gt, roofio I'm finding reading the thread ok but posting more difficult!

PseudoBadger · 06/10/2013 21:16

Well my nesting instinct certainly waited until the last minute! In between ds's bedtime and the start of Homeland I re packed my hospital bag and the back up bag (depending on length of stay), wrapped presents to/from DS and baby, prepared everything for tomorrow. Enjoying homeland now. Annoyed I haven't managed to finish Breaking Bad before she is born...
So I have to be at the hospital for 12pm tomorrow. I'll do my best to update you all :-)

carcassonne · 06/10/2013 21:24

Checking in (long term lurker, v occasional poster) to let you know that our little chap Arthur was born at 12.40 today, on his due date, at home as planned. Very quick active labour (an hour) after waters breaking yesterday & niggling overnight. Was very intense & much more painful than my first but still a great experience. Midwife made it about 25 mins after birth so just DH & I. In some ways perfect-though would have loved MW to have been there.
Congrats to other new mothers & good luck to all those SWIL/SC/SFW

xuntitledx · 06/10/2013 21:28

Sorry to hear you can't have your home birth Shire - hope everything goes well for you!

Best of luck pseudo for tomorrow!

Squeeee, more babies!

PseudoBadger · 06/10/2013 21:34

Thanks!

moonblues is also having a cs tomorrow I think.

ananikifo · 06/10/2013 21:35

Wow congrats carcassonne!

legallyblond · 06/10/2013 21:40

With 2 newborns I def can't keep up. But Funkyy - hsvevtonpist to say I had exactly this issue with Vskentina. I topped up after each feed with formula and she eventually got three ok blood sugars in a row (over 2.75) so we could be discharged. As soon asy milk came in I topped up with expressed milk, then once she was gaining weight (ir not losing - she only regained birth weight after ten days) stopped topping up altogether - hurrah. That was after about a week I think. We also used a sippy cup - get them to give you some to take home. Actually, once home, I found s large syringe worked best. Keep going!!!!

legallyblond · 06/10/2013 21:43

And constant feeding very very normal - it really only lasts a few days. And the twins are still mildly jaundiced now (they'll be 4 weeks on tues)...

legallyblond · 06/10/2013 21:47

God, excuse typos... They're just waking up for final "bedtime" feed now....

Wickedgirl · 06/10/2013 21:56

Congratulations carcassonne

Good luck to those of you being booked in tomorrow for various procedures. This time tomorrow, we should have at least 2 more babies. How exciting.

JellyCurls · 06/10/2013 22:14

Boobs so full I can't move so have expressed a few oz and DH is happily sitting here giving him a top up feed. Off to bed for way may be a long night feeding again so good luck to those booked in for tomorrow x

moonblues · 06/10/2013 22:36

Thanks for remembering pseudo. Think I'm all packed and just about to head in for a shower. I have to be at the hospital for 6.45am! Though they keep telling me I might not be done til the afternoon. Have to fast from midnight, which I'm a bit worried about as I have a horrible pregnancy related blocked nose, and keep waking up during the night with a mouth like sandpaper, and I don't know how I'm going to cope without any water...

Very strange to think that this time tomorrow (all going well) I'll have a baby... Felt a bit emotional putting the kids to bed, though they're both very excited, which is very sweet.

Good luck to everyone OWT and SWIL, and congratulations to everyone whose had a baby over the past couple of days, haven't really had a chance to catch up fully. Good vibes to those who are SC & SFW. :)

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 06/10/2013 22:41

Evening ladies, really struggling to keep up with everyone. I'm trying to concentrate on DD as much as possible in these last few days pre-baby, so I've been attempting to ban myself from checking the thread too often Grin

Congratulations to Bowlful , funkky and carcassonne - I hope you are all doing well. The little bundles are certainly arriving thick and fast these days (and making me both slightly jealous and rather nervous).

So pleased it was such a successful weekend for your bovine babies Caz - I hope everyone is back home now.

Pseudo (and other ladies scheduled for tomorrow) - Good luck - it must be such a strange feeling knowing you are on the brink of meeting your little one. I think I must be the only October bus passenger not packing Percy pigs!

MrsHN - the itchy sounds awful Flowers

Felt truly rubbish yesterday and thought it could be the pre labour "clear out" that people talk about, but here I am SC at 39+6. Midwife has suggested a sweep on Wednesday but I'm strangely reluctant...is anyone else thinking of turning one down?

ananikifo · 06/10/2013 22:42

Good luck moonblues and everyone else having a baby tonight or tomorrow! (Or ever, really).

I always show DH the baby pics on Facebook and we both gush over them. Tonight I was coming to bed and he asked of there were any more pictures of babies on my Facebook. Luckily there were! Grin Congrats to everyone and your gorgeous little ones.

diege · 06/10/2013 22:43

Good luck for tomorrow moon! I will be where you are this time next Sunday (section booked for 14th). Can you really not have any water after midnight???!!
Lovely to hear of new babies arriving - sounds like it will be another busy week next week - not sure why I'm surprised, it is October after all Grin.
Sleep as well as you can everyone!

SeriousStuff · 06/10/2013 22:46

Huge congratulations carcassonne!! And great to hear you managed yourselves!

Tarlia · 06/10/2013 22:51

clapham yup, I'm breast feeding. I'm sure it'll bite me in the bum and next week he will be awake every hour. I actually think he has a tongue tie so getting that checked ASAP. I'm sure you can work your way in with the other parents. Good luck at your cheese and wine get together.

carca congratulations on baby Arthur. DS1 2.7 randomly said we should call the baby Arthur when asked the other day. No idea where it came from as we do not know any Arthur's!

funkky poor mite. You are def doing the right thing, he clearly really needs those top ups. Both of my DS had to have formula in first few days DS1 because he was so sleepy and DS2 because he was in NICU - then both fully breast fed.

shooting fingers crossed!!

textbook well I can only see about 1" as dr said to keep strips on until I can bare no more or they fall off to keep the scar as close as possible. I can see a really very thin red line.

jelly my tummy is still numb too. I read it can take a while for feeling to come back.

chickie did you guys get home?

badger and moon look forward to your news and photos!

Tarlia · 06/10/2013 22:57

I want to share my achievement - I've been able to walk without crutches a bit tonight, so long as I have a wall to hold. Yay! I can still feel my pelvis grind and move when I turn in bed, but it's so nice to physically see some improvement and to be reminded that this will pass.

MrsO27 · 06/10/2013 23:24

Sorry, falling behind here a bit too. Congrats to all who've had babies this weekend.
I'm SC at 37+4. No real signs yet either other than very mild period like cramps.

PseudoBadger · 06/10/2013 23:33

I think I need a good slap. I'm feeling so sad for my DS and changing his world. I know I know everyone feels like this and I know we will all adapt - but why has it crept up on me tonight? It's all a bit real now and i'm scared. I can't tell DP as I'll get the old 'well it was your choice' rubbish, and he won't get it as he's not an only child - I am. I think I'm feeling worse as I'm having the section so have to be apart from DS when he needs my support, and i'm scared about him accidentally on purpose hurting my wound/scar so I'll probably keep him at arms length. Sorry everyone :(

Tarlia · 06/10/2013 23:44

Sending hugs your way badger. I'm not an only child, but felt just the way you do now but I of course knew the beifits of having a sibling too so could talk myself down a bit. Really having a sibling is a lovely gift. As for DS hurting you, my tip is when sat down keep the breast feeding pillow there, that way the wound is totally protected even if he comes to sit on your lap to cuddle. Actually my DS saw my tummy for the first time Friday and since he saw the "plaster" steri strips he has been so much more careful as he assosiates plasters with his own cuts and bruises, so if your DS would respond to that, might be worth showing and explaining straight away - I'd just said I had a sore tummy until then.

PseudoBadger · 06/10/2013 23:48

Thank you so much Tarlia, you truly are a lovely person Flowers
I just know it'll be tough for a while but hopefully will be worth it in the end....
I am definitely going to show him the wound as soon as appropriate I think, and that's a great tip about the pillow.

moonblues · 06/10/2013 23:52

pseudo you are changing his world, but in a good way! My DS and DD are the best of friends. There's nothing quite like the adoration of a younger sibling and since my DD was about 4 months my DS has been the one who makes her laugh more than anyone else and makes her happy when she's crying. Children are incredibly quick to adapt to new things and I'm sure your DS will be much gentler than you think. Flowers

tuckingfits · 07/10/2013 01:12

Congrats on all your lovely new babies ladies. I'm finding it easier to keep up on Facebook, although I am still reading on here & will post again soon.

I had a sweep on Thursday at 38+4,1cm dilated, cervix soft & long. Have been in what I think is early labour on & off ever since. I've been passing the mucus plug since too. Seriously how much is there???? I am quite fed up now of being this uncomfortable & stuff. I know every practice contraction is beneficial & it's all going in the right direction, but come on - get a mooove on!!!

MotherOfNations · 07/10/2013 01:22

For those not on Fb I got a room in one of the Ronald McDonald house flats. I really wasn't expecting it but got the news when I arrived at the hospital this afternoon. I didn't have any meds with me or a change of clothes so I phoned ds to tell him to pack my meds, magazines and a change of clothes. I could have cried when I opened the bag and what I had was iron tablets a d folic acid. No clothes or magazines. I was really sore by this time as I'd already missed a dose. Dp will have to keep dc off school again tomorrow so he can get to me first thing.

They took Eliana off the meds that are keeping her duct open on Friday night to see if it would stay open by itself. It started to close again so they put her back on the meds yesterday morning. This means she will definitely need the BT shunt surgery. We'll find out tomorrow when that will happen.

She had her first taste of milk today in tiny 1ml syringes. She has one every hour. She loved it and cried for the whole hour after first one today because she wanted more.
I changed her nappy for the first time today too.
Dp still hasn't held her. He's too scared I case he pulls one of the many th es and wires she's attached to.

Congratulations to all those with new arrivals and I wish a speedy labour to all those with broken waters and lost mucus plugs.

Roofio please don't beat yourself up for giving up on breast feeding. I've been there so many times. It's not as easy as some women would lead you to believe and it's completely exhausting. Happy mum= happy baby.
