Tarlia - DS announced on the middle of Argos today that "I love my baby sister" :o We've been saying for the past fees days that he might meet the baby soon/that day, and we haven't decided what to say tomorrow yet....

I think I had tea and a small amount of toast about 2 hours after my section with DS, but they had kept me nil by mouth during labour (since the pessary 24 hours before!!) so I was ravenous.

OrangeBlossom2 · 06/10/2013 17:38

Thanks Tarlia.

OrangeBlossom2 · 06/10/2013 17:50

That's sweet badger :)

claphammama · 06/10/2013 18:10

congratulations funkky (wow a big boy...!!) and congratulations bowlful! Do you already have any names in mind?

and good luck shire! looks like no babies want to be born on the 13th Grin

imp don't think you can just jump the queue and go before me now Angry

flyer Angry about your DP... is he trying to make up for it tonight? hope so!

and nat you are not unreasonable at all! these last days are so precious - I'm also very possessive of our time together these days.

Caz congrats on all the awards - your boys must be so proud! Grin and glad the baby waited for them to be back and you can relax now

pseudo almost there! at last you will be freed of all BP problems and constant monitoring trips!

tarlia I'm sure the scar will heal nicely... just needs some time. Are you feeling better today? Is your headache gone?

I slept a bit better last night (despite 5 toilet trips) and felt less hot. I took the mattress protector off before going to bed - must have been this then... 37+5 today and SC with no signs... after feeling weird on Friday and Saturday, I'm feeling normal today and there is nothing indicating that labour is near... I had some very mild pains under my belly last night but I think it was my wishful thinking more than anything else... I'm honestly ready now... I walked for miles yesterday and today. Feeling exhausted now but about to start cooking... DS being demanding so it will be a long night!

Tarlia · 06/10/2013 18:17

funkky don't be pressured to top him up if you do not want to as babies are born with reserves, though if he is shaky then he probably really needs the top up. Have they actually taken his blood and tested his blood sugar level? I hope you didn't buy many newborn clothes! Does he even fit in 0-3? My nephew was 10lb10 too. I've just remembered you 40+4 photo - where on earth were you hiding him???

badger that is SO cute! Bless him!
Wow you must have been starving! Why were you nil by mouth from pessery? I was given some squash in recovery but it was mostly purple water. I was offered a biscuit too but wasn't interested, but I'd had a full dinner only 2 hours before my CS.

Tarlia · 06/10/2013 18:23

clapham so glad you are feeling better now. Sending baby eviction vibes your way! Do you have plans for this week? Nope, still have the headache and Bp up :( I remember you saying about lack of sleep - actually I've been very lucky during the nights so far, he wakes between 11/12 then goes 3 hours then 4hours. I know this wont last, but huge difference from DS1!

Wickedgirl · 06/10/2013 18:24

Looking at the spreadsheet, the girls are making a comeback! My dd (almost 15) is loving all of the baby pics and gets very excited when I tell her another baby has been born. Can't wait for my turn

Shootingstarsandcomets · 06/10/2013 18:29

Just popping in quickly to say I've just lost my mucous plug! Sorry tmi but I'm quite excited as seriously hoping things are moving down there now and I might soon have a baby!
Watch me go two weeks overdue now I've said that!

PseudoBadger · 06/10/2013 18:34

Tarlia it's all a bit of a memory blur but my waters broke without going into labour and my cervix was unfavourable, I think they were pretty certain I'd need the drip (which I did) - however I'm not absolutely clear why I was kept NBM :(

Go shooting!

ananikifo · 06/10/2013 18:38

funkky my nephew was 10 lb 5 and had hypoglycaemia when he was born. We were all worried for him but apparently it's not uncommon at that size. Since leaving hospital he's been extremely healthy (my mom tells me weekly how perfect he is) and I wish you the same.

claphammama · 06/10/2013 18:48

exciting shooting! hope this is it for you!

tarlia sorry you are still struggling Sad but impressive he sleeps so well. You are BFing too right? Your milk must be really good then. No big plans here for next week. Have to do a massive shop tomorrow as the fridge is empty (again...?!!) and have DS's class mums' cheese and wine party on Thursday night. So hope to be able to make this one. You were right... it's very cliquey here... to be honest some mums seem lovely. I think I just come a bit late to the game as worked full time last year and they all bonded when kids were in reception. So I think I will have to work on it a bit to get in and be part of the crowd now!

Shirehobbit · 06/10/2013 18:50

No homebirth for me - need to go in before 9pm (will need AB drip before 10pm - 24hrs after first water breakage)
Baby currently back-to-back so pretty painful, but little one is still active, despite being engaged, so may yet turn.
Thanks for all the good wishes x

dontworryjustpanic · 06/10/2013 19:15

I think I've turned into a compulsive eater over the last couple days. I don't ever really feel hungry, just constantly have a strong urge to snack/graze. Does anyone else have this or am I just a glutton?

dontworryjustpanic · 06/10/2013 19:17

Sorry to hear you can't have your home birth Shire. Good luck, hope induction goes well

funkky · 06/10/2013 19:22

tarlia he is very shakey. In fact he came out cried a bit and started shaking and sucking his fingers. I insisted on bf and he does feed but non stop and he is onviously never full so he has topped up with formula and his blood will be tested again tonight to see if its improved as he had a lot of formula.
They cup fed him the formula rather that bottle fed so he will not get used to the bottle teat and will still be able to bf when my milk comes in hopefully.

funkky · 06/10/2013 19:25

Re. He fits into 0-3 m

funkky · 06/10/2013 19:26

He fits into 0-3 months tho not for very long at this rate!

ananikifo · 06/10/2013 19:31

funkky I hope his blood tests improve! It sounds like you're doing what you need to do to keep his sugars up and the hospital is trying not to interfere with your breastfeeding. I hope you get to take him home soon.

shire I'm sorry it's not going as planned but good luck!

textbook · 06/10/2013 19:52

Congrats to bowlful and funkky on your lovely new babies ThanksThanksThanks enjoy your snuggles!

Tarlia how is your scar looking? I'm too scared to look at mine [wuss] Dp says it looks like a purple felt tip line, but I'm worried as there's a teeny tiny hole at one end. Midwife says it should heal up in a few days, but it's stressing me out Sad it's annoying as I'm feeling almost human again now, but I'm worried about tearing it if I do too much. Going a bit stir crazy at home and eating too much toast and jam!!

Pseudo are you OWT tomorrow? Good luck if so, will be thinking of you x

JellyCurls · 06/10/2013 19:56

I am back to wifi and mn, oh how I have missed you.

Looking at the spreadsheet there have been a lot of births so congrats to everyone, not even going to try catch up. My gorgeous little JellyBaby "Jamie" is doing well although at 4 days old he is a bit jaundiced and looks to have list weight. Midwife says he looks healthy and will check his weight tomorrow. He is wanting to feed constantly all through the night so I am exhausted, is this normal for a bf baby?

Still trying to get mobile fully from section but slowly getting there, thank goodness for Arnica tablets! My belly is numb though hope feeling comes back at some point.

Sorry for not keeping up will try be a better mumsnetter now I am back home x

Pinkforboys · 06/10/2013 19:57

Oooh Shire good luck! Sorry not homebirth, but always good to know you're in the safest place for both of you.

Pseudo enjoy your 3some snuggles tonight.

Good luck with the feeding funkky

shooting good luck too! Hope it keeps ramping up from here...Grin

dontworry the only way i don't stop constantly eating is if I leave the house...Blush And there I was wondering how I've managed to put on more than 3 stone...

I honestly have no idea how I'm going to get DS up to the school gates tomorrow. How have you guys with PGP managed? I feel like I've got a bowling ball between my legs (which I guess is actually pretty accurate!) and can't put any weight on my right leg without shooting pains. I waddled about 200yards in Hyde Park today- pathetic compared to Pseudo & Clapham's epic walks!

Looking forward to seeing the new bubbs tomorrow xxx

Livened · 06/10/2013 20:07

Congrats to everyone and their new additions!

Jelly my DS fed constantly on the boob for the first 8 weeks. When I finally switched him to formula, he downed 9oz! Hungry boy. Only wish he'd still eat as well now he's a stroppy toddler ;-)

X

roofio87 · 06/10/2013 20:16

gosh this thread is hard to catch up with when you have a newborn.
good luck to those swil!!

mw came over today and after trying and struggling to feed him from bottle herself admitted that he was a terrible feeder and shes not suprised bf was hard. he's now upping his feeds but still hardly taking any. he's too sleepy/fussy. so feeling better about switching to bottle so in know how much he is actually getting.
going to ring mw tomorrow as I'm having hardly any lochia. just like a very light period, do you think I should worry about that?

also my tip of the day- post birth new pyjamas. just put them on and I feel so much better!! Smile

GTbaby · 06/10/2013 20:30

Roofio I know exactly what u mean. I come on read back about 10 posts then have to stop to sort DSs out.

Jelly constant feeding is totally normal! We are now 1.5 weeks and are now settling in to a feed every few hours. However some feeds are very long.

Ds is also jaundice. At 5days old had lost weight. Being weighed again tomorrow. Hope he has put a bit on fx

MrsHoratioNelson · 06/10/2013 20:50

Glad to hear you have had some reassurance Roofio

Feeling thoroughly fed up this evening. My feet and ankles are so itchy I would quite cheerfully undergo amputation and the rest of me is not far behind. DH made a good start by getting the nursery door to fit, but now it's still off its hinges and I don't understand why. He doesn't seem to get that I am associating the lack of a nursery door with the distinct lack of baby in the Nelson household Hmm. He spent all afternoon faffing about with the patio doors in the kitchen which were about 47th on the list of snagging things we still have to do to the house. Naturally, it didn't go according to his plan and he is now sulking. I am being less than sympathetic.

I have swerved on enduring lunch listening to my mother telling me to relax by arranging coffee with one of the NCT girls who has already had her baby. And I am seeing the MW tomorrow and she should give me a sweep, so fingers crossed that works.
