I am pleased for you MummyPig! Ashamed to say I've never been to Warwick Castle despite it being just down the road. I'm sure we will when the DC are older though. Never made it to Cadbury World either despite living in Bournville for 6 years Blush

IceNoSlice · 22/10/2013 21:47

BakingEating Grin he he! I think that is very appropriate with your NN. Just don't eat the baby when your bun comes out the oven, ok?

HappyHoppy · 22/10/2013 21:52

I guess most of our buns will have soggy bottoms at one time or another.

Love GBBO!

Marking my place Grin

liberuna · 22/10/2013 21:55

Speaking of locals.
Is there anyone in Or near London that would like to meet up in Nov?

There is an event on Facebook if you would like more details or pm me.

liberuna · 22/10/2013 22:06

Sorry for lack of names but you know who are. ..

On a more personal note big congrats to all those that had scans today whether to hear heart beat or find out gender. Must be awesome!

Some virtual Cake for those suffering with ms, shitty work days or having a bit of a ranty moment :(

My back has decided to give up this week. Im office based and the pain is excruciating by the end of the day. Going to see if I can get a back rest hobbles into bed

Cool trip Mummy ket us know how it goes. Anyone else out and about?

Btw no idea what this obsession with bakeoff is. Love cooking but spend my tv time on sci-fi and greys anatomy

LyraSilvertongue · 22/10/2013 22:17

It's not half term till next week here.

Mummy, we went to Warwick Castle a couple of years ago and my boys loved it. Been meaning to go back.

jolls - the little'un was transverse at the scan the scanner showed me, plus I think it's a tall one i'm 5'10" oh is 6'6" yikes, breeding a monsterShock !!!

CalltheMadwife · 22/10/2013 22:40

Most babies will be transverse at this stage due to their size and the size of your uterus which is still 2-4cms below your umbilicus/belly button, and it isn't possible to locate a head or bottom at this stage without a scan, you can probably feel your uterus with your hand but to be honest feeling a head is pretty clever if you can as even an experienced obstetrician or midwife couldn't tell you which is a head and which is a bottom at this stage and some still struggle at 37 weeks, by all means you may feel body parts if your placenta is posterior and you have zero body fat.

IceNoSlice · 22/10/2013 22:47

Zero body fat

LyraSilvertongue · 22/10/2013 23:02

My uterus reaches above my umbilicus when I'm lying down. Halfway between umbilicus and boobs. Am I a freak?

Just marking my place, will be back in the morning

Night!

Jolleigh · 22/10/2013 23:24

Wow Lyra yours is high up! I'm about in line with what Madwife has said so not much by way of an obvious bump yet. Maybe it's because it's your third?

CalltheMadwife · 22/10/2013 23:25

Without palpating you Lyra I wouldn't be able to say! It may not be your uterus you are feeling, don't know ask your midwife when you have your next appointment, most wouldn't palpate until after 20 weeks anyway unless there was some uncertainty above gestation early on, as palpating uterus before this time offers no value or medical indication....so what the guidelines say. Plus everyone's abdomens are different but as a rough guide 24 weeks is at umbilicus and then a cm each week above it as you progress.

Jolleigh · 22/10/2013 23:33

Oh Madwife I do love having you here. Those are the types of figures I'm interested in. Not the 'baby is the size of X fruit that notoriously varies in size' crap Grin

Rockchick1984 · 22/10/2013 23:38

My uterus feels like it comes up really high, but I only have a short torso so I think its probably actually about the right size for dates! Could it be something like that for you Lyra?

Fasterkillpussycat · 22/10/2013 23:44

Mummy I love Warwick Castle - fantastic place. Reminds me of school trips. Ice I have lived in/round Harborne for about ten years now and have never made it to Cadburys World either. We actually got to the door once but the queue was massive so we just went to the shop and bought shed loads of chocolate.

I am not sure that I can feel the baby move yet let alone identify body parts. I feel tickles sometimes but I am not sure that is movement or just me wanting to feel movement.

Congrats to all those who have had scans this week.

Mammychoo · 23/10/2013 03:08

Im much happier and hope now someone has stated the bloody obvious all this shit will disperse into a big shitty puddle of shit.
Also im glad we cleared up head malarky....
Im still pissed off..and havent achieved my goal yet.....which proves a point..no one knows who the fuck I am......lurky lurky chicken n turkey....!

Rockchick1984 · 23/10/2013 09:00

Morning all!

I'm so tired today its unreal, it's actually making me want to cry DS had a bad night but DH dealt with him so can't be because of that - so I'm blaming the baby, hopefully she is having a grow or something. Taking my mum and DS to go have a look at prams today, have seen another one that looks nice online and is a quarter of the price, so want to see it in real life :)

Blockette · 23/10/2013 09:07

WWYD:

My scan is tomorrow at 8.45, and last time I saw the midwife she said to bring a first morning pee as they where the best. BUT If I need a full bladder for the scan at 8.45, then I'm not going to be able to pee in the morning before I go, so do I take my pot and pee after my scan when I'm allowed or do I do it tonight, but take in old pee?

  • Never been to Warwick castle or Cadburys world cause I don't live anywhere near them but one of my clients has a contract with Cadburys and always brings me loads of chocolate after he's had a meeting there.

Sorry you feel so tired Rock can you steal 5 mins somewhere?

Did I mention it's my scan tomorrow! Grin

LyraSilvertongue · 23/10/2013 09:10

Rock, I also have a short torso so that must have something to do with it. I find it's highest after I've been lying down all night and get lower, below belly button level, in the day.

Have fun pram shopping. How exciting Smile

Madwife, it's definitely my uterus. I have a hard fibroid, about 4cm x 4cm at the top/front on the outer uterine wall which feels like a pebble so it's easy to locate the top of my uterus.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 23/10/2013 09:11

Btw I'm 22 weeks Madwife.

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 23/10/2013 09:12

Sorry you're feeling so rough Rock. Hope you can get a rest today.

Block my MW specifically told me it didn't have to be FMU. It's strange how we are always told different things. I would use the wee after the scan rather than keep one overnight.

Glad you doing your tickets MummyP

Give us a clue Choo

FoxMulder · 23/10/2013 09:32

Block Won't you have to pee when you wake up in the morning anyway? Are you planning on holding it until after your scan? No way could I do that! I can barely make it from bed to the toilet without peeing myself!

Blockette · 23/10/2013 09:44

That was the plan Fox, I'm normally ok at holding it for a bit as I tend to be late and rushing in the morning! - No time to pee!

Also I don't think I would be able to drink enough to make up for it if I did pee first thing - and I really want a good scan!
