Mummy maybe baby has just changed position. Sleep deprivation is the worst - really hope you can get a good night's sleep soon.

Hope today goes well Pirates. Have you decided if you'll find out - think you were wavering?

Liberuna I just read lots of reviews. I preferred the idea of a stretchy wrap - I don't really know why, I think I read that they are good for novices. But I read that stretchy wraps can sag over time but that JPMBB fabric holds it shape which I found reassuring. I watched their videos of how to tie it etc and thought I could never do that, then realised they are just doing everything really slowly and it isn't that complicated really. I probably should have held off and tried ones at a sling meet after baby was born but I get too impatient!

Thanks for advice Rock - there's a sling meet near me so will check it out after baby comes along. After a long deliberation I went with Peacock Blue and the brown pocket. I must have changed my mind half a dozen times though before that!

Rockchick1984 · 31/10/2013 09:07

No need to hold off - a stretchy wrap of any kind is perfect for a newborn, sling meet just gives you help with tying them. It's really once baby gets bigger that you're better to try before you buy, as there's so much choice out there! JPMBB will last longer than a basic stretchy, personally I've gone for a Victoria Slinglady as they aren't as warm as a Moby and are half the price! I don't do well with overheating :)

FoxMulder · 31/10/2013 10:20

Morning all, Happy Halloween!

I can't believe it's been 10 years since I met my DH. I hate to be a cheesy fucker, but sometimes I just can't believe how lucky I got to have met him in the first place and that he wants to spend his life with ME! Grin He's the best person I've ever met. And he's hot.

I'm starting to get a bit worried about my little bump. I'm not sure I'm really feeling any movements plus my bump doesn't seem to have got bigger in ages. It appeared early - at 12 weeks - but hasn't progressed all that much. People (ok, 2 people, not dozens) keep telling me I'm tiny and they can't believe I'm 20 weeks. I've got my scan on Tuesday & I'm getting a bit worried. I wish I could see what was going on in there.

Re slings: I had naively assumed that all wrap slings were roughly the same. How much variation can there be in a long piece of material?

OwlinaTree · 31/10/2013 10:25

fox if you are concerned could you speak to your midwife? Im sure all will be well but it might reassure you.

I'm hoping to get a sling for when it's newborn, is it the JPMBB that you recommend?

FoxMulder · 31/10/2013 10:44

Yeah, I guess I could but I don't know what I would say or what I want her to say. I'm just being a twit really.

Magpieblue · 31/10/2013 11:11

Fox Try not to worry but you could phone the mw for reassurance. Are you generally petite anyway? I've hardly got a bump and haven't really felt any movements, which is why I keep forgetting I'm even pg. I've not even told work yet - that's how much I'm not showing. And then I had my scan yesterday and saw a wriggling baby, which was weird because now I know it's moving around in there lots but I still can't feel anything.

Liking the sling talk, and mostly liking that I don't need to do any of my own research since you lot seem to be on it.

Coolhand · 31/10/2013 11:17

Owlina like all things - it comes down to personal preference and how much you want to spend! The JPMBB is quite a thick material so is warmer from what I have read, so if you are are a warm person, that might annoy you.

One of the reviews that influenced me to go for it was this: thenortheastslinglibrary.weebly.com/1/post/2012/06/je-porte-mon-bebe-jpmbb-stretchy-review.html

I guess, as a novice, I need to feel secure with the wrap and I liked the uber stretchy material!

Fox what you said about your DH was so lovely. I def take mine for granted a bit - things can get a bit ratty with a toddler running around. I hope time moves quickly until Tuesday but speak to someone before if concerned. Just be honest and say what you have said to us.

Beccadugs · 31/10/2013 11:23

fox try not to worry, know it is impossible! I discovered on Tuesday that my friend was as pregnant when we went in holiday in May as I am now. She looked properly preg, nice bump, and no mistaking it. I can get away with a bit pudgy, especially if you haven't met me before. I haven't really felt movements either. I have decided that this is because I am tall and well padded, whereas she is like a tiny bird usually. But definitely speak to the midwife to reassure you too.

Is anyone else finding it tricky to get the Mat B1 form? I need mine before my next appointment with the MW. GPs not very helpful...

Blockette · 31/10/2013 11:41

So busy! I keep writing out posts and having to run off and forgetting what I'm saying ....

Hello, happy Halloween everyone! Happy anniversary Fox! I forgot about ours till I saw your post! Good job DH did too!

Will catch up with the rest of you in a bit!

FoxMulder · 31/10/2013 12:01

Thanks everybody Smile. I've chilled out a bit now. I've got no reason to worry, need to remember that.

I've just booked to go out for dinner tonight. Check this out: www.castledairy.co.uk/menus/halloween-tasting-menu/ So excited can't wait! It looks well flash, too flash for the likes of me, but hey you don't get a 10 year 'anniversary' every day. Will be giving the wine a miss though, sadly.

As for my bump, I guess it's not that small. I definitely look pregnant, I think. And I am pretty skinny. And I've felt what might be movements.

I'm gonna go read that link about wrap slings Cool

Oh, when is everyone planning to start their mat leave? My work is starting to ask.

Beccadugs · 31/10/2013 12:08

I'm starting mine on the 24th Feb, but my last day at work will be 14th February, as its then half term for a week.

Enjoy your dinner Fox, menu looks great!!

liberuna · 31/10/2013 12:23

aahhh fox happy anniversary.

with slings, a variation of about £100 Confused

Apparently according to mw she said i could pick a MATB1 at my scan but you have to be 20weeks or over.
when i got to hospital I was told only the mw can give me one. When i pushed they said "speak to your GP" and I held my ground till they found a mw on site who signed it form me. phew!

I don't know why its so difficult!!! But a word of advice, photocopy the sucker before you hand it in to work as I'd hate to try and get another if it gets lost. :)

I'm due 9th March so hope to work as long as possible as only getting SMP (my work sucks)

CookieDoughWhore · 31/10/2013 12:34

Hi there! Do you remember me from something like thread 3? No? Never mind..I'm back after a spell inside for grievous bodily harm against a neighbour who made me a tray of brownies for my birthday. She survived the attack but unfortunately is being fed through a straw. Forever.

So..how are we all? I need to read back through 7 million posts so please excuse me if I skip the yawnworthy ones about pilates and changing bags and just read the filthy potty-mouthed ones. Fanks Wink

Oh..is anyone else sick to the back teeth of pissing their knickers? I smell like a fudge-loving octogenarian in an under-staffed nursing home Sad

FoxMulder · 31/10/2013 12:34

Just been reading up on slings and starting to get a clue about variations in elasticity etc. That JPMBB does sound good.

I only get SMP too lib and also hoping to work as long as possible, but I've no idea how long that will be!

FoxMulder · 31/10/2013 12:41

Afternoon Cookie and welcome back. Who could possibly forget you?

I should warn you though that battering one's neighbours is frowned upon around here, so try to behave.

CookieDoughWhore · 31/10/2013 12:46

Ooo, I can see you were all discussing storms t'other night. Did anyone else experience that satisfying rosy glow of Schadenfreude when posh sports cars were crushed under fallen trees? Smile

MummyPig24 · 31/10/2013 12:55

Welcome back cookie, of course we remember you!

fox I hope you have a fab anniversary dinner.

I'm definitely going to get a wrap from Victoria sling lady to start off with.

OwlinaTree · 31/10/2013 13:34

I'm the same as you Becca re mat leave.

Wearing maternity leggings today. Oh so comfy! Can I wear then forever?

Blockette · 31/10/2013 13:35

Welcome back cookie! Yes yes, we are very dignified in here don't you remember - no neighbour bashing! We where all too grateful that someone's (sorry can't remember who's) roof stayed on to noticed the squished cars, then we got laughed at by those ' 'ard as nails' northerners.

Ohh yeah, I'm glad people are looking into slings, I want one but there are too many and I'm easily confused, now I can copy!

I didn't get my form at the scan it wasn't even mentioned ... Did you have to ask for it liberuna? - I can 100% guaranty that my company will loose it, at least twice! So I will scan and copy it about 10000 times!

I have finally felt kicks! Properly this time! DH even felt them Grin

apprenticemamma · 31/10/2013 14:04

hey cookie how've u been keeping? I've got a hankering for some brownies now!

pirates how was the scan? Did you cave in?Shock what ve you got already?

fox I didn't show till 7 months last time. But I was all baby and ended up with a huuuge 8lbs 5 er. Get reassurance from ur mw though. And happy anniversary!

My mum's on her way (lives 120 miles awaySad ) with a car laden full of pink wool chocolate and home cooking... I ? my mum! I'm off to unload shopping and clean kitchen ...de contaminate from possible cholera Shock . Joys of working mum dom but thank fuck my weekend has begunGrin Grin Grin Grin

Beccadugs · 31/10/2013 14:08

Oh don't worry, I will def scan it etc IF I can ever get my hands on it!!

Hi cookie welcome back...

Are the slings easy to tie? Is there a middle ground where some of it is "preformed"?!

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2013 14:46

Just popping in to say hi. I have several days' worth of posts to catch up on. Busy with Halloween stuff here. Boys very excited about trick or treating this evening.

I'll add those of you who want to join the FB group when I'm on my laptop later.

Hope everyone is doing well Smile

OP posts:
Coolhand · 31/10/2013 15:27

Hi again Cookie - glad to hear you're keeping well.

Becca I'm currently waiting for my flu jab and asked about my MatB1 form at reception (it's been on my to do list). I had asked at 16 week appnt but she said they don't issue them until after 20 weeks. My next appnt (28 weeks) is at the hospital so not actually with my midwife again until 32 weeks! The receptionist told me to phone first thing in the morning and ask to speak to a doctor and they should be able to sort me out. We will see....

Coolhand · 31/10/2013 15:35

Although, I do have annoying discharge (charming), I am not experiencing the pissing knickers thing (runs for cover while others throw things my direction).

I am permanently struggling though and bit breathless - last time round I went for 6 mile walks at full term - today I attempted to walk across the city centre and had to sit down for a flippin rest - got myself a supplement, so hope I begin to pick up as I'm getting all weepy and pathetic in the evenings. Thought half term would sort out this exhaustion thing but feeling no better!

Fox I am very jealous of that dinner menu. Have a great time

BakingEating · 31/10/2013 16:11

I only piss on my knickers if I sneeze [proud]. So it's just a shame that I get hay fever at this time of year Hmm

Meanwhile, MY BACK REALLY HURTS. I think my stomach muscles have had a wee stretch and now my back gets really arched if I don't concentrate.
