Happy birthday to Kayzed and UsandBump.

And a big happy birth-day to little William (congrats Bumpy).

Maewest- Re the hombirth Kit. I was supposed to be getting one but my MW told me that down here they now aren't bothering and are just bringing everything to the birth with them. Saves me having to store it all. I do think that your MW should have discussed this with you tho. As it obviously depends on whereabouts you are. I am 38 weeks tomorrow and would probably feel a bit uncomfortable not knowing whether I should have a box or not.

Slept better last night, but still feeling shattered. Trying allsorts to get LO to come early as am fed up.

HumphreysCorner · 10/07/2006 09:35

Congratulations bumpybel and family on the birth of William Henry.

My string test is still 100% accurate-have just done it on another friend and written the result in a sealed envelope. When she did it she said she got a boy then a girl but when I did it there was only one result But hey, it doesn't matter as you have a gorgeous baby boy and I must be a white witch-lol!

Belated Happy B'Day wishes. We went out for lunch and DD1 played for hours in the ball pool and play area at the pub. Bliss sat watching.

We will deffo have some more births this week by the sound of it and then you can come over to the post natal thread.

KBaby - agree, my MIL is a star. It must have really hit home whatever she said cos I even got a bunch of flowers. Mind you DH did then sit on the sofa all day Sunday with his hangover he acquired with my father, while I pushed DS in his three wheeler miles over fields at a show, but at least he cooked his tea and helped me bath him when I got back. To be fair, he does do a fair bit with DS but has been slacking of late, especially with my size making everything doubly hard. Do you want my MIL to phone your DH? Can be arranged for a small fee.......

Tired today - DS up at 6am. We've just been to kick a footie round the park, and watched a Postman Pat DVD when we got back (again). Feel guilty sticking the telly on as I don't like DS watching too much to be honest, but the way I feel right now I reckon it can't do any harm. If you can't use the TV as a babysitter when you are 38 weeks pregnant when can you? he is sleeping now so going for a kip.

Whose next???

Bloss

hi girls off to take ds1 to playgroup and then to see the midwife, will let you know what midwife says.
Take care
lilianna

FirstAtForty · 10/07/2006 16:30

Hi Girls

Congratulations Bumpybel!!! Hope all's going well and William is settling in happily.

41 wks today and still no news from here - felt crampy yesterday after the sweep but cramps and show seem to have receded again today. So tedious. Parents back this evening too.

Apparently it's a full moon tonight - my midwife said that it's usually busier for births on a full moon so you never know... and these babies are moonchild Cancerians after all (sorry, hippy moment!!)

xx

lilianna · 10/07/2006 16:40

usandbump · 10/07/2006 17:07

I think it is a good idea to give yourself a break by putting the television on for your ds - I did yesterday for dd (ds was out with dh) and it was so peaceful I think I'll do it more often

Did the string test again and it was a circle - is that girl?

lilianna · 10/07/2006 19:47

hi yes i'm sure circle is a girl.

HumphreysCorner · 10/07/2006 20:19

Yes-a circle is a girl.

OldieMum · 10/07/2006 21:26

Hi all. Just a little message to say that my son, Michael, was born last Tuesday (4th), by c-section. He was 11lb, so I have my work cut out feeding him. We got out of hospital this evening. He is a beautiful baby, but has mild jaundice. They are monitoring it and we may have to be readmitted for treatment later this week if it doesn't settle down. Congrats to all the other new arrivals!

lilianna · 10/07/2006 22:03

congrats on your gorgeous baby. Wow that really is big. I'm hoping to have a smaller baby as planning on natural birth. Hope you and your son are doing well.

Arabica · 10/07/2006 22:14

Thread hijack just to say congratulations to Oldiemum! I've been looking out for news of your baby. Mine's coming on 27/7, also by C-section.
lots of love from Arabica (also an older mum)

Congrats Oldiemum Best wishes to you and your family.

seven · 11/07/2006 08:41

Congrats Oldiemum. Wonder if the full moon did make a difference, had a false alarm yesterday, but was sent home as cervix still closed but soft! BH are really painful taken mild asprin to help, never had any with DD1 even during labour! Its made me worry that this labour is gonna be VERY painful unlike DD1 which was very quick and easy, but this whole pg has been so much worse, sickness, pelvic pains, cramps etc. Hope everyone else is doing well, positive vibes to all over 40 weeks! also waiting...and waiting...what a stupid time to have a baby, bang in the middle of summer!

madness · 11/07/2006 09:27

congratulations!!
Have my induction day set at 24th, hoping desparately for something to happen before that as want to avoid hospital as much as possible...

Straightforward · 11/07/2006 10:19

Congratulations Oldiemum and welcome to the world Michael.

Deblaca - I'm sure our moodiness will calm down once los are out (at least, I'm praying that will be the case!!), as I already am wicked witch mother to my DD (just had awful situation with her at school) and think I will be unfit to be a mother at all if this carries on for much longer!

Whoever was worried about their child watching tv - I think if you can't do it now with a really clear conscience then you never will be able to! Plus, I think it's probably saved my poor DD from being throttled more than once in the last few days...

And for those of us still hanging on...(and on, and on...) DH just called to say he'd read something in the paper about a woman who ate a fiery pot noodle and went into labour 2 hours later (might be a bit too desperate, even for me!!)

puddytat99 · 11/07/2006 10:42

Hi Everyone

Oldiemum - Huge congrats and a welcome to Michael

Bumpy - Welcome to little William and hope everything is going well.

40+5 and still holding on here. Though think something might be happening (fingers crossed). I'm leaking a bit and having contractions, so maybe. Will let you know if things progress.

Good luck to all those of you still holding on past 40 weeks. And to everyone else who's getting close to their dates. Look forward to seeing some more piccies of all these gorgeous babies.

Hi everyone, congrats oldiemum, wow hope mine is smaller, thank god you had a c-section!!

Crampy and achy last night and this morning but trying not to get my hopes up too much as had 2 false alarms already. Have managed to sort out childcare for DS if needed as MIL still in hospital and FIL obviously stressed and exhausted at the moment.

Agree on tears, at the weekend I sat and cryed as so tired and uncomfortable and everything just got too much. I think it is a hormone thing with the heat and my size at the moment.

Hope we have some more babies soon, good luck everyone.

kbaby · 11/07/2006 12:45

Congrats oldiemum, what a biggie!

MIL has DD today but I feel so guilty that today ive glossed the woodwork in the hall and cleaned the windows although im going to buy a magazine and sit out the garden.

Ive also booked with a freind photographer to have some nude bump pictures taken on saturday.

That is if I dont wimp out first.

puddytat99 · 11/07/2006 15:43

Quick message just to let you it's all happening here.

Been contracting since about 10 this morning and they're coming every 15 mins now and lasting about 40 secs a time. Waters broken too, so should be going in soon.

Had a warm bath earlier which really helped and the tens is helping now. Mainly really uncomfortable so far but a lot worse when sat down, so must look like a Jack in a box, keeping springing up off the ball.

Bye for now, see you all on the other side

Wallace · 11/07/2006 15:54

Wow puddytat exciting!!!!!

Congrats to oldiemum xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
