February 2014. The cake mix is in the mug, the microwave is on, it's slowly rising and we'll be pinging in three more months!

Sadly my cake mix is rising too much and resulting in a serious muffin top.

Jen, I think I'm going to go back on meds too. Trying to be brave and suck it up (or vom it out, rather!) is just making me miserable. Good luck with your dinner date tonight - I hope you feel well enough to enjoy it :)

Timpani · 21/10/2013 18:04

Hey.

I must talk more! I'm 25+2 now. Still small bumped!

How do we work out how many months we are?! Am I 5/6 months?

Libee · 21/10/2013 18:28

Well Timpani my DD is 19 so I think I have completed 4 months going on 5.
Not sure if it's the right way though

Libee · 21/10/2013 18:30

Champagne in the previous postst you mentioned about CCV that employer can't deduct whilst on ML. My question is if you are getting gross paid CCV can they still deduct whilst on Ml and of not what happens?

Julietee · 21/10/2013 18:39

Timpani Well, I've been going by 4 weeks = 1 month, so 5 months at 20 weeks. But a month is really a bit more than 4 weeks, so eh... I don't know!

I'm definitely fighting off DH's cold that I thought I avoided. Have bought caramel ice cream to help.

Whoputtheramintheramadamadingd · 21/10/2013 18:43

You're 5 months timpani. Whatever date you are counting your weeks from, count calendar months instead.

misskatamari · 21/10/2013 18:50

Woo hoo new thread!

Gnitting - labour cake sounds like an awesome idea! You definitely need to research and share your findings!

I've probably got your email somewhere in my mumsnet messages marzi but you're probably best messaging me again.

I can't remember who asked if the book would be good without classes but yes I think it would be a big help. Our classes are following it plus there are some extra relaxation things were doing but I think the lady is emailing us the scripts so I can email them out to anyone who is interested. You do them with DH so when its labour time he can help you stay calm.

Eeyore I think your friends experience is quite common and hypnobirthing is more about the birth being a positive experience rather than it being some ideal natural no pain relief thing. It's mostly about trying to keep things as calm as possible so your body can do its job without fear then adrenaline then pain kicking in, but being able to accept intervention without panicking if it is needed.

Phew I'm tired today after being awake with sore hips at about half three. I've managed to avoid that before now but last night was pretty uncomfortable. Time for a shower and then some crochet watching season2 homeland me thinks! x

Mothercare are giving away free car seats with some prams! Just so you all know!!!

Shropshiremummy2B · 21/10/2013 19:15

misskat I was looking at hypnobirthing on iTunes today but there are sooooo many. Any advice? Would you mind having a wee gander and seeing if there are any you've been recommended? It's a bit suspicious that none have been rated yet they're all £10+. Thank you in advance x

Hello
I don't whether tis is the place to post!? But I thought I'd give it a try.
I am due on 4th february with my first. And we are having a little girl. I have so many questions I think I may pop!! Would be great to chat with lovely ladies in the same position. :)

barebranches · 21/10/2013 20:19

hi Star!
welcome. im having a girl and due on the 8th feb!
hope all is going well with u so far!!! xx

Timpani · 21/10/2013 20:23

Thanks all! So I guess I'll be 6 months on 1st nov if I'm due on 1st feb!

That's what was confusing me - some months being more than 4 weeks!

Starbellybigbelly · 21/10/2013 20:25

Hello barebranches. Doing okay thanks. Have my 25 week check up with my doctor tomorrow. Always brings a little worry when I have check ups. The only slight complication I have had is I have a low lying anterior placenta. So I have to be scanned again at 32 weeks. Fingers crossed things have shifted.
How are things with you? Xx

winterflowers · 21/10/2013 20:28

marzipanned · 21/10/2013 20:30

Welcome Star! I'm also expecting my first baby, a girl, on Feb 4th :)

Anyone who hasn't watched the amazing video misskat posted on FB, do it now! The tears they are a-flowing. (That's tears from eyes, not the other sort of tears we need to worry about.)

Hi marzipanned!
Love this already, I have found a place with lots of people at the same stage as me. Awesome!

barebranches · 21/10/2013 20:35

how do i join you guys on face book? feel left out!

LovesToBake · 21/10/2013 20:35

Another new thread! Determined to stay up to date with this one! 22+4 today and feeling brighter than I have for a couple of weeks thank goodness.

Tree - I'm still vomiting if it makes you feel any better! DH drove us home from Somerset yesterday (2.5hrs) and I spent much of the journey with my head in a plastic bag puking violently. Thankfully DS was having his nap in the back so was blissfully unaware. I still puke on average 2-3 times per week and have been suffering crippling headaches recently too. Exactly the same as I was with first pregnancy. Interesting as clearly has no bearing on the sex - this one is a girl.

On the plus side, I really fancied cooking/eating a curry this evening so made a sweet potato and chickpea curry which was delicious. I have really only got back into enjoying food in had he last couple of weeks which is a huge relief. Still don't fancy meat much.

Happy Monday night all!

Starbellybigbelly · 21/10/2013 20:37

Barebranches, yes we were quite organised today got the pushchair and ordered the car seat! Feeling chuffed until I look at the list still to get! We are getting there.
How about you? :) xx

to anyone planning on reading the mongan hypnobirthing book but not doing the course you need to download "rainbow sounds" to go with it and listen to it each day. I listened at bed time and fell asleep each night but this is a good thing as sleep is the ultimate relaxed/hypno state. I still have no idea what is on the cd beyond the intro music but I became so conditioned to it that I slept for an hour while contracting every 2-3 minutes and only woke up because DH called me. I will be digging out my book and cd player very soon.

I never achieved the visualisation/hypno thing but I would still recommend hypnobirthing a million times over as it just made me so relaxed/calm about the whole birthing thing.

Been in bed all day poorly/sick so hats off to you ladies with hg. I had a vom bug at the start of pg too but was at my mums so she looked after me and ds. This time dh had to go to work and I lasted an hour or so before calling him home - ds managed to trash the house in such a short amount of time and was hungry/thirsty and I just couldn't do anything :( I was mighty impressed by his quick thinking and taking advantage of the situation though (ds) Grin
