Sorry Piffle - meant to add well done, that's great news.

TidyJane · 03/08/2006 17:31

Hi all. Hope everyone is ok, and not feeling too sick (like I am)
Sorry I forgot to introduce myself, I'm 7 weeks pregnant and already have a 2 year old dd.

kittywits · 03/08/2006 17:54

hello and welcome to you two

kittywits · 03/08/2006 18:43

Oh anf fab news Piffle

Jaysecond · 03/08/2006 19:06

welcome newbies, and great news piffle! now CHILL OUT a bit and enjoy it!!

Well i called the hospital to see if i could move my scan dateTuesday forward( 31 August) as i am moving on the weekend beforehand, but they told me its timed so as to do the nuchal test, so therefore it wouldnt be beneficial..... so i called the docs in Notts and explained the situation, they assured me that if i went in and registered on the Tuesday after i moved there ( monday is the bank holiday!) then i will get my scan that week or at the latest early the following week, when i will be between 12 and 13 weeks, so thats not too bad. Its typical how it all goes tits up when in my head i had it planned to the 't'! Still never mind.

Cant face any dinner tonight, have only had a bowl of rice krispies and half a chicken sandwich today, food is just so unapealing [yuek emote]

dixia · 03/08/2006 19:13

Welcome TidyJane and Polo, good to have you on board .

Piffle, great news! You must be relieved.

MS seems to be taking over me again. I am still on the drugs, but they are becoming slightly less effective, probably the MS is getting stronger. I have thrown up 3 times today and spent most of the day in bed. Feel best in the evening.

I'm not putting on much weight, if fact losing a bit, except around my tummy, which looks normal. Haven't eaten much, so that would do it! Lost a lot of weight with ds, but this hasn't been as bad yet.

I think I'm having another boy, it feels pretty much the same as last time and I always imagined I would have two boys. Would be surprised if it is a girl. DP is against finding out the sex, so I guess we won't.

I have my first appointment with the midwife tomorrow - wish me luck! It will all be in Spanish. My spanish is ok, but the specific language worries me a bit. I think I'll take my dictionary with me. They do things differently over here, lots more blood tests and more chances of intervention. I hope to find out what the deal is with C sections tomorrow, whether I have to have one or not. Hoping for a good result. I wonder if they will listen for a heartbeat? Do they do that in the UK at the booking app? I can't remember. I'm 8 weeks today.

polo7571 · 03/08/2006 19:32

Hi Dixia
I had my first booking in today - all they did was take some blood and fill in a lot of forms. Nothing much seems to happen until your dating scan or Nuchal at around 12 weeks.
Good luck tommorrow.

TidyJane · 03/08/2006 19:34

Hi Dixia good luck for tomorrow! I don't know if it's anything like France, but the french also do a lot more blood tests, and a lot more scans as well (you lucky thing).
Don't worry polo, you're not the only worrier. This is my second pregnancy and I'm worried about the first 12 weeks.
I didn't have the chance to worry last time as I didn't realize until I was 15 weeks , I didn't seem to have a bump at all. This time my stomach seems to have swollen near enough from day 1. It's scary, especially because I'm not telling anyone yet, I don't want to be showing too early.

On the sickness front, it seems to be worse this time. I have to spend my time eating basically. It's the only thing that settles it (for about 20 minutes). And it seems to last all day long as opposed to just the evening with DD.

dixia · 03/08/2006 19:39

Thanks polo. I've heard lots of people talk about Nucheal fold scans, but don't remember ever hearing about them when pg with ds 4 years ago. Its a down syndrome test isn't it? I'm not sure if they do them here. I know everyone over 35 has to have an amnio here. I don't think they offer anything else. Luckily I'm only 30 so that can pass me by.

polo7571 · 03/08/2006 19:40

TidyJane - I know what you mean. I've only told husband to be and my sister guessed - hope no one else does!

TidyJane · 03/08/2006 19:51

I've also told my sister (couldn't help it ). I definately haven't told my mum, otherwise it's as good as telling the whole world, and obviously DH knows.

dixia · 03/08/2006 20:07

Sorry TidyJane, x-posted. Thanks for your good luck wishes. Are you living in France now? I can't believe you didn't know until 15 weeks last time

flannelettepyjamas · 03/08/2006 21:46

welcome Tidyjane and Polo.
And big congrats Piffle
You must be so relieved.
The early scan is important isn't it so that you realise that it really is happening.
Otherwise, it's easy to wonder if you are just imagining it all.
But to see that little heart flickering away is just magic.
My first scan's at the end of August. I'll be looking forward to it.
I did think of getting an earlier one (which would be very easy to do here) but am trying to be laid back about it.
Feeling a little sick - I actually don't mind at all (ha, remind me that I said that in a few weeks!) - as it's only mild and assures me that everything is (hopefully) going to plan!

laughalot · 04/08/2006 12:09

DollyP · 04/08/2006 12:31

Hope all goes well for you Dixia. Welcome new ladies.

Am feeling so sick today. Woke up in the night, felt dreadful and haven't really got any better. Touch and go with my dry toast this morning. Poor DD had a rich tea biscuit, a banana and some BM for breakfast . What can you make a 16 month old child which doesn't smell? We did pesto pasta last night which had me heaving a bit. Am also letting her run amok whilst I gently grip the sofa.

Thank god it's the weekend tomorrow. My plans are sleep, sleep, probably a bit of puking and sleep. What about everyone else?

Off now to the mothersbliss site for the preggie pops. Have eaten so many tictacs I think I will be toothless by march

mia84 · 04/08/2006 14:22

Ooooh Dollyp, sorry your feeling so bad! Girls im sure my belly is poking out more than usual! and it feels full and hard!! I know its too soon but im sure im not imagining it! (i am a bit podgy on the belly though)

So my scan is on tuesday! Quite quick with the date. i'll be about 11 weeks i think - ish. is that a good time for a scan?

Sorry for whingeing yesterday! i will stop. not long til i find out anyway!

ProfYaffle · 04/08/2006 15:39

Hi,

Congrats to Piffle and hello to the other fellow newbies.

Lordy, what a few days. We have found out that dh is up for redundancy, will find out for definite on Monday if he is selected or not. Peachy timing or what? We're not in dire straights financially but still not ideal news.

Hey ho, off to do his CV now!

mia84 · 04/08/2006 15:46

Oh gosh, sorry profyaf. My oh was made reundant in nov. its quite stressful But im sure it'll be fine chick.

ProfYaffle · 04/08/2006 15:49

Thanks - I don't think he will have a problem getting another job I just hope we won't have to move.

On the plus side, he's at home at the moment so I'm getting a nice siesta every afternoon which is just what I need

mia84 · 04/08/2006 15:51

I know what you mean. it's unsettling not knowing where you are with things. Im in work at the moment and could do with a bloody good nap myself! Ive got a week off now though so im going to do some serious sleeping!!

lucielu · 04/08/2006 18:24

Oh Piffle,I'm sooooooo pleased for you, what a relief!

dixia · 04/08/2006 18:26

Afternoon all! Sorry to hear about your dp profyaffle, bad timing.

I'm on the computer without a good full stop again - sorry

I had my midwife appointment this morning, it went quite well really, considering I didn't know the spanish for 'period' or 'scan' or 'birth' Needless to say, I coped and managed to answer all her questions, though I'm not sure how acurately!

I have blood tests booked for monday, but my scan wont be until 18th Sept - I'll be 14 weeks by then, so its a bit late, there's nothting I can do about it though, as I'm in the UK for 4 weeks before that

The midwife seemed to think I would have to have an elective c-section She said it was vaguely possible that I could have a natural birth, but suggested it very much depended on the doctor responsible for me and his attitude - most emergency c-sections are followed by planned c-sections on a second pg

The midwife weighed me today, I've lost 5 kilos (is that about 10 pounds?)

Feeling a bit better today - so we are off out to dinner - need to put some of that weight back on
