Congratulations MoonbluesThanks

I'm in a fucking terrible mood today. I could literally rip someone's head off. Everything aches and I am sick of being pregnant. Moan moan moan. And my wifi isn't working so having to use 3G which is slower than dial up at the moment!

MrsHoratioNelson · 07/10/2013 18:16

What a surprise moon and congratulations. Had you been told he was a girl?

Tucking I think your EDD is a fair bit behind mine? Where are all these MW giving out sweeps before 40 weeks?! Grin Mine didn't even mention it until I saw her at 38 weeks

Natalieand · 07/10/2013 18:24

mrsh my midwife said they routinely offer a sweep at 40 weeks to first time mums and 41 weeks too second+ time mums but as I'm under consultant care she has documented in my notes I can have sweeps a weekly from week 38 and induction of labour at 41 weeks don't midwife is able to do it otherwise I would have had to wait like everyone else.

Also to those who commented on what maternity assesment said 'this scan covers u for 7 days of reduced movements' she said she's never heard such crap in her life and even if I had a scan yesterday and he wasn't moving today she would still want me to go in and be seen.

Also she said she was very suprised they didn't induce me on Friday for reduced movements as its the 4th episode and being so close to due date. Wish she had told me that before cos I would have asked them to induce lol

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/10/2013 18:32

Congratulations moon! Thanks

Nat will they induce you now?

Pinkforboys · 07/10/2013 18:36

Congratulations moon!
Fancy her turning into he! I had a good look at my last scan for fear of the same thing happening here- I guess you can't be absolutely sure of the sex til she/he is in your arms...! (Mind you a friend had a baby boy and they thought he was a girl for the first few hours as his testes hadn't descended!)

flyer have some empathetic WineWineWine from me. I'm in serious need of a good sleep or a slapping with the mood I'm in.

Not sure how I'm going to make it to MDU tomorrow morning for my assesssment. Which reminds me...Pseudo pseudo wherever you are, let me know if I can drop in and see you tomorrow! (If I can hobble as far as the post-natal ward...)

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 07/10/2013 18:56

Congratulations moon - I hope little Cormac gets the hang of things once the sleepiness wears off. Your older DCs sound truly lovely.

Can I join the grumpy, feeling like old women gang? Last week, I thought my mobility couldn't get much worse, but over the past couple of days things have really gone down hill. The thought of the school runs tomorrow, plus a dog walk and a trip to the docs makes me want to weep.

I've tested positive for white blood cells in my urine twice now so the doctor wants to take a swab. I thought this could be a sign of a UTI, but surely a swab wouldn't show this up? I also forgot to ask whether I'd need to tell anyone about this if I go into labour (the latest results aren't on my notes). Very confused as at my last midwife appointment my urine tested clear and she told me not to worry.

Oh Wicked - like you, I had one of those 'lovely' false labour nights again last night. Very tiring both physically and emotionally...suspect I'm not going to know when the real thing strikes now.....or at least not until I'm really far gone.

Nat - I think you're right - a vaginal exam might be useful to know where i'm up to even if I don't have a sweep. Hope you got yourself a lovely lunch x

SC at 40 weeks today.

Natalieand · 07/10/2013 19:12

orange the impression I got from my midwife was if I go in again with reduced movements they will induce me as its only 7 days from my due date anyway and wouldn't be worth the risk to them, but now I think my mind might play tricks on me as too how much movement I'm feeling through the excitement of possible induction lol.

As I say she tried to do a sweep but cervix was soft central but closed now everything down there just aches so bad so maybe it has done some good I'm just gunna keep an eye as best I can on movements over the next few days and see if its worth going back in for without the induction excitement taking over me

diege · 07/10/2013 19:20

Congrats moon!!! Lovely news, though I'm sure she being a he will take some getting used to. Had you bought pink?
notsoold sounds like it won't be long for you. I too had 'false' labour pains last night - contraction-type pains every 20 mins or so - super-panicked what with the placenta praevia but all settled by this morning. A lot scarier in the night with childcare worries - just hoping I can last it out till cs date.

PseudoBadger · 07/10/2013 19:57

Sorry for delay, they do electives in the basement so not reception! Caoimhe Lily born 17:11 weight 7lb 1oz. Not the most fun section in terms of cannulation and epidural siting but she's worth it. Also a pre eclampsia bite just before with very high BP and ++ urine got the medics all excited! Photos soon on FB....
Congratulations Moon, sorry if I've missed more births today!

Natalieand · 07/10/2013 20:05

Yay a girl and a boy to end the day, congratulations pseudo looks like the c sec was booked perfectly timing wise then, enjoy your first night with your little bundle. Looking forward to seeing pics xxx

Natalieand · 07/10/2013 20:34

Need advice please ladies; especially those with school she children and the teachers ...

They have had a confirmed case of hand foot and mouth diseaSe at dd's pre school today.... I'm undecided whether to keep her off temporarily as the baby is due in 7 days and I'm worried she wil get it at the same time as the baby is born or am I way over re acting?

Sanjifair · 07/10/2013 20:35

Congratulations Pseudo! I love the name (my cat is called Kiva).

claphammama · 07/10/2013 20:48

congrats pseudo and moon! Thanks

moon what a surprise!

nat sorry, absolutely no idea... perhaps worth calling your GP tomorrow to ask?

bridget hope your tests will be ok. Do you know what exactly they want to test for?

MrsH I have a mountain of ironing here... shirts, bedding... take your pick. If you think this may help you... my door is wide open! I'm selfless Grin

the last episode of Midwives in 10min everyone!!

tuckingfits · 07/10/2013 20:50

MrsHN yes you are probably right - I'm not due until 13th. Can't remember your date but I know it was earlier than mine. I am irrationally pissed off by 5 days of contractions & mucus plug. I am delighted when everyone meets their babies but I am wishing it were my turn :)

Flyer747 · 07/10/2013 20:52

Thanks for the reminder Clapham I'd forgotten.

When the heck is this mucus plug gonna drop out..?!?!

tuckingfits · 07/10/2013 20:53

Oh & I was given a sweep by my consultant so early as they are doing everything they can so that I can avoid ELCS as I am aiming for VBAC after a shitty time last time. They won't induce me due to risk of uterine rupture so all they cam do is sweeps & obviously if cervix had been high & posterior & closed etc it wouldn't have been possible.

Congratulations to Pseudo & moon. Looking forward to fb pics!xx

claphammama · 07/10/2013 20:55

no idea... I get hopeful every time I go to the toilet (ie. every 15min) and noting here... Sad The only thing I get is stronger and more frequent BHs...

claphammama · 07/10/2013 20:56

meant - nothing here

Livened · 07/10/2013 21:04

Anyone else watching midwives? Hoping it gives Baby the hint at 39+2 and SC!

pinkbuttons · 07/10/2013 21:12

Congratulations pseudo and moon !!

yey to mrsH sounds like it wont be long. also jealous of all early sweeps mine wont give me me one until after 41 weeks and since she onky works Thursdays Ill be 41+5 Hmm may plead for one this week. would at least like to know if theres anything going on up there.. Blush

Racheld33 · 07/10/2013 21:15

Hi all, sorry for lack of contact

It's a girl! Harriet was born yesterday at 17.50. Weighing 8-11.
After my waters went on Friday, I was booked in for induction Sunday lunchtime. But when I got there she examined me before putting in the pessary and I was already 6cm dilated (I wasn't having contractions?!?) so they moved me to the suite and broke my fore waters, and after 60 mins of contractions she was born (also with her hand up next to her head-super woman!) no stitches, so all gone well, but stayed overnight just to check no signs of infection because waters had broken 48 hours before.

Hope everyone ok, and congrats to the new babies! Thanks
