welcome madhide, just tell them that you have dates already booked and you want a scan date for before then, so as to make sure that everything is ok... might work, might not, at least you will have tried!
@ your mum Piffle, thats a crap thing to say, tell her if theres any more sly comments to keep them to herself at least untill you reach the 12 week mark... grrrr some people show no sensitivity.
DD is nearly 7 mths so i do get some rest bite when she naps, however just recently shes sleeping from half and hour to two hours, i just never know, so its hard to get shut eye, not knowing when shes going to wake!

I havnt told ANYONE yet about my news, its funny becasue both my Mum and sis have said to me ' so whens the next one on its way?' both in the past few days, i was so tempted to tell them... but managed to hold off!

DollyP · 28/07/2006 20:41

Hello ladies! Glad there are still lots of us here.

If you want an early scan (not just the 12 week one), you could try the EPAU (early preg assessment unit) at your local hospital. You don't need a referral but you do need a reason (eg side pain indicating possible ectopic, previous MCs). I'd be a bit wary of making something up TBH just to get a scan. I went when pg with DD as I had very bad side pains and thought ectopic was a possibility. Had numerous blood tests and a couple of tv scans which eventually showed the heartbeat. The pain was an ovarian cyst, BTW, but no treatment was needed.

I rearranged my 12 week scan 3 times to fit around my work and the hospital was very helpful. I would tell them that you've booked somewhere and ask for a better date.

Am very tired today, but so far not sick. Expect that that joy is to come. Glad ladies are finding the preggie pops helpful. I will no doubt be buying some next week.

Drink - tricky as it is a bit of a giveaway with me. I have had a few very weak shandies over the last week, claiming that the heat is making me drink too quickly and shandy is more refreshing than beer or wine. everyone seems to have bought that one. . Am on alcohol free shandies now that I have finally found some alcohol free beer. Seems to have been a bit of a run on it in S london!

Hope everyone continues to stay well and not too queasy.

Ok, excuses for not drinking alcohol:
"I've had a tummy bug and don't feel like it";
"I'm on antibiotics for a tooth abscess which clash with alcohol";
"I'm on a detox diet";
"I'm driving because LO is sick and I may have to get back quickly"
"I'm driving cos DH may get called into work and I'll have to get back to LO";
"I have a REALLY bad hangover from last night" (ha ha, I wish);

Or as Dolly P said - pretend, pretend, pretend.
Glass of clear fizzy stuff (water) masquerading as gin and tonic, vodka and lemonade, etc, etc
Have a glass of wine that you don'ta actually drink, but everyone sees you holding.
Get DH to drink it on the sly.

Piffle, you're going to be the size of a house
That's probably as helpful a comment as you mum's comments??

morocco · 28/07/2006 23:19

hi everyone, well it looks like rain is coming soon which I can't wait for! Those afternoons are a nightmare in this heat. I spent today at one of those ball pond things overheating and drinking too much fizzy pop. Yuck.
hi madhide!
omg piffle, your mum sounds hard work! Mine is going to be as negative as possible I'm sure. Her reactions to the first two were pretty much 'oh no, what have you done, your life is ruined' - you wouldn't have guessed I was 30 and married when ds1 was born, more like 14 and still at school from her take on it. But I am very envious your 4 year old still naps during the day - you are a very very very lucky lady.
I'm jealous some of you have scan dates already. dh and I joke that by the time they get round to it here, ds/dd will be 3 months born already. Lucky me, I get to meet the midwife in a week's time, then I get to go on the list for a scan, except I'm away from mid august to mid September so I guess not, then! Be lucky to make it for the 20 week one at this rate. Very bad planning on my part.

Jaysecond · 29/07/2006 18:52

everyone still ok???? very quiet, guess its because its saturday.

Well not much going on here really, just more packing, had a thunderstorm last night which cleared the horrid humidity, but its turned warm again...

Have been feeling so off my food its unreal, i eat even when i am really really ill, so for me to not fancy anything is unheard of, good job i am not round my family, theyd guess straight away! Anyone else having hot sweat type things, i know its hot weather wise but this is different, even when i feel cool i get them! Also my gums are bleeding a little when i clean my teeth (which i had last time) stillno sore boobs though, in fact i think this time round i feel totally different, how strange is that!

whippie · 29/07/2006 19:16

Sorry to crash yr thread.Just a quick hello to everyone,i've not posted on here before but did post once or twice on "positive july" post. I'm 6+5 weeks. This is my 5th pregnancy and hopefully my 4th baby. Wish everyone a happy uneventful pregnancy.

DollyP · 29/07/2006 20:16

Welcome whippie .

Not really sick yet but so tired I could sleep standing up! Felt today that my head was too heavy for my body to support it. Far too tired for the heat. Chocolate consumption up, trouser zip down as tight already! Oh dear. Can't face weighing myself. Am going to be HUGE.

What's everyone up to tomorrow ? Out to lunch with friends here. Hope it's a mere 26 degrees....

X

kittywits · 29/07/2006 20:51

I feel like someone is sitting on my boobs, sooo sore today. I hate this waiting, waiting, waiting. I so hope we all get to the other side ok.

themum · 29/07/2006 22:04

Have consumed three cornettos in 24 hours. Does that count as a craving?

whippie · 30/07/2006 10:32

i'm rather worried as my left nipple has leaked some discharge not sure if breast milk. Much to early on pregnancy for this. was wondering if it was because only stopped bf few weeks ago? Also worried as they say that in late pregnancy stimulating bm can start labour and i'm scared that bm this early will cause mc. any advice??

DollyP · 30/07/2006 10:38

Whippie, I too am bf and find my supply has increased, even though demand if anything is less! I am leaking now when I never used to.

I expect that this is BM - remember that lots of people feed all the way through pregnancy and still carry to term. I expect that a hormone surge followed by recent BF has caused leaking. If you haven't got any other symptoms (bleeding, cramping, etc) I wouldn't worry but would call the MW tomorrow just for reassurance.

You could also post on the BF section and hope tiktok or mears come along...they are around quite a lot (don't know if you know but tiktok is a BF counsellor and mears a MW so their advice is always spot on).

Stay calm. And DON'T WORRY.

XXXX

whippie · 30/07/2006 11:16

Thank you for the reassurance. will see how it goes. No other symptoms so fingers crossed all ok. hope you have a happy and uneventful pregnancy.

LaidbackinAsia · 30/07/2006 14:03

Hello everyone! DS2's 2nd birthday today and had a birthday party for 40 people. Was meant to be a small gathering but in our little Sri Lankan village - there is no such thing as a small gathering.

Chairs and tables were borrowed from the buddhist monastery across the road. I was up at 8.00am making cakes. Wowed the locals with cheese and pineapple on sticks and egg sandwiches . Played lots of games, pass the parcel, pin the trunk on the elephant (regional variation). DS2 had great day. All very tired now. Going on holiday tomorrow for 3 days - getting up at 5.00am.

Feeling a bit tired and 'booby' - but otherwise well. Checking out a couple of Sri Lankan hospitals tomorrow to see what they have on offer in the maternity dept. Had Ds2 at home - but am miles away from good hospital here so don't know if brave enough to risk it here.

Welcome Whippie - is that ice cream or bondage ???

whippie · 30/07/2006 15:00

omg i am so niave,definatly the ice cream!!!

whippie · 30/07/2006 15:01

ladybump · 30/07/2006 16:03

am so upset. have been bleeding since friday. it has been small stringy brown bits and was a complete shock. went to my emergency room and they did a trans vaginal scan but am too early to detect heartbeat bu ther was a small gestational sac. they took blood and said i have to go back 48hrs later to check HCG is still increasing. that's today in about 2hrs, but since last blood was taken on friday, have got pain and discharge/blood is getting worse. Think i'm losing my baby. I know it happens but am so devastated. dh telling me to remain positive and am trying but each time i go to the toilet and see blood it breaks my heart.

Jaysecond · 30/07/2006 16:18

AWWW ladybump, i am so sorry that you are having to go through this, You say that you have to go back to hospital to check HCG levels, i take it you are going in 2 hours? If so nothing is certain until you get the results.
I am thinking of you, and let us know how you get on, ((((hugs))))

ladybump · 30/07/2006 16:27

i know and that won't be until tomorrow. it's just so hard!

Wrighty I just want to say still thinking of you

Piffle · 30/07/2006 19:12

Oh Wrighty I am so sorry honey pie
I hope beyond hope that it can work out for you.
Please feet up and take care xxx

I got an early scan booked for coming Thursday as previous ectopic means I get one.
Will maybe breathe a little better after that...
My boobs have started killing me, nausea - not mornings funnily but pretty much 30 minutes after eating, back it comes, pretty mild atm - hope so hope it stays that way...
Dp off work for two weeks now, we spent some time doing the garden today so am properly shattered, dp cooking thai noodles for dinner
Had mum over this w/e she is really happy but wasn't sure if I was being positive outlook so was trying not to put me under any pressure...
Will tell PIL after the scan if its good news.
Phew...

ladybump · 30/07/2006 19:19

went to hospital and they took my blood. got all emotional and cried like a baby then apologised a million times and the nurse was really nice. she prepared me for both outcomes of the blood test, saying i'll have scan on friday if all is well otherwise, i'll just have to wait for full blown period. I know all the cliches (it's for the best and it was obviously not meant to be) and i believe them but it's such an emotional rollercoaster when it's you and your body. Kind of feel responsibile for DH's emotions too, it is my body that is causing all this (He'd go mad if he knew i was talking like this!)
One thing i will take from this is that firstly we can concieve, and secondly that if someone can concieve and carry a child to full term, they are truly blessed. If this one survives, i'll be eternally grateful and will never take it for granted either now or in the future.
Will keep you posted xxx

DollyP · 30/07/2006 19:59

Sending you love ladybump - take care of yourself and keep us posted.

Booboobedoo · 30/07/2006 20:00

Hi ladies.

Thanks for thinking of me coggy & piffle - I'm touched.

My MS has been worse than I could have imagined. Been unable to move - and looking at a PC makes me hurl.

I was given anti-emetics at the hospital, but I can't keep them down

Weirdly Im feeling much better today - maybe because it's cooled off.

So sorry to hear Wheelybug's news and fingers crossed for Wrighty/ladybump.

I know the uncertainty of no MS is hard for some, but I really wish I didn't have to go through this.

On the other hand, I'm 9 weeks on Tuesday, and I can already feel my bump! Do you think it's twins? I've got a funny feeling....

kittywits · 30/07/2006 20:13

Sorry lady bump, keeping my fingers crossed for you xxx
