Just a quick message to say baby Elliott was born on 12/10/13 at 37 weeks after waters broke late Friday night. Had no labour just a quick c section. After a few blood sugar problems we are both home now and he is lovely. He weighed 7lb3 at birth and is currently breast feeding really well! X

chickieno1 · 15/10/2013 01:35

Congrats on baby Harry emmo. Glad everything worked out for you xx

Congratulations on Elliott kimblesj! Glad you're both home and he's feeding well for you Flowers.

mrshn that really sounds like a marathon labour! I hope you get some rest tonight. Enjoy cuddles with Conrad xx

How're you nat??

chickieno1 · 15/10/2013 01:40

Happy thanksgiving ana!!

Mnippy · 15/10/2013 04:07

flyer, best of luck. I was petrified for most of the process, but nonetheless really enjoyed my csection as much as one can in the circumstances! And the iv drip, spinal block, stitch removal etc were so much less painful than I was expecting (and I'm a real wimp). I asked for the strong stuff - cocodamol etc, sand have been relatively pain free the whole way through. Had to man up to give myself the stomach injections though...

Everyone's given great advice, all I can say is, having DP stay overnight ws amazing.

Mnippy · 15/10/2013 04:18

Congrats to new mums! Due to stressy feeding, I started that last post some time ago and have just completed it!

rubytwosday · 15/10/2013 05:00

Good luck flyer and Nat - looking forward to more babies tomorrow! Congratulations to all those with lovely newborns - sorry for not name checking. I hope all the new mums are getting some sleep and are not suffering from baby blues. I hadn't heard of it until the wise experienced mummas of the bus mentioned it. I cried for absolutely no reason at least once a day for the first week. Sending happy cervix vibes to all those SFW.

xuntitledx · 15/10/2013 06:14

Birth Story below for those that want to read it.

All started on Saturday morning as I posted on here, irregular contractions from 3am became regular by 5 but stil only 6 minutes apart. Had a bath at 8 and when I got out theyd really ramped up to every 3 minutes although much shorter. Phoned MLU who were happy for me to labour at home till I wanted to go in.

At about 12 I decided id had enough of acting calm to DS and walked to the MLU (5 minute walk that took 15 as had to stop for every contraction)
Got to MLU and only 2-3cm. so wondered round, about 5 I decided wanted to get in the pool but still only 3 cm, put on TENS at 6 but by half 6 something changed and I lost control a bit with DH and announced I needed the gas and air, they tried to convince me not too as thought I was only 3cm still but I insisted and after one breath on the gas and air started pushing. was examined and went from 7-10cm during examination, clambered into pool and Isla was born at 8pm weighing a lovely 7lb 2oz. Length of established labour was recorded as 1hr 20 minutes and had a second degree tear because she was in such a rush. very different to my birth with DS that took 24 hrs but such a better experience and feel very lucky to have got my water birth after worrying about her being so late.

pinkbuttons · 15/10/2013 06:41

Also meant to say thankyou for reassurance tarlia DS was also a long feeder, made sure she was fully awake last night only had 10 minutes and then slept for 5 hours with one wake up to be sick... will mention it to my midwife on Thursday am guessing shell get weighed then too.

Milk has come in today and feel/look like ive had a boob job overnight. DH far too excited by them considering theyre painful and could squirt milk at him at any point...

ananikifo · 15/10/2013 07:31

Congrats kimblesj! ThanksThanks

Good luck to flyer, nat, and everyone else today.

Thanks chickie. I hope you and your family had a good thanksgiving too. I had a secret idea that it would be nice to have a thanksgiving baby but obviously that has not happened. Sad SC at 39 weeks today.

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/10/2013 07:39

Congratulations kimbles Thanks

Thanks for birth story pink , it helps me to feel prepared reading how things went for others. Impressed at you walking to hospital in labour!
The 1cm an hour thing doesn't seem to happen for anyone does it, can be either days and days or a few hours/ minutes!

Good luck today flyer . I imagine the long wait will be the worst bit not knowing when will be your turn. Can't wait to hear news of your baby.

I had a rubbish nights sleep after quite a few goodish ones. Sweating despite it being very cold and couldn't get comfy or stay asleep for long, and when I did I dreamt all my organs were falling out of me Confused

PseudoBadger · 15/10/2013 07:47

Morning everyone, hope Nat has had a productive night :o and wishing you good luck Flyer x

I think I've either got a blocked duct or early mastitis. Apart from feeding as usual im not sure what to do.

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/10/2013 07:51

Pseudo obviously I haven't experienced it myself yet (SC baby number 1) and others will come along with more wisdom but the breastfeeding counsellor at my nct class said to massage it and position baby for feeds so that their chin massaged and emptied the part that feels blocked/sore so you could try under arm/side etc?

Pinkforboys · 15/10/2013 08:02

Pseudo Have you tried massaging your boob in a hot shower?

Natalieand · 15/10/2013 08:06

Still IP @ 40+1 x

claphammama · 15/10/2013 08:06

poor pseudo - not fun. Was just going to recommend massaging in hot shower too! plus make sure she empties your boob as much as possible when she feeds. it should go in a couple of days.

thinking of flyer and nat today

congrats again on your epic birth mrsH and glad you didn't need to be induced after all

happy thanksgiving ana and chickie

claphammama · 15/10/2013 08:11

and glad your jobs are safe untitled - definitely not the stress you need right now

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/10/2013 08:15

Yes good new untitled, you don't ant that hanging over you.

Sorry things haven't happened yet Nat. Sending dilating thoughts!

MrsHoratioNelson · 15/10/2013 08:18

Morning all. A reasonable night of sleep in the circs. C is not remotely interested in feeding from me, partly i think cos he's so full of mucus, but he's been getting a little EBM by syringe and doesn't seem to be hungry yet. MWs being v helpful although its weird to go from nothing to having a stranger manhandle your boob at 4:30am and being completely fine with it Grin.

Thanks for all your well wishes and for those SC, SFW and anywhere else in between.

PseudoBadger · 15/10/2013 08:19

Thanks as soon as I get a chance to get in a hot shower today I will!

roofio87 · 15/10/2013 08:32

mrsh I had the same problem with H, was mucusy and too sleepy from my diamorphene. he did get there by end of next day though.

We're having a good day so far, H only woke twice in night so I mangaged quite a lot of sleep doing it all by myself as dp is back at work today! but im up and showered already so thats impressive!!
wasn't sure whether to say this as I don't want you all to hate me, but 11 days post birth and I'm back to my pre pg weight!! Smile

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/10/2013 08:41

Wow roofio you really were all baby! Please make sure you are eating and drinking enough though.

GTbaby · 15/10/2013 08:47

Pseudo I think hot shower. Hot water bottle/ soaked towel on the area before each feed. Feed as much as possible. Massage the hard area while feeding/showering.
I've never had it. But this is advise I've heard given to others.

roofio87 · 15/10/2013 09:06

I defo am eating enough. I'm busy but making sure I have 3 meals a day and not given my biscuits up! I think I really was just all baby and other bits. I'm feeling very lucky and already dreading how bad it'll be after the next one haha!

textbook · 15/10/2013 09:06

Good luck Flyer for today Grin

Hope things start progressing for you soon Nat Thanks

Thea slept in her bednest for 2 x 4hrs last night - I feel positively refreshed!!
