spook · 17/07/2006 11:50

Thanks Wheelybug,
Can you call and talk to GP without having to make appt? Shows what I know!

Jaysecond · 17/07/2006 12:22

spook, its different at different doctors but could you call and stress its an emergancy and you need to speak with the doctor straight away, i used to be able to do this with my old doc, not sure about the new one. If you still havnt heard from MW i would also keep on trying her also at my hospital theres a MW unit on the maternity ward who i could call, have you tried yours? Let us know hun, in the mean time try not to panic, easier said than done, rest up and keep us informed ((hugs))

How are everyone else feeling? all morning i have been feeling strange, not MS ( i dont think) but really kind of weak and wobbely, bit shakey with a dry mouth, do feel very very tired also, anyone else feel like this?

leogaela · 17/07/2006 12:25

Spook - how are you? did you call your GP? I hpping for you that everything is ok.

I'm struggling to keep up here, but have read most of the posts since I last posted.

The last couple of days I've been feeling really terrible although I think (hope)its because I've come down with a stinking cold. DS and Dh have also been ill, ds is incredibly clingy (to me) when he's ill so its been hard work on me.

The only solutions I've found for morning sickness is sleep. Get as much as you possible can. Early nights, if you are a sahm, work at home or on holiday take a nap during the day if possible as well. MS is awful.

Laid back - I have a doctor appointment at around 10 weeks, I'm not going to bother going before then. In the UK don't people usually have a big scan at 12 weeks? What would they do at 12 weeks in Sri Lanka if you make the 4 hour trek?

Anyone else lost weight? it didn't happen last time and I'm not eating less than normal but have lost over a kilo in a week or so.

spook · 17/07/2006 13:09

Thanks leogaela and Jaysecond. I have spoken to a doctor and she said theres nothing I can do now other than sit it out. If it's gone its gone and nothing I do now will save it.
I am definately more than spotting now. I can't stop crying but I suppose thats natural.
I haven't given up hope yet
And I saw 2 magpies this morning!

Booboobedoo · 17/07/2006 13:24

Afternoon everyone.

Spook - hope you're ok. Bleeding can be caused by all sorts of (non-scary) things in the first trimester (check out www.babycentre.co.uk). Call your GP and tell the receptionist that you need a conversation with your GP urgently. Failing that, try NHS Direct. And sit with your feet up!

I've got to have a moan now. This is my first PG, and I'm SOOOOOOO sick. I've thrown up twice already this morning. After I'm sick feel ok for about 10 minutes, then I feel sick again. I mean it's constant. I know I'm coming up to the worst of it (I'm 6+6 & the worst tends to be about 9 or 10 weeks apparently)but I just don't know what to do with myself. I literally can't do anything.

I'm taking all the advice - lots of sleep, dry biscuits then rest before trying to move in the morning, plenty of fluids, plain food, little and often, ginger etc, but nothing works.

I know it probably means a good strong pregnancy and there's nothing I can do about it but I just wanted a bit of a 'poor me' moment.

Thanks

Booboobedoo · 17/07/2006 13:25

Sorry Spook - X post - hope you're ok.

Piffle · 17/07/2006 13:33

Spook... you must be worried, I hope you get to see someone who can put your mind at rest today?

I've lost weight too, about 1kg from giving up booze mostly

spook · 17/07/2006 13:47

Hi boo and piffle. I have a scan tomorrow at 3 o clock. Seems an awfully long time between now and then!
Off to dentist now believe it or not.

Jaysecond · 17/07/2006 13:55

spook, at least you have a scan which will give you a definate answer. The worst thing is the not knowing. Fingers crossed for you hun, good on you going off to the dentists, i hate them at the best of times!
Poor Boo, it must be a horrid time for you right now, and all you others with MS but just think in no time at all you will have something to show for it, and then you will forget all the sickness! ride it out, youll get ther! ((hugs))
My first scan isnt untill then end of August, now that seems like aaaaaaages away!

novadandypowder · 17/07/2006 15:02

Hi, I'd like to tentatively introduce myself here. I got a BFP today which means my EDD is roughly mid-march (will check out date calculator in a mo). Totally scared as it is very early days, and feel like I want to run out and get more tests just to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

I'm on the nov 05 post natal thread, although my DD came early on 15th october.

Me = 30, SAHM although do voluntary admin post two afternoons a week
DH = 40, artist management
DD = 9 months

Someone asked about period like cramping - yes I have it now and had it with DD, and it has scared me stupid both times. Also very very tired, and according to DH hormonal (lol!). Still in a state of shock even though we were ttc.

Jaysecond · 17/07/2006 15:34

Welcome Nova, i know what you mean about both being tentative and wanting to do more tests just to make sure!! Its a crazy time right at the start, espcially with another young one. We are in similar situations, my LO (DD) is just 6 months and whilst we talked about having another one close, we didnt expect it to happen this quick! so do you have any others?

novadandypowder · 17/07/2006 16:16

Thanks Jay. Natalie is our first, but we also wanted quite a small gap between them, and we've been ttc since she was about 5/6 months. Quite shocked this month as it must have been an 'ahem' one hit wonder

Jaysecond · 17/07/2006 16:42

lol i know what you mean, doc called hubby ' Mr super sperm' dont even know him that well!!

God its so hot isnt it, theres no air, our poor grass looks like straw ( we have a hosepipe ban here) and i cant move without breaking into a sweat..... am soo glad i am not hugely pregnant, i feel for all those ladies that are, it must be horrid

well i ave had a noneventful day, felt pretty shit fr most of it so that coupled with the heat i havnt done a great deal, DD has played most of the day and has been a star, mustve known her mum was feeling poo. Anyway off to feed her a yummy mix of sweet potaoe, parsnip and chicken, might even wangel it so that she goes down a bit earlier, then i can completely chill out!

LaidbackinAsia · 17/07/2006 16:44

Welcome Nova ! Thinking of you spook.

Thanks Leogala. Will you give birth in Zurich ? I spoke to a very helpful midwife earlier in UK. She has agreed to see me in September at 14 weeks. She said , all going well, that they will do a dating scan and then I can have my anomaly scan in Sri Lanka at 20 weeks. She also said I may need a test at 28 weeks for gestational diabetes as my last baby was BIG (10lb 4) and apparently there can be a link.

Hope everyone else not puking too much.

wheelybug · 17/07/2006 16:57

Hi Nova and welcome. I must say, I keep getting panicky thinking the gap we should have is a bit small and ours will be 2 years 2 months (or less if I have the same issues as with dd !) so Nova and Jay - I think you're brave. Mind you, it'll be lovely when they are old enough to play together....

I keep meaning to ask Laidback... whereabouts in Sri Lanka are you ? We travelled round a few spots (principally tourist spots though) a few years back and we loved it.

I have just sold a buggy on ebay - It didn't go for as much as I'd hoped so was gettng all grumpy until I found out the buyer lives round the corner from me so means I don't have the hassle of courier-ing it ! Hoorah !!

How's it going spook ?

Piffle · 17/07/2006 17:39

Spook hope the dentist went ok, also that the bleeding has stopped, I'm glad you're been seen quickly (well by nhs standards not yours obviously) to be checked out.
Hi Nova! Congrats on your BFP!

spook · 17/07/2006 18:14

Hi everyone. Thanks for all thinking of me. Still bleeding pretty much constantly but not masses. Just trickle (TMI !!)
DP trying to find locum so he can come with me to scan tomorrow.
Dentist tried to plier out a fucking molar and nerve too infected so it's still in there all ragged. Aaaggghh. Thats certainly taken my mind off my poor baby.
It is v hot here too and I'm in newcvastle so I pity all you girls further south (or in hotter climes!)

wannabump2006 · 17/07/2006 20:04

hi ladies hope you don't mind me joining your thread....I got my bfp yesterday and am due on the 24th of march!!
this will be my third attempt at our first baby as i had a stillborn last may and a missed miscarriage in the september(apparently caused by getting preg too soon after loss)....It really affected me and i had to go on anti d's just before xmas last year.....then weaned myself off,got fit, lost two stone, started to talk about trying again at beginning of june and hey presto here i am preggers again and have got everything crossed that this pregnancy brings us some good news!!
It hasn't taken us any time atall to get pregnant every time!!(fortunatly),so atleast thats one good thing!!....
I have had some brownish/pinkish discharge though on and off since sat, which is hardly anything now...but ofcourse i worry about it,but dh swears i had it before when preg and have read up that is quite normal,so trying to chill out abit!!...(she says when i've already had alittle cry this eve!!..feeling v.v tired and hormonal!!)....def won't be long before bed tonight!!...hope everyone is ok this eve?
Haven't had any morning sickness as such yet....sometimes feel alittle delicate during the day,and had to eat breakfast slowly this morning?,think thats usual??.x.x(getting paranoid even though only v.early days!).x

Piffle · 17/07/2006 20:08

wannabump paranoia perfectly normal, I am still wondering if my bfp is a huge trick...
I hope we all get reassurances very soon!
Show of Hands got a BFP on the Pos July thread too, it's an epidemic!!!!!

novadandypowder · 17/07/2006 20:12

hi wannabump, I've had some spotting too around the time AF was due, and I'm also trying to chill about it. In a way I wish we couldn't find out so soon as it's just longer to worry.

wannabump2006 · 17/07/2006 20:16

I def know what you mean!!...but ladies...we have to chill out ,look after ourselves and be positive!!!.....we can only do so much,so its up to nature now
Piffle: just sent SOH a message on july thread!...its great news isn't it!!and it seems to be catching!!!.x

Jaysecond · 17/07/2006 20:18

hiya wanna, welcome to you. Its great news that you are pregnant again, it must have been a real strain for you and dp, what with everything that has happened, fingers crossed for you this time hun, as piffle says paranoia VERY normal, prob more so in your case, but none the less VERY normal indeed. For some reason i am more paranoid second time round, think its becasue its happened so quick, i keep waiting for something to go wrong!
DH has done sooooo much packing today/tonight its scarey, this morning i had a kitchen, now theres one half of it stacked with boxes still he doesnt want me to do anything bless him.
Feeling a bit stuffed atm, i just was in no mood to cook so we had take out pizza for dinner- and its only a Monday!! and as i havent eaten anything all day due to feeling like poo, i completely guzzled!! oh well never mind wont hurt this once!

Will anyone be finding out what the sex of their baby will be? just a little poll!

wheelybug · 17/07/2006 20:34

Hi Wannabump - congrats... sounds like you've had a hard time of it.

I don't think we'll find out the sex - we didn't with dd as I didn't want to. DH did so I said to him then that we could with a second one but he now says he doesn't want to. We had a fairly difficult second half with dd and often wondered if she'd make it and I think if we'd known her sex it would have made it even harder as we'd have felt even closer to her. Don't know if that makes much sense ! Mind you, we have so much trouble agreeing on names that at least it would save one argument

LaidbackinAsia · 18/07/2006 05:41

Hi all

Welcome Wannabump ! Really hoping things go well for you this time.

Wheelybug - I am about 5 km south of Galle in a rural village called Metaramba. We have a house in Galle fort too that's awaiting renovation . Did you visit there ? Great country, great people. Very very child friendly.

Wishing everyone a good Tuesday and particularly thinking of you Spook xxx

LaidbackinAsia · 18/07/2006 05:47

P.s Jaysecond - Was told my last baby was going to be a girl at 20 week scan- the russian sonographer said " I can see a little burger not a hotdog (nice analogy ) "- bought lots of beautiful things - turned out to be a boy !! Still have all girls stuff incase this one is of the fairer sex (NOT A HOTDOG)
