Tiny I thought that the Harmony had to be done at 10 weeks? With a scan at a later date?

I guess it makes sense to delay your booking in with the midwife until after your scan. My GP refuses to refer me to the MW until I have the all-clear from the scan. On the one hand I'm comforted that I will a scan, on the other I'm slightly cross that he's not taking this pregnancy seriously Angry

TinyTear · 10/10/2013 11:28

No, it can be done at any time, I think...

A friend of mine had it done at the Fetal Medicine Centre (I think) where they had an offer on that if you did it at 10 weeks they would through it in for free and you only paid for the NT scan and she was lucky to get that offer. It's over now so the cost would be the full amount...

Nothing here about weeks: www.fetalmedicine.com/fmc/treatment-fees/

LondonSuperTrooper · 10/10/2013 11:36

Great, thanks for the link. I'm looking at having it done at the FMC as well :)

And yes to good old 1973.... Strangely enough I font celebrate birthdays as it's unimportant to me. It's only when TTC and now that it's so relevant!

My little sister had a lovely baby boy yesterday and she's almost 39. But she had really good results for her nuchal scan and bloods.

TinyTear · 10/10/2013 11:41

I had my daughter when I was 38 and my nuchal and bloods were good 1 in 3000 risk or something...

My friend (due her 4th in April, I think) had had lots of scans done there at the FMC. She likes the reassurance as she has had quite high risk pregnancies

And Congratulations Auntie! hope you will be giving him a lovely cousin next June

LondonSuperTrooper · 10/10/2013 11:48

Thank you :)

tannyLoo72 · 10/10/2013 12:50

I'm 41, and will be 42 in May! I like to think I'm a fit 41 though, don't drink or smoke and until the MCs, had never had anything go wrong...

Scan wise, I have a GP appt on Monday, so will ask then for 8 week scan. My EPU consultant said they'd accept referral from GP.

I think it seems like a really good idea to wait until after the scan to book in. Will try that.

Last pg I was 1:3200 when I had the combined screen when I was 39. Hoping it's similar this time!

Fingers crossed, Lucy and London

PJen · 10/10/2013 15:43

I am a good ol' 73 vintage too :) I like to think I am fit too but I do have lots of blood clotting issue (genetics) and for some reason I miscarry...

Only 6 weeks and 5 days today with still lots of miscarriage risks!! my current rmc is awesome. I did a scan yesterday and have another one due in 2 weeks. They scan every two weeks throughout the first trimester. I wish I could stay here till I am done with first trimester. :(

I am getting referred to genetic centre to do harmony test and get educated on risks of CVS and amnio. I don't believe in nuchal ultrasound alone. My risk with DC1 was super low too but the three years age difference (mine) makes a huge difference in elevating my risks so I am going to do everything possible to ensure these kiddies are healthy.

Lets pray we all don't miscarry...

PJen · 10/10/2013 15:44

Lucy and London I really do hope you both have good news for us soon

TinyTear · 10/10/2013 15:56

Pjen my last pregnancy was like that, scans at 6, 8, 10 weeks (at the RMC in St. Mary's) then out to the wilds of the NHS with scans at 12 and 20 weeks...

Except i was at a training hospital so got offered more scans to help people train (like a blood flow scan and so on) and then got GD so had more scans every two weeks between 30 and 40 weeks...

I loved all the scans!!

PJen, I read that Harmony wasn't possible in twins, but I hope you get told differently!

PJen · 10/10/2013 16:10

I love more scans too Tiny

I talked with my consultant yesterday about harmony. harmony is possible in twins but the results are not as accurate. I don't care about 90% or 80% accuracy and want it. Nothing is very accurate in twins pregnancy. Nuchal is just ultrasound and no blood test. CVS they may mix the samples. Amnio, they may hit one fetus when trying to get sample from another. So all very risky and not that accurate. At least with harmony I am not increasing the miscarriage risks. If the harmony shows something, then I can follow up with CVS or Amnio. Although, I have to keep reminding myself that the consultant said I will most likely lose one child or both due to my history. I shouldn't get used to the idea of twins too much :(

TinyTear · 10/10/2013 17:49

I hope you will end up with your twins! it's good your consultant is on board

Penguinita · 10/10/2013 19:55

I have my booking in appointment tomorrow - I'm sure it is way too early and they will tell me to go home and come back in a couple of weeks! But if they don't then I will ask again about getting an early NHS scan, the midwife at my first appointment said no but it can't hurt to try again.

Otherwise I will go private. DH isn't keen on early scan though, he says there'd is nothing you can do about it if it is bad news, but I just need to know. I'd like the Harmony test but it is £750 here Sad

I'm 36, I feel quite the baby of the bunch, that is a novelty! Smile

Twins PJen! How fabulous!

TinyTear · 11/10/2013 08:33

Have a good appointment today Penguinita!

LondonSuperTrooper · 11/10/2013 08:51

Pen where are you based? Good luck with your appointment today.

Lucy have you done the CB test yet?

I did the test this morning and I've got 3+ :) I had some spotting yesterday and as a result I'm having a scan later on today. I just hope that everything is OK with the beanie.

If this pregnancy goes well, then I'm intending to do it just after my nuchal scan.....

Have a good day everyone & please wish me luck for my scan.

lucyfluff · 11/10/2013 09:07

Hiya ladies, it's not good news. CB digi said not pregnant...so it was definatly a chemical pregnancy :( I have just rang GP who was really nice and said he would put it on my records, and that it's very common.

Spoke to DH last night about ttc again if it wasn't good news and we will start straight away. I guess sometimes things happen for a reason.

Good luck to everyone else and happy/healthy pregnancies xx

TinyTear · 11/10/2013 09:23

So sorry Lucy! Good luck for a July or August baby then...
I am an August baby so it's a good month.
xx

Penguinita · 11/10/2013 10:08

Oh no lucy, what a bummer! I'm so sorry Sad. I know you'll be feeling gutted, but on the positive side your body is clearly getting back to normal and you can start trying again. Sometimes it can take weeks for the residual pregnancy hormones to clear. Good luck for the future Thanks

Hope your scan goes well london. I'm based in the north west so not much choice of hospitals or private clinics here.

Quite nervous about my booking appointment later, I'm not good with needles and my sister told me they take LOTS of blood, eek.

TinyTear · 11/10/2013 11:13

Booked my 8w scan!!!!

I will be 7+5 next Friday at midday... Just told my boss I am working at home that day. He knows of the pregnancy and past miscarriage history so he really good with that...

NERVOUS!!!!!!!!!

LondonSuperTrooper · 11/10/2013 14:53

Lucy, just replied to you on the other thread. I hope that you are OK.

I just had my scan and all the sonographer can see is a sac. I need to have another scan next week. I hope that it's a viable pregnancy.

lucyfluff · 11/10/2013 15:30

Hiya London, I'm good thankyou :) not feeling too bad.

That's great news about the scan, it's prob too early to see a HB isn't it. I remember having an early one at 6+2 and saw one so maybe next week you will :)

I will keep an eye on this thread and see how you get. Good luck x

TinyTear · 11/10/2013 15:55

London, a sac means there is something there, better than a black hole, hope next week you see something. how many weeks are you today?

Penguinita · 11/10/2013 19:33

london, how agonising to not get a clear answer, but at least there is something there. Fx for next week, keep us posted.

Good luck for next Friday tiny!

My booking appt went well, I didn't faint even after three vials of the red stuff! It was the same midwife that I saw before so didn't bother asking about an early scan and will start researching private clinics. I do have my 12 week scan date now though, 18th November - feels as far away as next century!

LondonSuperTrooper · 11/10/2013 20:13

Thanks Lucy. It'd be lovely if you popped in here every now & then to check in us. Hopefully you'll have done good news to share with us soon :)

Tiny, according to my calcs I'm 6 weeks today, but GP dates 5+5. They need to rescan me in 10 days time. So with my lack if symptoms it'd very much a case of wait and see.

I remember having some symptoms with my DS around this time. I'm just really worried at the moment :(

LondonSuperTrooper · 11/10/2013 20:15

Pen, thanks & well done on being brave. There will lots more blood tests in the future so today was a good warm up ;)

And how exciting that you've got your 12 week scan booked already.

TinyTear · 11/10/2013 20:51

Penguinita, my 12 week one is that day as well
