Congratulations Pink and Bridget!!! PPH sounds scary...

Good luck Livend and Iheart!!!

I can't link to that bf thread on my phone but I have bumped it.... It's the Boobs and Booze thread in breast and bottle feeding (in Feed the World). Hope that helps. Basically, for anything approaching significant to get through to baby, you'd have to be totally plastered / comatose! I have always felt ok about a couple of drinks. More than that and I'd notice it and worry about waking up etc.

legallyblond · 13/10/2013 07:20

Oh and party was great thanks. I had a twin attached to me most of the time while my mum held the other. We kept it to 1.5 hours and did pass the parcel, cupcake decorating and a birthday tea. The rest of the time they just played. 12 little ones if you inc younger siblings, but they all had at least one parent with them, so lots of helping hands! DD really loved it so I'm glad we made the effort, especially as most of her class came (only 7 of them!) which was good as they've all only just started school.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 13/10/2013 07:36

Just been sick and called the midwife. Contractions quite painful although don't know if I'm being a wimp or not?? Think I'm about 8 mins apart although sometimes 10 sometimes 5. Very confusing.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 13/10/2013 07:42

Oh exciting to wake up to babies and ladies in labour!
Another one here who loves the Manchester markets. We will he going this year with the small one but think we'll leave ds with my parents. Reckon I can pop the little one in a sling and potter about nicely sampling mulled wine and bits of food. That's of course if this little one ever comes out.........!

Mnippy · 13/10/2013 07:51

Haven't had a chance to catch up with the thread, but Mnippy Junior was born a few days ago. For anyone worried about c sections, all I can say is that I was lucky and found it to be - if very scary - also very calm, organised, relatively pain free and overall very positive so far.

Fallen in love totally with the baby. Which is lucky because anything else chewed my nipples in the same way they would be chucked out of the nearest window sharpish!

Mnippy · 13/10/2013 07:52

Sorry, my grammar disappeared when the sleep did...

Natalieand · 13/10/2013 07:56

Wow! Good luck to all of those SWIL! Looks like the 13th could be just as popular as expected! Dh wanted a 13/10/13 baby after he realised he wouldn't get a 10/10 baby lol deffo nothing happening over here

feminist sorry to abandon u but needs must and all that plus with the time induction can take there's still time for u to race me to the finish line Grin

iheart I was sick a lot when in labour with dd which no one warns u about completely normal and I was told to just takes small sips of water to keep myself going even tho I hate water and actually drunk juice instead

Natalieand · 13/10/2013 07:57

Congrats mnippy
Gender/name/weight? :-) xxxxx

thethreeblondies · 13/10/2013 08:15

I don't know, I have an early night and miss a load of action!!

Congratulations pink and Bridget

Good luck iheart and livened

Feel a bit poo, wasn't sure if my sneezing fits yesterday were cold or allergy related but feel a bit throaty today so taken some paracetamol, at least it's put me off wanting the baby out today! So SC 39 +1 the girls made little cards for the baby last night, very sweet. Might go to pub for carvery for lunch, made dh call in a chinese last night as didn't want to eat in to our stockpiled food in the freezer Grin

roofio87 · 13/10/2013 08:21

congrats pink and bridget Grin
feeling a bit better here today, always do in the mornings. H fed at 11 30, 2 30, 5 15 and up at 8 so not too bad and slept in between. roxvox how was your night?
thanks to the other ladies sharing that they are ff now too, selfish I know but glad I'm not the only one!!

hope those swil today are ok!!

I love the manchester xmas market, I meet my oldest friends there every year for a catch up
hoping I'm brave enough for either a trip over on train with baby or to leave him with daddy for the day by then!!

dontworryjustpanic · 13/10/2013 08:22

Congratulations to Bridget, pink & mnippy.

Just been catching up on all the booze & champagne talk & remembered DH won a bottle in a golf tournament a couple months back. I forbid him to open it until I can share it. I'll probably only manage a thimble-full - alcohol tolerance never recovered after having DS. Hangovers & small children are a definite no-no!

notsoold · 13/10/2013 08:42

Pink mnippy and bridget ....congratulations!!!xxxx enjoy your little ones!!!

legallyblond · 13/10/2013 08:57

Thanks GT... And congrats Mnippy!

Flyer747 · 13/10/2013 09:03

Thanks GT read all the thread. It's really interesting and I'm glad you posted it. People do like to get all preachy about drinking alcohol and bf, so I can put them in their place now offer them this educated info. Grin

Good luck Iheartcrunchies and livend.

Feminist I feel you pain chick we will sit out this overdue time together, I've also had no symptoms at all!

Congrats mnippy Thanks

So status is now SFW. Sanji I hope a miracle strikes and we give birth today. Grin

Umlauf · 13/10/2013 09:23

Hey! Firstly I am SO SORRY for my hiatus from the thread, I have been feeling very guilty but babies really are time consuming! I also only have an ipad which takes bloody ages to type on, but at weekends get use of DHs work laptop so can now touch type everything and catch up!

Flyer glad you asked that question as yesterday I had a MASSIVE gin and tonic, I had gin legs and struggled to walk home and everything! This morning, as in early hours thereof, DS has been a very vomity baby and is now lying in a weird upsidedowny position on DHs knee and I have been very paranoid he is hungover! So I can relax a touch...

Also, I know this is going a while back but we chatted about weight and weight loss, I seem to have lost 2 stone with the birth and the 2 or 3 days after, which is awesome, so just have 1 stone 4lbs to go to get to ideal weight. I was quite surprised by how not-completely-terrible I looked post birth too, so that is good news! Still dont fit in any of my clothes though.

Re symptoms, I didnt have any at all, even AFTER the water breakage! So dont lose hope. I did though have a tablespoon of castor oil the night before the waters broke, which had absolutely NO effect, no pooing or anything, so probably completely unrelated, but I am the only one in the family not to go overdue for a fair few generations so maybe...!

Good luck crunchie I expect you will be cuddling a beautiful newborn now!

Do we have a postnatal thread yet?

Mnippy · 13/10/2013 09:31

nat, boy! no name yet, 7lb+Er.

flyer, no one, NO ONE is getting between me and mulled wine this Xmas... If anyone questions me I shall raise an eyebrow and say 'pity about the bottle of vodka I downed just now'.

Baby is yet to achieve 2hr gaps between feeds at night so very little sleep here... but don't pity me, as it does beat the insomnia of late pregnancy (at least there's someone to keep me company!) - even with the c section wound. My thoughts are really really with the SFWs.

Flyer747 · 13/10/2013 09:47

Grin Mnippy.

Umlauf nice to hear from you. So bf is going better now? Also it's fab news with the weight loss. I just told dp as I was excited to hear this. Smile
We don't have a post natal thread yet, I think the plan was to wait until the last person had given birth then start one. 1stone 4lbs will be off by Xmas I bet.

So with the fact I can drink moderately if I manage to bf and weight loss may not be a major issue, it's a very positive start to the day. I just need my baby to arrive today for a hat-trick.

Pinkforboys · 13/10/2013 09:48

Oh what great news to wake up to! Congratulations MNippy, PinkB & Bridget!! ThanksThanksThanks

Feminist you described my days perfectly- I guess those are the habits of all of us still left on this bus. And Umlauf don't you dare start a p-natal thread without us!!!

Nat if you're feeling your inner Mary Berry you could stock up your cookie & cake tins with DD for your post-baby cravings entertaining guests, or if you're channelling Mr Maker you could always make a mobile together to hang in Bubba's room, or maybe 2 versions, one for her room, one for his?

Good luck IHeart & livened Very cool (& handily memorable) d.o.b. if you can manage it!!

Shirehobbit · 13/10/2013 09:59

Congratulations, new arrivals Flowers

And good to hear from you Umlauf x

Loving the Wine talk. We have a bottle of very nice champers waiting, but I just can't face it, yet. Maybe on our anniversary next week.

Al allowed me two chunks of 2hrs sleep last night - feel so much better for it Grin
Dare I think/hope we've turned a bf corner?

Wickedgirl · 13/10/2013 10:02

Flowers and congratulations to pinkbuttons, bridget and Mnippy

Good luck to those SWIL Envy

I'm SFW @ 40+4 and no signs of anything happening either Sad

Umlauf · 13/10/2013 10:04

Im not starting anything pinkforboys dont worry! That would require some getting together of my act!

Yes I was very pleased flyer although nothing has come off for a week despite my best efforts at shunning ALL cake and bread and ice cream. Hmmph! Hopefully it will be a slow but steady process and I wont be one of those women who retain all fat until BFing stops.

BFing.... hmmm... He is a little bugger! He can do it now, but only with a specific nipple shield (we have four, he only accepts one of these!) in a specific position, specific chair, specific bloody cushion, and we both end of completely SOAKING as he likes to spit a lot of it back out. I cant imagine how we could ever leave the house that way, so for outings, which I am doing lots of, I express a lot. Its too late to worry about nipple bottle confusion as he was bottle fed in the hospital. DH gives him an expressed bottle overnight as well so I dont have to get up for every feed which is nice. It is getting better every day though, although he had lost a bit of weight at his last weigh in.
