February 2014. The cake mix is in the mug, the microwave is on, it's slowly rising and we'll be pinging in three more months!

Sadly my cake mix is rising too much and resulting in a serious muffin top.

Eeyore - so glad you've managed to get work things sorted. Cubano I hope you can have a good rest this weekend.

I'm hoping to use cloth nappies too. My friend uses them and I've bought a stash of some bum genius new born ones and a few other ones which are a bit bigger. Will probably get some disposables in for the first week tho whilst I get my head round having a baby. It is such a minefield trying to figure out which cloth ones will suit your baby so I think I'm gonna try the local nappy library and try some out. Most areas have them I think. The nappy lady will also give you a personalised recommendation of what might me good for you if you fill in the questionnaire on her site.

There are quite a few Facebook groups for people selling cloth nappies too - it's crazy how obsessed with them people get. They're all excited about Christmas limited edition prints at the moment and going on about wanting nappies for Christmas! Apparently it can be quite addictive. I'm hoping I remain sensible and immune to such things (and keep to my Scrooge like ways!)

Sooo tired after being at work all week and I'm just tempted to get in bed. Might try and tidy the lounge a bit first tho so i don't have to get up and do it in the morning.

Ooooh I'm loving all the baby and pet pictures too. Although the newborns all looks scarily massive!!!

I just had the most painful Braxton Hicks contraction. I have been having a lot over the last few weeks but this was actually like the start of labour pain. I am only 25 weeks but midwife says everything happens earlier the more you have. Has anyone else experienced them really painful?

I wonder if stress brings them on as last weekend the flood situation got me having them all night. And just now I had just given my children a telling off for something, then it came on suddenly.

misskatamari · 08/11/2013 20:38

Eeeek Braxton kicks sound weird and not very nice. Are they short? I find my bump gets really hard and tight late in the day and it can be quite uncomfortable but it stays like that for a while so that's not them is it.

Does anyone have any tips for itchy nipples too? I've been using cocoa butter, which helped a lot but it doesn't seem to be working as well any more. Plus now both are itching not just the right one Hmm stupid Preggo body!

Julietee · 08/11/2013 20:43

I've started a thread on the main preg board because I keep finding wet patches on my knickers whenever I go to the loo and the possibility it could be amniotic fluid leaking is panicking me. I think it's just bog standard incontinence though.

I don't think we'll be able to do cloth nappies as we don't have a tumble drier.

EeyoreIsh · 08/11/2013 20:49

missk I'm the same re. hard tummy later in the day. It doesn't hurt, just goes a bit tight. I've also got itchy nipples, I'm using exzcma cream which helps.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 08/11/2013 20:59

Julietee - tmi but I always have wet patches on my knickers. I had the same with DS and went and got checked at 27 weeks as it smells 'bleachy' and I was worried I was leaking. They told me I have a lot of discharge. Very embarrassing but very normal apparently Smile

Zazou1 · 08/11/2013 21:01

Omg I'm so rubbish at keeping up with this thread-by the time i get back from work, eat and generally chill I'm so exhausted I go to bed!

Gnitting-we can be GD preggos together Smile it's been totally ok since finding out-just taking blood sugar levels every day and control by diet so far...got used to it after a week or 2. I've found that I mainly can't eat fruit-and cakes/choc etc-but otherwise diet is as normal. I appateny don't fit into any if the GD categories and they think it might be pre-existing. Random. Anyway, you will have extra monitoring and scans which is really reassuring. Baby is at no risk of getting diabetes-they'll just keep an eye on the size and now they know, they will make sure all is ok Smile

Had a scan yest to check baby size and he is within normal range now though still on the high side.

My boobs have grown AGAIN and now look like bloodshot eyeballs (sorry, Tmi) which is just wwwaaaahhhhhh!

26+6

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 08/11/2013 21:03

Thingymajigs, yes we have lots of fleece liners. Made no difference - maybe because he was a heavy wetter? Not really sure but his skin just used to go bright red and terribly sore and his wee smelled really strong in them too. He was exclusively breastfed and I went through around 8-10 nappies a day so he was changed very regularly. We mainly used TotsBots but I did try lots of other brands before regretfully giving up.

LittlePandaBear · 08/11/2013 21:19

I've always used disposable nappies for the convenience - I will have to save the planet in other ways Blush

I think the tight tummies you're mentioning is a Braxton Hicks - just practising for the real deal when you're in labour! They're not always short tightenings.

We're nearly on a new thread already - woo!

I don't want the responsibility of coming up with a new, interesting and funny thread title though. Someone funny, please volunteer (no pressure).

Oh dear, pg hormones just ran wild in our household. DH calmly asked if I minded him going to Surrey (90 mins away) early jan when I'll be 34wks for a 1 day pool event. I flipped out. Told him I'd neeeed him around as I'll be huge by then and can't possibly breathe without him here to look after me. What if the baby comes early? What if its snowing abd he gets stranded? What if i cant get off the sofa unaided? Tears were shed. Have since calmed down and said that he can go but he is refusing, saying if I'm this unstable now he thinks he'd better be around in January... Hmm

Feeling awful wife and not sure how to rectify this. Other than baking him cookies and a lasagne at the weekend.

Julietee · 08/11/2013 21:38

LAstnight Thanks :) At the moment my patch is the whole gusset (what a horrible word!). I don't know whether to hope it's wee or discharge.

jazzcat28 · 08/11/2013 21:38

Champagne I am with you on the woe is me! Only thing slowly cheering me up is baby booting my stomach (probably in support of his/her daddy as I am evil mummy/wife)

winterflowers · 08/11/2013 21:47

Julietee im exactly the same. Actually I was so worried o called the midwife and she basically told me where to go as both pelvic floor issues and discharge are so common. I mentioned it to tje dr yest as well and he wasn't concerned. I think mine is more pelvic floor related as it's worse after cycling on the bumpy roads. Yuck. Who tells you pregnancy can be so body traumatic!

Jazz - I know it can feel scary to think that you could be nearly giving birth and your DH isn't close at hand, but realistically you could still be 8 weeks from having your baby (worst case!) and it's impossible to have him by your side all the time. 90 mins away really isn't very far and even if he's somewhere 20 mins away, there could be a traffic jam and it could take him longer to get to you. Do you have other family/friends who live near that you could rely on if there was an emergency? May make you feel better to plan a few options for any emergency hospital dash! Blaming the hormones is perfectly acceptable behaviour Grin

Your DH sounds lovely though to have even asked you, mine would just make his plans and tell me the day before! As I'm likey to have a section at 39 weeks, DH is assuming that nothing will happen earlier and therefore it's set in stone. He works 1 hr away or 90 mins in peak times so I'll just have to cross my legs until 39 weeks when he can finish work Grin

marzipanned · 08/11/2013 21:57

Champagne Flowers Don't bother trying to shake yourself out of it, just get yourself into bed (maybe bath first?) with a good book/mag/DVD, have a good sleep and tomorrow will hopefully feel completely different.

LittlePandaBear · 08/11/2013 22:00

I set up a new thread...

And yes Champagne, bed and book/mag is the way forward to relax! x

Somanychanges · 08/11/2013 22:24

Jazz my husband told me the other week that he will have to go back to America in January with work. I actually laughed (a kind of crazy laugh) and said "I don't think so"

I am hoping his work will understand the importance of him being around for the possible birth of his son in January. After all since we had our other two early this is likely to be a January baby. Knowing my DH though he would just go as not to rock the boat especially as he will still be on probation in January.

Am off to sleep now I am so glad it is Saturday tomorrow and I don't have to be up at 6:30am for school.
