Morning all

Well made it through another night, dp is staying home today coz I can't cope with another day on my own. So we are going to do a bit of shopping and maybe go to the cinema.

FirstatForty-hows u? Must be a nightmare waiting for the phone to ring. I've been told to phone tom first thing and they will tell me whether to go in am or pm, if they tell me they are too busy I don't know what I'll do.

Sweeps do give you a bit of hope mine got me through the first couple of days this week. Apparently I was perfect for a sweep and 1cm dilated but it did nothing for me. Don't want to put you off but I was so excited and hopeful after mine that I came down with a real bump and was quite upset and disappointed.

Straightforward- thats awful and so dangerous.

I'm gutted about the fact that swelling doesn't go down quicker, I thought it would disappear quite quickly. I can't wait to wear shoes

Welcome Lizylou It's weird this hanging around isn't it? I'm 41+4 and still hoping to start myself if not its induction at the weekend for me.

Hope you are all well x

Welcome Lizylou - hope things start moving for you soon. I'm 38 wks today with my first - very weird all this hanging around isn't it. Trying to console myself that in 4 wks time bub HAS to be out one way or another .

Congrats Puddy and family

Is it me or are there a lot of little boys being born? My NCT group tally is 4 boys 1 girl so far - the other 2 ladies still left to pop in the group do know what they are having however, but are keeping quiet.

FirstAtForty · 14/07/2006 11:03

Morning girls

Well just been for a checkup and 4TH sweep (surely this must be some sort of record) - though it was a 'proper' sweep this morning as I am 1cm dilated, hurrah. No call for induction so far today, though they still might call if they have a cancellation.

UsandBump - Good luck to you for tomorrow!! Hope you have a lovely day shopping and get in some good retail therapy (and maybe some contractions )

Sunita - don't have any great recommendations about swelling except to avoid sitting upright with feet on floor for any longer than you can help it (eg at dining table or desk) - go for the sofa (with feet up) or floor every time! Moving about a bit helps, but standing obviously isn't good. I find the weather makes a huge difference, the hotter it is the dramatically worse it gets. There's always a bit of 'background' swelling though that I can't get rid of, in both hands and feet.

Welcome Lizylou to the 'waiters' club - and hopefully soon to the 'birthers' club!

Have a good day everybody xxx

Have just spent a very frustrating 24 hours in hospital and don't know what is going on now. Went to see mw yesterday at 38+4 and she said the baby is "an unstable lie" which means the little beggar is squirming around all over the place and won't stay head down. she sent me for a scan which showed that it was feet down with its head under my right boob! So I was packed off to the hospital where the doctor said I had to be admitted because it would be dangerous if I went into labour - prolapsed cord is apparently life threatening to the baby. Was led to believe that had to stay in until baby had been head down for 24 hours and would be induced or if it didn't stay still would have a c/section early next week. So was all primed to be in hospital until I left with a baby. Saw different doctor this morning who said baby was now head down and I could go home. Told her that baby seems to change position every few minutes but she didn't seem worried and I suspect they wanted the bed!! So here I am back home and none the wiser but glad to be here as it is DD1's 6th birthday tomorrow and felt guilty about missing it - feeling even more guilty that I haven't got round to buying her a present yet. Enjoy the weekend

FirstAtForty · 14/07/2006 13:21

Gosh Clara what a bizarre and disorientating experience that must have been

I guess they were just being cautious and when you go into labour they will be on the alert for any potential problems, but they don't seem to have explained things too well. Can you follow up soon with your MW?

Take it easy and try to enjoy DD's birthday - and don't feel guilty, you have enough on your plate! xxx

pinkdolly · 14/07/2006 15:35

Afternoon ladies!

Sorry have not been on-line for a few days.
I was admitted into hosptal on tuesday with suspected pre-eclampsia. My homebirth went out the window and I was induced yesterday.

Little Jasmine Hope was born yesterday at 11.56 am weighing in at 5.12. We came home today, will post the full story a little later on.

Congrats on those of you who have had babies since I've been offline. Will catch up with you all when I've had chance to settle in.

Bye for now!

HumphreysCorner · 14/07/2006 15:40

Wonderful news pinkdolly and welcome to Jasmine Hope-so tiny.

Congratulations pinkdolly had just been thinking we hadn't seen you for a few days! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

IamBlossom · 14/07/2006 19:27

Congratulations Pink Dolly, gorgeous name, well done, I too was wondering where you were.

I have had a shit day today. Went to singing this morning with DS, left handbag in the car park and had to drive all the way back for it, luckily some kind soul had handed it in.

Got back and had nice lunch with a visiting friend, who we were waving off when the door slammed shut behind me, locking us out, DS dressed in a nappy and nothing else! Friend had to drive us to DH to bring us back to let us in, thankfully he was just up the road.

Then saw spots on DS, and went to the doctors. He has chicken pox. Whoop de fucking whoop. Ok as I have had it, but means no childcare (nursery in afternoon), no going to friends houses, none of the multitude of activities I had planned for next week, basically we are housebound for 10-14 days. Plus if I have the baby in that time, I may not be allowed to bring it home.

Very depressed, and it could not have happened at a worst time. Could be worse I know, and poor litle mite (although he seems right as rain other than spots) but I am going to be tearing my hair out stuck at home with him. Bollocks to no TV, that's all we'll be doing!!!!!

Bloss.

sunita123 · 14/07/2006 19:58

Congrats Pinkdolly - Another lovely name. Looking forward to reading your story.

pinkdolly · 14/07/2006 20:55

Hi girls. Have posted my story in the birth announcements. If I can figure it out I will also try and post a pic.

Am going to get a nice early nite now.

Good luck for those still hanging on.

Morning ladies! Hope you're all feeling well and enjoying the sunshine before it gets too warm over the next few days.

Planning to enjoy this weekend our last as a family of three before being induced on Monday (EDD). Having a nice relaxing morning and then off the the playground with DH and DS after a big day of cleaning yesterday. Definitely the calm before the storm!

Good luck with everyone waiting for induction times, and anyone waiting really which I guess means us all!! Sending positive 'let's get moving' vibes to you all

Straightforward · 15/07/2006 11:03

Congrats pinkdolly - love the name!

Welcome Lizylou - hope it's not long for you now.

Bloss - that sounds like a really crap day! You poor thing! If you're really going stir crazy, remember you can still go to places where there aren't many people (I did this with DD, as she wasn't feeling poorly with it) - can't remember whereabouts you are, but as it's still term time you could perhaps try a quiet playground, beach etc...? I just warned anyone who came near, and most of the time they either wanted their child to get it (to get it out the way) or they'd had it already, so it was fine.

I've developed this really annoying cough that only comes at night and it's stopping me getting to sleep. So I lie down, get hearburn, get up and swig Gaviscon, lie down again, just start drifting off, then start coughing, then lie down again... repeat for the million times I need to get up to go to the loo in the middle of the night. So not hugely happy about that...

Good luck everyone - let's try and ride this heat out.

so depressed with it all today, best friends going to this concert we were both suppose to go to, only now she also has back stage passes aswell, gutted. DH has tickets too but keeps saying he wont go but that just makes me feel more guilty and depressed, I mean I dont even want to go, I want to be sitting here with my baby.
And if another person says it will happen soon, I'll scream! sorry for moaning, weekends are worse cos DH keeps thinking no he cant possibly be going in to work on monday, but has thought this for the past 3 weekends, I just know another mondays gonna roll by and still no baby.
Right had my moan, feel much better, hee hee sorry! going to find a weepy movie to watch with a big bowl of popcorn all to myself, dd asleep and dh at the pub (think I was driving him mad complaining!)

IamBlossom · 15/07/2006 19:19

Hi girls.

Thanks SF, you are right i will get out and about, going to sit downstairs and write a list of places DS and I can go to this week, to replace my list of Toddler groups we WERE going to go to. Also planning on doing lots of painting, and cake baking (I'm kinda hoping DS knows how to do that bit so he can show me cos I don't have a clue.) And it IS a plus he is getting it nice and young and out the way, just a total PITA that it's THIS two weeks.

Phoned the midwives last night as DH posed the relevant question that although the baby is safe while it's still inside due to my antibodies having had it, what happens if i do go into labour in the next 5 days (entirely possible after all)....she helpfully said "well let's not worry about that shall we (patronise patronise) you will probably still be pregnant in 3 weeks time and there will be nothing to worry about"..... what a ridiculous thing to say! I mean of course, yes, i could be, god forbid, but what if I'm not? i was a week early with DS and he was my first so she was talking out her arse. So when I pushed she said that the paedeatricians may not allow the baby to come home, so that would create an interesting scenario.........

DS very spotty, but not too bad just a little cranky. Asleep now, blissfully.

Have a good evening all.

Bloss

Sorry to hear about the dreaded pox IamBlossom, what a PITA. Hope things work out ok for you.

Congratulations Pinkdolly, lovely name, will pop over and read your birth announcement.

No news from the maewest camp. Getting a few low down twinges, more uncomfortable to walk (which I'm finding a bit frustrating) I'm really waddling now . Have mw appt on Tues so hoping she'll tell me that head is engaged. Otherwise am enjoying a fairly active social life, seeing friends etc. Went out for a curry last night (tho didn't have anything too hot) and could almost FEEL people eyeing me up .

Positive vibes to all the ladies in waiting xx

kbaby · 16/07/2006 09:46

DH has finaly put DD's new bedroom furniture together although she wont sleep in the bed so were going to have to put her cot in there aswell. At least it frees up the nurseries wardrobe etc for the baby stuff which was just in a mountain on the floor. Every weekend for ages we seem to have been doing decorating etc. I feel sorry for DD as we arent really spending any time with her as a family of 3 but then I also wanted the house decorated and finished before baby arrives as I know well be too tired to think about a paintbrush.

pinkdolly - Well done and what a beautiful name.

iamblossom- I really feel for you as you could do without chicken pox at this stage. Hopefully they will soon start to fade and baby will arrive when its nice and safe to do so.

seven - Chin up, at least one good thing is that your not in hospital in this heat.

bumpybel · 16/07/2006 13:42

Morning all... nope its afternoon... headshot!

Massive congratulations to pink, oldiemum and puddy xxxxx

Really hope you ladies waiting for your little bundles get some joy soon as it must be horrendously hot for you today. I'm boiling and I'm walking around with my boobs out trying to get William to have a feed without nodding off three to four times (him not me!!)

Being a mum is absolutely knackering and I am in awe of those of you managing to do it all again with a toddler in tow! Step kids have been absolutely fab and dsd has been an absolute gem this weekend hoovering and looking after William while I eat something! I'm hoping the lack of time to eat will help me shift some of the stone and half i need to lose!

Has any one else had blood pressure over 100?(the bottom number). That was the reason I was due tobe induced (if he hadnt come along after sweep), but my bp is still up now and ankle still swollen. They dont seem too concerned, but just have to keep having check ups. Just wondered if this sounded familiar to anyone else.

HC... I did your ring test about five times and it came out a girl! Mind you one of the girls in work did a secret lunar chart which also came out a girl, so the whole system must be a sham!!! I think William is going to have enormous feet when he's older. They are gigantic!

Right... off to eat something while he's sleeping.

Love to all and fingers crossed xxx

Need to find out how to change my name on here!

bumpybel · 16/07/2006 13:45

Blossom..
Hope youre feeling bit better. Fingers crossed extra tight for you that everything going ok x

Willnbel · 16/07/2006 14:39

Bumpy's new name.....
Old one was making me feel enormous (even though I still am!!!)

IamBlossom · 16/07/2006 19:07

hi guys thanks for all kind wishes. DS's spots are now pretty impressive, but he seems ok, and we have been at my sisters at a BBQ all afternoon so he has been in the paddling pool which he loved.

Toooooooooooo hot for me. Looks like it will be a scorcher week too, sigh. I am soooooo irritable, DH and I arguing pretty much all the time, very tiring and we both know it's me being crabby and shortlived till this baby finally comes out but still a pretty stressful time.

Off to have a cold shower.
