/2013 11:11

Sickness is a bug so hopefully will feel better soon - DS had it a few days ago but was fine again within 48 hours so hopefully I'll be ok by tomorrow!

Hot yay for leaky boobs!! I've not had them yet but remember how excited I felt last time - it was the first time I realised there was actually going to be a baby at the end of the pregnancy Grin

mrsksays · 13/11/2013 13:22

Hi everyone. Having a really bad tights day today - DO NOT buy Topshop maternity tights, they are shit.

Also I cannot stop inhaling food eating. I'm starving constantly from the moment i wake up until about 5pm and then I lose my appetite and don't eat dinner. Weird.

Little one's kicks have moved from just above my knickers to right up behind my belly button too - it's a very strange sensation!

LyraSilvertongue · 13/11/2013 13:57

Anyone watching Masterchef The Professionals? I do love a good cooking competition show. Great British Menu is my favourite.

FoxMulder · 13/11/2013 14:11

What did you see at the pictures Hottie? I've been meaning to go to the cinema for ages but it never quite happens. Seems like far too much effort!

HotCrossPun · 13/11/2013 15:52

Foxy We went to see Gravity. Twas V good. It's the best 3d film I've seen since Avatar. George Swooney was super sexy as a spaceman!

FoxMulder · 13/11/2013 16:03

I've never seen a 3D film. Am I missing out? I hate to break it to you but George Clooney is gay. I've been reliably informed by a friend who worked with him on some film ages ago.

Yoga tonight...quite looking forward to it. Really want to just crash on the couch as usual, but I'm sure this will be better for me...

HotCrossPun · 13/11/2013 16:04

Nooooooooooooo! I refuse to believe it!!

Most 3d films are pointless and are better in 2d. But that film last night was the balls, Sandra Bullocks tears were floating right in front of my face Grin

PiratesMam · 13/11/2013 16:07

I can highly recommend "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2" Wink

I am slowly coming back to earth after all the drama of the last fortnight. Obviously relieved that everything is (probably) ok but after the things we've had to discuss, I'm feeling very detached from my poor little baby SadAnyone else have this, or any tips on how to reconnect with the poor little sod?!

On the plus side, we told the DCs it is a boy this morning and DS is over the moon!!! DD shrugged and said "I still fink is a girl" Grin She is so feisty, she will cope well with 2 brothers. If it had been a girl, i think everyone would have felt very sorry for DS!

Rock and lumpy I hope you're both feeling better soon. Will write more later Smile

CookieMonster1971 · 13/11/2013 17:31

It's not George Clooney I worry about; Cliff Richard, on the other hand.....

Imeg · 13/11/2013 18:07

Pirates - I can relate to the detachment feeling, although it sounds like the possibilities for your baby were a lot more serious than for ours, although hopefully a false alarm from what you've said? Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I've known that the baby could be affected, and so this has tended to dominate my thinking about it, rather than the usual baby stuff. I find talking to other people helps, as they still want to have the normal pregnancy discussions about decorating the room etc. I think now I can feel it wriggling I feel a bit more connected, but still have somewhat complicated feelings about it, with ups and downs over time. I'm presuming/hoping that it will sort itself out once the baby actually arrives and needs all the usual practical care (nappy changing/feeding etc). I've never been pregnant before so unlike you I haven't got other pregnancies to compare this to so don't know how I would have been feeling without this issue. I'm quite a worrier anyway so probably I would have just worried about different things!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/11/2013 20:33

Pirates and Imeg, I think you just need to give it time. I really detached from the baby when waiting for the CVS results, like a defence mechanism against possibly getting results which meant terminating. Nowadays I'm soo excited and looking forward to her getting here. Loads of movement really helps. Its hard to be detached from an internal octopus! Wink Now the tests are done and you know where you are there'll be much more time to just think baby.

OwlinaTree · 14/11/2013 07:39

Today it is exactly 3 months till I plan to finish work!

dizhin79 · 14/11/2013 08:22
