Jessica that made me giggle, yes dd2 was pretty much a sneeze birth. Felt so much more relaxed second time round as I wasnt fearing the unknown. Being in that state of mind definitely helped things move along naturally and with only gas and air at the last points of pushing. I had DD2 at 8pm so they would not allow me to be discharged until the morning. I will keep you posted re the post natal doula.
What ever you do ladies dont touch that horrid pethidine! I did with dd1 and boy did it disagree with me!
nanny very jealous I've woken with nausea and REALLY ouchy boobs! Didn't suffer like this last two times so please all cross fingers for me to finally be blessed with a son.

lolablu · 26/09/2013 10:02

o i feel like iv joined the club now i was proper sick this morning.. um.. strange thing to feel good about huh?

Hendricks · 26/09/2013 11:07

Having another bleurgh day today and am finding I'm constantly cold, despite several layer and wacking the heating up.

DH ended up "getting caught up with a late running meeting" so I didn't make run club last night. More specifically I fell asleep for 3 hours in the afternoon and thought run club would just finish me off. I suspect one or two may start getting a bit suspicious that something's up. Though I suspect others will be supremely pissed off that I can beat them even when I am pregnant - not that we're a competitive bunch or anything...

6+6

impatientlywaiting · 26/09/2013 11:08

Nanny what date did you tell the doctor/midwife for them to arrange your 12 week scan?

I know someone on this thread, can't remember who now, got an early scan as she was so unsure of her dates.

Cybercat · 26/09/2013 11:30

Hey moomin, I'm so suprised you have to take all that proof of id to register at the doctors. Ive just changed surgeries and it was so simple. I didn't have to provide any of that.

Anyone else looking forward to a huge bump? Im a size 14 normally so I need magic pants if I want to wear a posh dress and I can't wait to let it all hang out with a 'yeah, Im pregnant' attitude! I dont really buy clothes and wear the same old things so Im looking forward to buying a small selection of new maternity stuff - most likely second hand but hey!

wm3010 · 26/09/2013 11:34

Cyber, I'm looking forward to having a bump as just feel bloated and fat at the moment. May well regret saying that later though!

NannyPlumForPM · 26/09/2013 11:46

Yes I'm looking forward to the second trimester most but having a bump at 40 weeks is a real PITA. You think you can't get any sleep now?? HA!!

impatiently I might try and ring up the midwifes at lunch and say that as I'm so unsure maybe I could be given an earlier booking in date? Am currently in for the 17th Oct which seems very far away considering the 12 week scan comes AFTER that...

I can only go by cb digi which said I was 1-2 weeks on 29th August and then was 3+ weeks on 13th Sep.

But that means I was 5+weeks in real life on 13th sep? and therefore around 7 weeks now... Oh bloody heck I have no idea

Oh by the way - I got to work and had my jumper on inside out, so much for the perfect morning!

moomin hope your surviving at the dr's and doing all the jobs you need :)

Less than 3 months till xmas folks!!!

AliOh · 26/09/2013 12:14

Jessica I could sure give it a go at guessing bumps but dont know accurate I would be :) Ive guessed a boy for my friend who is due at the end of Jan, although the last time I saw her she had a tiny 16 week bump so I'll reevaluate when i see her next!

Cyber I'm so excited to get my bump! Will be better than just fat and bloated thats what I feel like at the moment. Cant wait to get lots of party dresses over xmas to show it off too! Oooh exciting :) I'll be due 20 week scan around xmas too - so tempting to find out the gender as an xmas pressie Hmm

McBaby · 26/09/2013 12:31

impatiently I had a early scan as I was unsure of dates as I have not had a period since having my DD last year. So I had no clue how far along I could be.

Mumof2 I also had strep b last so they have said no home birth as I need antibiotics in hospital again. Not sure how this will work as I had a very quick labour last time so doubtful I will get the antibiotics in or even make it to the hospital! They did say they will test again for streb b at 36 weeks but not sure what change this will make as I don't want to put baby at risk or give them the antibiotics if I can have them!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 26/09/2013 12:45

McBaby im worried about the same thing. I dibtvwant baby coming into the workd before a decent dose if antibiotics have gone through us. On dd2 they didnt even bother testing me for strep b they just dosed me up as soon as my waters broke. Luckily my waters seem to break and then contractions start about 2 hours after.

ThePFJ · 26/09/2013 13:30

Jessica After what you went through I am soo glad you are getting a Doula to advocate for you and protect you. That is amazing and I am very happy for you!!! I am having this baby at a different hospital after what happened with the birth of DS. It was a nightmare... (I think they threw my birth plan out the window, set fire to it, jumped up and down on it and then gave me every drug I am allergic to just for for fun while verbally belittling my existence for the whole 26 hours - to put it in a nutshell - it was horrific)
I had an emergency c-section in the end with DS because he wouldn't fully engage and they were losing track of both of us.... heartbeats erratic and me slipping in and out of consciousness.... although the c-section was a wonderful relief - I had nothing left to give......
So we have been debating in this house for the last 3 weeks about whether I should have a c-section again, and just book myself in.... no fuss... and no staying in the hospital too long (Oh yeah the hospital gave my baby MRSA and he nearly died because they refused to help me bath him) ....
But new hospital - new rules...... ?? My friends said I should try it naturally and let the universe decide when baby is born..... DH says booking a c-section would take a load off my mind and that's his opinion.......

Anyone else struggling to decide what they want before they see the MW?????

Hendricks · 26/09/2013 13:31

I hear you on the sleep front nanny I'm trying to make a concious effort to sleep on my back and front whilst I can.

moominleigh94 · 26/09/2013 14:57

Doctors went fine; HCA who did the health check was absolutely lovely, so I'm registered and booking in with the midwife on Tuesday at 10 weeks to the day Grin so excited!

Ran a stall at freshers fair today, got so many freebies from wandering around the hall constantly, I have enough pizza vouchers to last me a lifetime (or maybe a month if I keep feeling like this), ate lots of free pizza, I have so many sweets, a bag full of Wilkos shopping that their representative randomly handed me, posters, leaflets, a glass, little plastic freeby things, pens and a condom! Me and my friend couldn't stop giggling as she handed us these bags with "I

moominleigh94 · 26/09/2013 14:58

I've already told HCA today I'm going for hospital birth... said I'm not sure landlord and housemates would be too happy if I went for a home birth Wink then again, we'll hopefully have moved out before the baby's born.

Still a hospital birth for me though.

BoogiesBunny · 26/09/2013 16:04

Eeeek! I found a 20% off voucher for The White Company on the mumsnet vouchers thread and just bought a hat, cardigan, sleepbag and romper.

Feel a bit sheepish but a bit excited.

ThePFJ · 26/09/2013 16:14

Glad all is well moomin harhar on the bags...
boogies I can NOT wait for my first excuse to baby shop........ anyone who wants to give me one.. please go right ahead Wink

Cupcake1985 · 26/09/2013 16:31

I just told my manager who said she thought i was as i looked a bit tired. Excited for me and at least i can talk about it at work now as im not telling friends and family for a while :)

randdom · 26/09/2013 16:59

My two kittens had the snip today. Very excited as we will soon be letting them out so no more cat litter. This Willard my husband very happy as he has had to be dealing with that since we found out!

NannyPlumForPM · 26/09/2013 17:20

Congratulations randdom I bet they were impressed :)

Just changed my hours so instead of 9:30-3:30 mon-fri I'll be doing 9:30-5pm mon tues and thurs, 9:30-4:30 fri and weds off! Think this'll be better for me :)

OP posts:
hobbjobb · 26/09/2013 17:22

randdom we got two cats a couple of months ago and my DP is not happy having to do the litter! I begged him for us to get them and said I'd feed them, clean the litter and do everything as he doesn't really like animals... Never knowing id fall pregnant so quickly! Oops

It's great to hear all your progress! I'm feeling really sick today, couldn't stop using this morning so took the day off work and have literally slept all day, am now baking a cake to take in tomorrow so hope that means my colleagues will forgive me! hope I feel ok tomorrow
I've told work already as I figured if I needed time off for whatever, or if something went wrong then at least they'd know if I need to take time off.

We're telling DP's parents tomorrow, they are going to be crazy excited as it'll be their first grandchild and they have been begging us to start a family for years

Have a great day fellow preggers!

hobbjobb · 26/09/2013 17:23

Using=puking. I'm not a junkie honest!!!

PixieBumbles · 26/09/2013 17:29

I've been really sick all this week. This morning I ate a packet of those Nutri-Grain breakfast biscuits before getting out of bed and hey presto, no vomming! I have been feeling pretty nauseous today but nowhere near as bad as the past few days and haven't actually been sick at all. I think I have found my personal ms relief! I'll have to keep a stash in my bedside table (and make sure DH doesn't know they're there as he bloody loves the things and would nick them all).

NannyPlumForPM · 26/09/2013 17:30

Aww am jealous hobb, my inlaws definitely won't be excited, they think dd is "quite enough to be coming with" Hmm but my mum and dad were over the moon!! :)
