flyer sorry about grp b strep hassle

pinkbuttons · 05/10/2013 19:38

Sorry to hear about the group b strep results flyer but thank goodness you got yourself tested. How do you go about making sure you get the antibiotics now? surely they cant ignore the results.

MrsH I have had "sympathetic" messages from people today. They have gone from texting for news to phoning to tell me she will come when shes ready. Ive also had 3 different family members making requests for the day shes born to fit in with their timetables Hmm seriously people I would not still be pregnant if I could organise giving birth.

Flyer747 · 05/10/2013 19:59

Orange not at all did it come across that way. I'm glad your results came back as normal.

The text reads as:
Your GBS result is POSITIVE. IV antibiotics should be offered at start of labour. For info contact your Midwife or GBS Support www.gbss.org.uk 01444 416176

So I guess they can't ignore and I will contact my mw on Monday.

Clapham I hope your anxiety settles, I've had a few anxious episodes through the pregnancy. Thanks

Dp back and on BP medication and under instructions to lose weight 2.5 stone. I think it has been a wake up call so fx it has finally registered.

MrsH GrinGrin at the whale music.

cazboldy · 05/10/2013 20:10

lol pinkbuttons, my neighbour texted me this morning, to say it's her birthday, and she would really like a newborn baby cuddle today Hmm

Flyer thank goodness you decided to get tested! it's stupid that they don't!

Both my boys came 10th in their handling classes, Harry out of 19, but was 2nd highest placed in his breed, so went into the championship too. James out of 39! very proud of them, wish I could have been there, but obviously they can manage just fine without their mum! SmileFingers crossed that the calves do as well tomorrow!

The house is so quiet with just us girls here though. Picked loads of blackberries this afternoon, and done lots of cleaning...... had kfc though, so not a complete domestic goddess Grin

I only have 4 things in my laundry basket Shock (until they get home tomorrow!)

MrsHoratioNelson · 05/10/2013 20:16

caz my house has never been tidier, nor my freezer fuller Grin

In other news, elsewhere on this board I have been called a judgemental snob today. I would like to sincerely apologise to you all for any judgement you have felt at my hands. It was certainly not my intention and I will try to be better in future :)

Flyer747 · 05/10/2013 20:19

MrsH someone called you that being serious or taking the pee?

I find you funny...you have a dry sense of humour (that's how it comes across) I often chuckle at your posts.

Ignore, obviously whoever said this has no sense of humour, keep it up it entertains me Grin

PseudoBadger · 05/10/2013 20:19

Ok so who on this thread is married to the guy off Strictly who had a baby this week :o

Sorry about your results Flyer, but good that you know x

MrsHoratioNelson · 05/10/2013 20:26

Flyer they were being quite serious - rather too serious IMHO Grin. Glad to know I have entertained you :)

OP posts:
cazboldy · 05/10/2013 20:27

Mrs HN also had a sainsbo's delivery this afternon! Grin

OrangeBlossom2 · 05/10/2013 20:30

MrsH I am a bit nervous about the rest of mumsnet!

monkeytree · 05/10/2013 20:41

Just catching up with the thread after a couple of days. Congratulations to all with new babies.

Mon Missed your post about that cleaner. Cannot believe how totally insensitive and thoughtless some people can be. Glad Eliana is doing O.K, hope you get some more information regarding her progress soon.

Welcome Ready I'm on the back of the bus too with a due date of the 25th of October. Struggling now with getting about and planning my journeys carefully. Still got another week to work (3 days) or 13.5 hours will be relieved when I finish.

Hopefully by the end of the week I should have all baby preparations finished so baby please arrive soon.

Hello to all those ladies SC.

MrsHoratioNelson · 05/10/2013 20:46

Orange it serves me right for wading in on AIBU, even if I thought the Poster in question was not being unreasonable - there's just no pleasing some people Grin.

The rest of MN is fine, although I have noticed that the antenatal threads and the whole "becoming a parent" section is a little fluffier than the rest of MN. I mean that in the best possible way - people want to discuss some really difficult things on these threads and the last thing they need is people wading in to tell them how wrong they are. Just compare the support and advice MoN and others have had here, compared with the experience Hayle (I think) had in the BF topic.

OP posts:
OrangeBlossom2 · 05/10/2013 21:16

DH was wondering if pineapple juice/smoothies would be a good way of consuming enough of them to have an effect. What do you reckon ladies?

PseudoBadger · 05/10/2013 21:23

Do you enjoy diarrhoea? If so, go for it :o

Tarlia · 05/10/2013 21:25

Fingers crossed for you fem it sounds lovely.

p.buttons so glad your Bp was just a blip. Bad nights sleep and stressful morning perhaps? I think you should hang on till the 7th or 13th fun birthdates.

Teehee to the whale music advice mrsH

flyer thank goodness you paid out for the test. I've heard they do listen to the results so should get your iv. What meds have they put DP on? Fingers crossed he takes heed.

orange I think your tongue would be burning before you could drink enough :( plus its actually the core apparently not the flesh.

clapham and p.buttons having a bit of a crap time with Bp still. The meds arnt doing a thing for me, so I've an explosive headache :(. I've been referred to a cardiologist but not heard anything yet.

OrangeBlossom2 · 05/10/2013 21:25

Grin I was more hoping a normal glassful would magically produce a baby pseudo ...

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 05/10/2013 21:27

Just popping on to send my congratulations to rox - well done! Enjoy those cuddles.

Hope to catch up properly tomorrow but feeling rather sicky today - thought heartburn/reflux was meant to improve when your baby moves lower.

chickieno1 · 05/10/2013 21:31

aww tarlia thats not good that bp is still up. what meds do they have you on now? obviously meds have to be safe for bf. did they refer you to a cardiologist who specialises in wmens health/obstetrics. not everywhere has this subspecialty but might be worth asking?? Flowers

and mon that cleaner was way out of line and very unprofessional. none if her business at all to ask about yoir baby. very annoying

MrsHoratioNelson · 05/10/2013 21:32

Orange I've just eaten half of one of of those packs from Sainsburys and nothing except the predicted stomach ache so far. Pineapple often has that effect on me - sore tummy with no other symptoms. You never know though...

OP posts:
chickieno1 · 05/10/2013 21:33

orange pineapple smoothies sound a bit harsh on the tummy

claphammama · 05/10/2013 21:34

sorry to hear about your results flyer. Surely they can't ignore it now and have to give you antibiotics? I would call them on Monday to discuss. I remember one of the NCT girls had it (it was 5 years ago when I had DS) - she got antibiotics and they also wouldn't give her internal examinations as they risk spreading the bacteria further. She also couldn't have the water birth she wanted. Were you planning water birth? So good you know it and can protect your baby now! It's terrible they don't test everyone, especially when you told them you had it in the past...

feminist glad you liked your MLU! It must feel so nice knowing where you will go. I wish I could see mine but they don't so any tours in St Thomas anymore Sad

chickie pic on FB pretty please... Grin

MrsH ignore the rest of MN.

by the way, MrsH and imp I did my turbot pan roasted with fennel and potatoes - yum yum yum...

claphammama · 05/10/2013 21:38

crosspost - sorry you still have problems tarlia... all of this plus headache plus lack of sleep... must be so hard for you... Thanks

and sorry you are feeling rough Bridget Thanks for you too

PseudoBadger · 05/10/2013 21:39

Tarlia I'm so sorry that no one has been able to sort out your BP :( I hope someone can help you soon. Are they happy to let you stay at home?

Readyasilleverbe · 05/10/2013 21:40

Thanks for all the hellos! I read that the bromeline in pineapple is destroyed by processing eg canning so must be fresh and you need about 15 fresh ones a day to have an effect! Now I like pineapple but not that much........
Flyer re strep B my midwife assured me that if mine had come back positive I would be allowed antibiotics. They are given every 4 hours via an Iv cannula during labour and that could be done on the mlu. The cannula is usually in your hand so she said I would probably still be allowed in the pool but only if I could cope with keeping my hand out! So you should be fine and hopefully pretty straightforward. X

Flyer747 · 05/10/2013 21:46

Thanks all for the messages.

I'm allowed a water birth the mw said that Smile

Tarlia sorry to hear bp still not great. Thanks. Dp on a drug called Ramipril.

Clapham totes Jel of your tea, sounds yummy. Just about to cook salmon very basic in comparison.
