Evening ladies, I have been lurking just not finding time to post an update!

Firstly good luck to those with impending Labour (umlauf, gt and anything) and those with cs' s coming up.

Well after a speedy Labour, 4 1/2 hours from waters breaking to delivery it's been a strange few days (feels like weeks!) Oh and I think my "swil" update should have been a "lit" as when I checked the time of the post I was just starting to push!

Isaacs body temp dropped about 4 hours after birth. I was told to strip him for skin to skin with a couple of layers and his temp went back to normal but he was still quite grunTy and his breathing was rapid. The midwife tested his oxygen in blood levels which were low and he was transferred to neonatal 6 hours after delivery.

Today we finally have a diagnosis. Isaac has congenital pneumonia. He's already on antibiotics as its policy to start them straight away as they arrive on the unit. He should have them for another 5 days so we're looking at him being out around Tuesday next week.

However, I fed him myself yesterday as his breathing has improved and he latched on like a pro :-) but today they suggested that feeding wasn't the best idea and he's continuing to be tube fed ebm. He's still working hard at breathing so would tire too easily putting him to the breast. My milk has come in today so I'm managing to express a fair amount so he won't have to have any formula top ups as he did yesterday.

I'm halfway through writing my birth story which isn't very long considering I delivered 1 1/4 hours after arriving at the hospital!

Haha, i was in the audience for Trisha flyer - was a crap one though, and i was on camera about 3 times looking dreadful with a very fake interested look on my face.

Homemade chicken and gammon pie here, yum!

Baby has been much quieter the last few days. Im feeling regular movements, just not as big or noticeable as previously. Assuming its because she has run out of space, but may pop in for a monitor tomorrow for peace of mind.

Hope all is going well umlauf.

How is mil clapham? First day of parents visit down, 3 to go! Also had my on call friend round earlier, going on about DS's car seat when i am in labour so she can take him shopping. Have explained if there is time and everything is calm then fine, however it will probably not be my number one priority - not sure she gets it though!

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2013 19:10

So glad to hear from you Hayle and I'm so sorry that little Isaac is so unwell :( Wishing you all the strength and support possible, and I hope you're back together as soon as he's well enough xxx

BowlFullofJelly · 26/09/2013 19:10

Cross post hayle - sounds stressful but like little isaac is doing well. Hope he can get off the tube soon and onto mummies boob - great job on the expressing. All the best to you both xx

MrsHoratioNelson · 26/09/2013 19:17

Well done to be doing so well expressing Hayle. Hope you can get him feeding from you soon.

We're having kedgeree risotto here and I've done lamb rogan josh and tomato sauces for the freezer. Now watching old One Borns. It's very hard not to hold my breath waiting for the babies to cry!

Slippysnow · 26/09/2013 19:24

Sorry to hear isaacs poorly hayle you sound very together and looking after your little boy well, hoping your home soon.

monkeytree yay, I have a due date buddy, sorry you're not sleeping, but i have managed to sleep well throughout. I have a feeling the baby will make up for his angelic tendencies once he's here.

MrsO27 · 26/09/2013 19:24

hayle fingers crossed he's nice and strong for leaving on Tuesday, sounds like he's making good progress. Still can't believe how quick your delivery was!

ananikifo · 26/09/2013 19:28

Aw hayle I'm so sorry that Isaac is so poorly. I hope the antibiotics work and you can take him home soon.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 26/09/2013 19:29

So sorry to hear about baby Issac Hayle. I hope he gets home soon.

Good luck umlauf! Keep us posted.

Haylebop12 · 26/09/2013 19:32

Thank you everyone. Apparently it's fairly common so nothing to stress about just weird not having him at home.

Tbh I think he might get expelled before he's discharged. He's constantly fighting the nurses as they're trying to sort him out! He's a very strong little boy (who weed on me today!)

Flyer747 · 26/09/2013 19:34

Hayle sorry to hear Isaac hasn't been well, I hope he continues to make good progress and you can get him home fit and well asap.

Good news on the milk and expressing front. X

FeministInTraining · 26/09/2013 19:43

Good to hear from you Hayle and sorry to hear Isaac is poorly. Hope he's better soon and it's great that he's getting your milk Flowers

FeministInTraining · 26/09/2013 19:44

Grin at getting expelled. Sounds like a 'shark' I think!

ananikifo · 26/09/2013 20:03

Update from the Nikifo household: DH has informed me we are buying a whole new set of sheets and a duvet cover and new mattress protector "as a backup." Also he has declared we need to buy a pump for emptying the pool.

It's because I told him about people's waters breaking in bed (ie umlauf's funny exorcist story). I can't blame him for the pump thing though as Mw wasn't sure if she could get us one from the hospital and she also said once you're in the pool you don't get out to go to the bathroom. It would end up being DH's job to empty the birthing pool with a bucket if we didn't have a pump.Shock

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 20:11

Shit Hayle sorry to hear that Isaacs unwell but he sounds a lovely little character!

Ip here, 2cm dilated (this us going to be long!) but had epidural and LOVE it so far! although i cried a lot when they sent dh out of the room!!

Umlauf · 26/09/2013 20:13

i forgot to sau thank you clapham for your advice it really helps and helped a lot with the needle. I found quick short breaths to help a lot.

ananikifo · 26/09/2013 20:15

umlauf I'm glad you're coping so well. Why did they send DH away and has he been able to come back?

Natalieand · 26/09/2013 20:25

Things are progressing though umlauf even if it is little by little and baby B is gunna be here for snuggles before u no it :-)

Does anyone else go to bed thinking 'I wonder if Ill wake up in labour tonight?'

Sorry to hear Isaac is poorly hayle hope he's home sooner rather than later xx Flowers

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2013 20:30

Sounds good Umlauf, so are you on the drip?

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2013 20:35

DP is annoyed that I didn't ask enough questions today. Such as why does this scan need to be done at GOSH and not at our normal hospital. He thinks that rather than not being able to see enough, that they definitely saw something they didn't like. We may have had an argument about it. What fun.

Wickedgirl · 26/09/2013 20:37

I hope you have lots of real life support hayle. I hope that Isaac gets well soon and you are both able to go home together soon.

claphammama · 26/09/2013 20:44

good luck umlauf! it may be a long night but you will get there eventually Smile

so sorry to hear about Isaac's pneumonia hayle - Tuesday will be here before you know it. Has Amelia met him already? xx

MIL has been OK bowlfull. I think DP told her to give me a bit more space after the first exhausting day. So she's been ok, I took her shopping and for lunch today and she did all my ironing so not too bad!! I still can't wait to be on my own again though.

And I can't believe all your game show appearances!! Grin Grin Grin flyer I had to tell her you've been on Deal or No Deal - it's the highlight of her day!

We went to John Lewis today and I think I may want their BF chair... it was so comfortable... I sat in it and didn't want to get up. Do you think it's extravagant at 200 quid? I can afford it but it feels a bit extravagant...

MrsO thanks - I will see how it goes but the pains just came and went. I got up after lunch and had to stop for 1 min as felt a few stabbing pains, like something pishing into mg hoo hoo from the inside. I also had it last Sunday - just a few pains and all gone. Has anyone else had something similar?

Pinkforboys · 26/09/2013 20:46

oh pseudo not what you need. Sometimes men really don't help and can dwell on the negative when you need reassurance. We're really lucky that GOSH is so close and has the sophisticated equipment to give you more detail. Quite often things are still developing in the womb even at this stage. Fx for you tomorrow xxx

claphammama · 26/09/2013 20:49

sorry for the typos - was meant to be "pushing into my hoo hoo from the inside"

and nat yes, I'm beginning to wonder every time I go to bed although I'm only 36+2. Following mg weird pains earlier today I've now finished packing my hospital bag and put my notes on top of it. I had a sudden urge to finish packing earlier today. hope it's not a sign...!!

FeministInTraining · 26/09/2013 20:49

That probably wasn't very helpful Pseudo of course it's quite easy to think of lots of questions after the event. Sorry DH wasn't more reassuring, and keeping fingers crossed for tomorrow x
