Congrats shirehobbit! Looking forward to reading your birth story now.
livened I have tried swaddling Ailla but she likes to have her hands near her face and so just fights and fights until she gets them free (she's like a little Houdini). Last night I swaddled her body from under her armpits in the hope she'd still benefit from being more snug. She still managed to roll onto her side and then started getting stressed wanting to feed again.
Thanks clapham and tarlia. I took your advice and am now feeding her again, this time having woken her up from a lovely sleep on Daddy's chest to do so. She latched on for 10 minutes then dropped off, so I straight away disturbed her again and got her back on. That was 30 minutes ago. My boobs are starting to solidify, so fingers crossed she's starting to get more filling grub! She's had 2 big stinking poos this morning, so I guess that's suggestive that she is taking on something! So pleased because Saturday night was incredibly tough for me with her constantly feeding and crying and clearly hungry and I felt like such a useless Mother not being able to provide for her (I know it's all normal, but at 4am having only had about an hours sleep since I gave birth it easily gets to you as I am sure you all know!)
Amazingly I only had 90 minutes sleep last night in total, yet today I feel more refreshed and confident than I did before. I think it's just because I know she must be getting something now as when she drops off there is often milk dripping from her mouth/my boob, so I am more confident that all of this feeding isn't just for the sake of it. After her doctors appointment today I will leave her with DH and get some sleep.
Pleased to hear that sore nipples are normal. I am sure she is latched on properly, all of the right signs are there, but it does sting! I don't see how it couldn't when your nipples are such a sensitive part of your body and they aren't used to that sort of treatment!
