New thread, hoes!

Just checking in to see if Pirates still has a roof over her head (glad to see you do!). Congrats on the girl Floaty and also to Greysgirl (welcome). I guess if you've waited 3 years for this baby it doesn't hurt to wait a few more months to discover the gender!
It's strange to see so many of us feeling rough this trimester - we're meant to be blooming by now...what's going on??
Good luck to the other mums on half term this week (esp those with chicken pox in the house!) - it's going to be a real challenge for our energy levels

apprenticemamma · 28/10/2013 20:22

So who else is in bed? I've got tv, thermal blanket, hot water bottle & dh off at football.... bliss! Pirates hope you're over worst of i t weather wise.

Congrats floatyfloSmile I've been more symptomatic this time too and like you this ones a girl after a straightforward boy pg last time

Congrats also anniversary peeps. Met my oh approx 8 years ago. Drunk in a nightclub in Glasgow (the shoes were off and I was +rhythmically+ bashing them together in the air ..He was somehow seduced by this look..).Smile Just talked and kissed very innocently. Had no idea he was 40 as he looked 30. Just fell in love (and found out the hard baggage facts weeks later once I'd fallen more in love ) ...October's clearly the season!

mummy pig hope the pox isn't too bad. ds had it a couple months ago and vira soothe was magic.

I'm off to read some super nanny to advise on the terrible twos and to hunt for a dress for a wedding this Friday that's cheap and accommodates bump. Ideas anyone?

Coolhand · 28/10/2013 20:26

Congrats Floaty! Can't believe there are so many girls though - we must be owed another boy soon. We're way behind in numbers.

Welcome Greysgirl and big congrats. We were team yellow with our first as well and it was a lovely surprise.

Exhausted here as well. My excited gloating over my wonderful shopping trip soon descended into back pain, exhaustion and a granny speed shuffle around town. Definitely finding things much harder this pregnancy.

Coolhand · 28/10/2013 20:27

Clearing out all the clothes that no longer fit to vacuum pack away. Have abandoned the mountain for a piece of cake and some mumsnet and wishing I hadn't started!

Beccadugs · 28/10/2013 20:47

Hi all!

Haven't been on the thread for a little while!

Welcome to greysgirl.

Had all sorts of answers/comments, but just too exhausted.

Not much to report here. Still having horrendous left hand abdominal pain. Not overly concerned as had it since 6 weeks, and have had it checked a few times.

Also, stretch marks have struck... BOOOO!

OwlinaTree · 28/10/2013 20:55

Congrats on a girl flo!

Welcome greysgirl. I'm team yellow too!!

Sorry people are feeling rough. I'm pretty much over my cold, still a bit of a cough. However, my ears are really bunged up. Went to chemist today but he wouldn't give me anything cos of the pg. I guess I'll have to bother the doctor. Grrrrr

MummyPig24 · 28/10/2013 21:22

I'm sorry some people are poorly/in pain. Flowers

Dh got eurax cream for dd, it says don't use in pregnancy though so he applied it just to be safe. She is fast asleep and fuss free for the moment. I also put some oats in a muslin in the bath as that's supposed to help with itching.

apprenticemamma · 28/10/2013 22:03

www.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity/ASOS-Maternity-Exclusive-Lace-and-Chiffon-Midi-Dress-With-Wrap-Front-And-Half-Sleeve/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3403288&SearchQuery=lace%20maternity%20dress&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Navy

not sure if this has worked , torn between the navy and the red one for a wedding Friday, I have pretty much short black hair and fairish soon to be fake tanned skin. OH is useless- what do people think?

PainAuxRaisins · 28/10/2013 22:06

Lovely apprentice. The navy one looks good with the blonde haired model but it sounds like the red one would suit your colouring better.

apprenticemamma · 28/10/2013 22:10

thanks pain! pregnancy indecision syndrome, although some would say that's not new :). Problem is I am not sure I can justify another red dress... but it is v pretty whilst the navy is more k-middy classic..

OwlinaTree · 28/10/2013 22:23

The red is nicer. Too much maternity stuff is Navy in my opinion!

apprenticemamma · 28/10/2013 22:39

right its ordered, in red, in a size 12. Pre pregnancy i'm a size 10/12 but I'm going to err on the side of caution and hope it fits otherwise I'll be squeezing into something else! Thanks for your advice ladies.

mrsksays · 28/10/2013 22:42

Just checking in to say today's scan was all fine yipeeeee! We're still team Yellow though.

Was so nervous beforehand I burst into tears in the car on the way there. Also DH felt his first kick today so has been a pretty emotional day (cried then too haha)

Crashing out now as totally shattered.

apprenticemamma · 28/10/2013 22:48

Mrs k that's great news! v emotional by the sounds of things.

I think it was you with the sil with pregnancy competitiveness? I had my ds 10 weeks after my sil had her first. She wasn't too happy either that I was stealing her thunder although never admitted it till later. I think she has been funny with me this time round too as she may be slightly Envy (she's older and only having one dc). someone down thread wisely said just enjoy every minute of your first pregnancy. And it's lovely having 2 cousins so close in age ,our kids are now v close.

(climbs down from soapbox)

night all

liberuna · 28/10/2013 23:24

Yeah float on team pink. Any names yet?

And glad other scans have gone well even if you have more restraint than me goi team yellow! :)

welcome grey

apprentice looove the dress and yes, I do think too much of maternity is navy. As I slowly start to fill a box with all the clothes I don't fit into anymore. I've asked mum to buy me a winter coat that will fit me with baby inside and outside the body. Grin its going to be ted tartan!

becca im using Palmers coco butter oil for my stretch marks. What's everyone else using?

mrsk that sounds great, bless you

Met my oh at drinking night out at karaoke. His birthdayppresent is going to be tickets to secret cinema, they're doing ghostbusters. So excited!

IceNoSlice · 29/10/2013 06:03

Lovely dress apprentice

mrsksays · 29/10/2013 08:06

Love the dress apprenticemama annoyingly I went to a wedding in Ibiza a couple of weeks at and had to buy a bloody summer dress in maternity - what a waste of money! Wish I could have bought something lovely and autumny like that.

Thanks also for your SIL advice! Am definitely just doing things my own way and enjoying it (esp now we know everything is healthy) and trying not to feel like we've muscled in on SIL&husb. Actually had a very sweet text from her yesterday after my scan so think it may be sinking in a bit more for her and possibly she'll now be slightly more accepting.

It's a beautiful morning here so trying to forget that I needed to pee about 10 times in the night and woke up tied half in a knot with my dream genie pillow gah!

Payday is coming up and I'm thing I might treat myself to a couple of new maternity clothing items - so far all I've bought in specifically maternity are bras, a pair of ASOS skinny under bump jeans and some leggings. Would like a stretchy body con dress (might as well make the most of not having to suck my guts in to make it look like a flat tum!) I think they look lovely with thick tights and boots.

mrsksays · 29/10/2013 08:09

Becca stretch marks mercifully haven't struck me yet buuuut.... I'm hella itchy across the sides of my bump and boobs so I've just been using dove body moisturiser. Are specific stretch mark creams actually any different than glorified moisturisers? Is bio oil worth it?

MummyPig24 · 29/10/2013 08:23

Glad scans went well yesterday. I like the dress apprentice.

I have a million stretch marks from dd, I should start moisturising more and maybe I won't have more. I don't know if that works though.

lumpylumps · 29/10/2013 08:35

Love the dress apprentice

Dh felt his 1st kick last night too. I think it makes it feel more real for them when they can feel it.

In laws. Ugh!! My sil is a nightmare. She's 40 but acts more like 14 and everything has to be about her. My wedding was all about her cos she'd just split up with her fella. The birth of Ds1 was about her cos I wasn't texting her every second tough the labour and neither of my boys have been christened. Well, not that they know of because I didn't want her as godparent and it was causing problems!! I cancelled it and had them both christened on the quiet with who I wanted as god parents. Why can't people just be happy for their family instead of turning everything into a competition?!

Ooh. Sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant!!

Back to work today. Wish me luck!!! X

OwlinaTree · 29/10/2013 09:14

Right I'm off maternity clothes shopping today. Want skinny jeans, tee shirt style tops for work, trousers for work. Also boots and a couple of large cardis. Any advice ladies?

Blockette · 29/10/2013 09:34

Welcome newbies and I'm glad all scans went well yesterday.

I will not be looking at that dress as I have no money and have been buying EVERYTHING that I can see! (But it sounds lovely)

So jealous of the people sharing the kicking! That is one thing I know DH really would love, but I've not even felt anything myself yet so he has no hope for the moment :( (20+5)

FoxMulder · 29/10/2013 09:45

Congratulations on the scans floaty and MrsK!

And congrats on the wedding anniversary Ice. Are you doing anything to celebrate?

I'm so impressed with anyone who can do anything in the evening when it's so dark. I, too, need to pack away clothes that don't fit but once it's dark my whole body collapses into hibernation mode. It's all I can do to stay awake while watching TV on the sofa (I did not manage this last night). God only knows how I will cope with a baby.

I had to park about 3 miles away from work. Down an unlit road. And I forgot my torch. Bloody tourists.

Rockchick1984 · 29/10/2013 09:50

Stretch mark creams are a load of rubbish... They can help fade marks quicker, but nothing penetrates the skin deeply enough to prevent them. I didn't get any while pregnant with DS despite probably only moisturising once a week and gaining 5stone Blush but my mum didn't get any with me. Well, I got a couple as I deflated but they were virtually invisible within a couple of months.

Apprentice the red dress is gorgeous!

Congratulations to people who've had good scans.

MummyPig24 · 29/10/2013 10:18

I didn't get any stretch marks until about 35 weeks in my second pregnancy. They were really, really bad but they have faded pretty well by now. My tummy is still horrid and wrinkly though, so it's nice having a bump to stretch it out again!

Dh saw baby kicking last night, it's so weird! He gets all weak and grossed out feeling baby move, he's a freak! This baby never stops moving. I can feel it moving now, if I wake up in the night it is moving. Literally all day and all night!

I can't wait for my scan on Saturday, I hope baby is developing well and they can see everything they need to see.
