A new thread for you all to play with?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
impatientlywaiting · 25/09/2013 21:04

Hi and welcome TomKat. Nice to see you in here, I recognise you from the posifrickinivity thread. Good luck for your scan on Saturday. I had one a few days ago and it was amazing.

My eating is out of control. I just ate a full large sized cadbury's with oreo bar. I now feel sick. It's like I just eat whatever I even think I fancy as I'm going to put weight on anyway. Not a good way to be.

Halfbaked · 25/09/2013 21:06

Just checked Lemsip and beechams packets, not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women- bah!! The phenylephrine is in all of the stuff, I think that's the decongestant bit that is best avoided during 1st trimester. Boo!

I had wedges, I'm still hungry. DH has manflu, so no help there and doesn't appreciate the fact he can take Lemsip ggggrrr

Children are allowed in scans here, as DD went to see my SIL twins scan just 3weeks ago. Ignoring the possibility of twins Although talking it over with my mum I don't think we'll take her, just in case. Also I'm not sure she's going to react very positively to having a sibling.

Well it's almost my bedtime, night all!

ThePFJ · 25/09/2013 21:16

Wow Lolli - not good news about the car - hugs and sympathy there honey xxxx

moomin In my extremely sarcastic and slanted view of the world a Doula is a hippy lady who helps you give birth naturally without drugs at home by repeating positive mantra's at you, drumming loudly and generally driving you UP the wall after the first 10 minutes. Posh people and celebrities have them sometimes and some of them are very over priced considering all they do is complain about the lack of seeds to eat in your house.
So don't trust me on this.. why not google it? Hmm

No Lemsip???! Argh.... so time for adding honey to hot tea I think and taking paracetamol alongside eh girls??

So today a friend presented to me her tried and tested theory:

If you crave fruits and sweet things you are expecting a girl.
If you crave carbs - it's a boy.

I am craving both. So my friend said I am annoying.

Anyone else?

moominleigh94 · 25/09/2013 21:18

Google is not my friend. Ever since I searched 'trypophobia' (DON'T SEARCH IT) I avoid it like the plague Sad

Plus it'd probably give me a lovely "doulas are wonderful things and your pregnancy will be terrible if you don't have one" view, rather than the more realistic-sounding one you gave Grin so thanks Grin

I have no seeds in the house, therefore I will not be employing the services of a doula.

Also craving both... twins? Grin Shock

ThePFJ · 25/09/2013 21:26

Noooooo I was also thinking twins or worse.... let's not mention the 'worse' idea.
And Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I just googled trypophobia. Definately DO NOT google this.... ewwww.

The other thing we NEVER googled in my antenatal group 5 years ago was 'prolapse uterus'. Some evil group member mentioned this, and she said to definately not type this in google and click images.... so definately don't do this. I am sure this will never happen to any of us..... Confused (moomin you started this Wink )

So freak out over........ I agree about the Doula. If I have offended anyone on that point - like I said, my view of the world is slanted and dark. xxx

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1862779-Can-I-take-anything-for-a-cold Get well soon all you girls with colds xxxx

McRedHead · 25/09/2013 21:35

PFJ, In my very scientific case study of two people and 3 births, sweet things = girl and carbs = boy was the opposite!

In your case (which is similar to me at the mo, having just finished a pack of hobnobs and moving on to some crisps...) I think it just means your pg!

McRedHead · 25/09/2013 21:36

you're

(I might just end up the size of a house...)

ThePFJ · 25/09/2013 21:43

McREdHead I think you might be right there - and I feel house-sized and bloated already o.O - should be fun in a few months then! Loving the scientific study! Has anyone else got a theory or been told one?

TomKat I just saw your post!! Welcome to the thread and GOOD LUCK on Saturday with your scan...... xxx Love xxx

moominleigh94 · 25/09/2013 21:50

Sorry ThePFJ... got my little brother to google it and he now has it too Grin

bouncysmiley · 25/09/2013 22:01

So I actually threw up for the first time today after weeks of just feeling sick. I thought it might make me feel Beyer. It didn't. Now I feel constantly sick and I sometimes throw up. Great. No sex here either. Too Bligh :[

Tomkat79 · 25/09/2013 22:04

Hi ya, all the girls asking about you pfj over on the other thread....pop over to let them know had a good scan!

I'm either eating for 5 or unable to stomach anything. It's a carb frenzy or stewed apple n raspberry binge.

Am dreading putting on uniform for work tomoro, it's gonna be so snug. Am mega bloated and gassy!

moominleigh94 · 25/09/2013 22:34

Don't think I'll be allowed to register at the doctors tomorrow Sad landlords haven't given us tenancy agreement yet (or if they have, we can't find it), and haven't sent out a new copy, so we have no proof that we live here Sad

And they're not likely to care/understand that with all this palaver, I'll be 12 weeks by the time they even arrange a booking in appointment Hmm I hate moving house [mad] I'm so moody and irritable, got really annoyed at OH this evening and made him feel so bad and I just feel like I can't do anything right.

ThePFJ · 25/09/2013 23:04

Tomkat I have messaged them - thanks xxxxxxxxxx

moomin Don't panic. If you have a wait a wee bit longer for your booking appointment it won't matter in the long run. You are young and healthy, and look at it as the 'late lunch' thing... what I mean is... when I was working, I always tried to get the 1-2 lunch rather than the 12-1 slot... because waiting that extra hour meant that when I got back from lunch the day was almost over! You'll have less of an agonising wait after your appontment for your 12 week scan. Usually we all go a bit nuts waiting for the magic 12 weeks........
Good Luck getting it sorted honey xxxxxxxxxxxxx

moominleigh94 · 25/09/2013 23:19

Thanks ThePFJ I know I need to look at it rationally... it's just so difficult! I never understood how crazy this would make me feel Sad

I'm going to take in a letter, and tell them that I can take the tenancy agreement in on Monday when OH goes to register (they've been funny with appointments and made us all have them on different days), I've got all other ID and the questionnaire and everything. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. Hmm

JessicaRRRabbit · 26/09/2013 06:12

Morning everyone. I need to moan sorry - it's been one of those nights... Couldn't sleep as I was so thirsty - had to get up for three (pint) glasses of water then obvs needed to keep getting up to pee! I'm sooo tired I could cry. Sad Does anyone else get the raging thirst?

Read last night (on a Bounty email I think) that as I'm in the eighth week of pg my womb is already twice its original size! It's not all bloat as I thought then!

Blueberry+5 today

JessicaRRRabbit · 26/09/2013 06:51

Just catching up on thread. For those who are curious about doulas, I'm having one. I really feel like I need an advocate as I was treated very badly during the birth of DS (have flashbacks, need/ed counselling and ADs to deal with it.) Sad

So I'm opting for vbac home birth for baby blueberry as a result and need all the moral support I can get. In the event I have to be blue lighted in (5mins to hospital) my doula will make sure I am treated with care and respect by the people I am now so frightened of. I was completing the paperwork for my doula this week - ended up writing down the whole sorry saga - there were lots of tears that night! She sent me back the loveliest email along the lines of 'We can never predict where your birth will take us but you WILL be heard and I promise to do everything within my power to protect you.'

Her support is so reassuring as her experience of so many births has given her an understanding of my fears and what I need in a way even DH doesn't atm iyswim.

So no lentil weaving over here lol but will do natal hypnotherapy again. Just a different perspective of the brilliant work doulas do. Smile

mumof2aimingfor4 · 26/09/2013 07:16

Oh Jessica your post had tears rolling down my face. So sorry your first birth was so traumatic. Im really glad your going for baby number two and having a doula. Im quiet earth motherly myself and would love to give birth at home but carry strep b (thanks to hospital leaving me with broken waters for too long on DD1) so have to be hooked up to antibiotic drip to avoid baby being passed it when in birthing canal. Ladies please ask for the strep B test, it costs but it is worth it
For the record I found DD2 an easy birth in comparison as I'd done it once before.
Your doula sounds fantastic and will support you in every way thay you need.

AliOh · 26/09/2013 07:49

Morning everyone. ThePFJ I too have been craving savoury then sweet things so I'm doubtful of that boy/girl theory. I've always managed to guess my friends through the way their bump sits - not quite sure if that theory works either, I've always been right but may have just been lucky :)

7+3 today :)

JessicaRRRabbit · 26/09/2013 08:31

Thank you mumof2 fx for a better experience this time around. It's a real shame that you're not eligible for homebirth: does your hospital have cosy rooms? Mine was very cold/sterile looking so I took loads of stuff from home to make the hospital room cosier - so much so that the bedroom at home looked a bit spartan! Blush

AliOh - that's amazing! Pls will you do our bumps for Chrismas if we post pix??

mumof2aimingfor4 · 26/09/2013 08:53

Jessica my second labour was only 1.5 hours, room was typical hospital room but warm and had an en suite. I paid for a private room for after birth so that was nice. Probably not worth me taking homely things if this one is anything like its sister! She was over three weeks early too. I am looking into a post baby doula now due to your recommendation. :)

NannyPlumForPM · 26/09/2013 09:03

Well I have woken up feeling FANTASTIC! There's nothing like a couple of bad weeks to make you appreciate normality. Dd spent all night in her own bed and went to sleep with a 'good night mummy, love you' rather than screaming at 8pm and woke up at 8am!!!!!! BLISS

Dp didn't snore ALL NIGHT

My toast has not only been kept down but tasted WONDERFUL and the bus turned up on time!

I feel like singing that Oliver song... "whoooo will buy this wonderful moooorning"

Hope the day is as good for everyone else :)

Oh wow mumof2 - you done a sneeze birth?! How quickly did they discharge you afterwards? I've not really looked into post natal doulas but I can imagine it'd be lovely to have one for those first babymoon weeks - especially as you'll want your older DC to have lots of fuss and attention too. Happy hunting and pls update - I'm tempted now too! Grin

Spirael · 26/09/2013 09:15

I craved sweet & stodge last time around and had a girl. Seem to be craving stodge again this time around! Porridge for breakfast, mmm... Not particularly after the sweet things, however.

My first birth was only 5 hours from start to finish. The MW's only just arrived in time and were still busy getting the bags in from the car when I was all finished having DD in the water pool we hired! I caught her myself, as DH was busy helping the MW's.

It was lovely to then be snuggled up into my own bed while the MWs and DH cleared up. Then we ordered some takeaway for dinner and a food shop of yummy things (BRIE!) for the following day. MW's popped in and out over the next few days to check up us. :)

I actually feel better today than I have for the past week. So much that I took a cheapy test this morning just to reassure myself. Figured I may as well use them, instead of just throwing them away!

The dark line appeared nice and quick, so looks like all is ok. I think maybe I just feel so much better as I'm finally getting over the cold and was able to breathe through my nose last night, so got a good night of sleep!

wm3010 · 26/09/2013 09:15

Nanny, I'm so jealous! My trip into work involved buying industrial sized pack of Rennies so I guess that give you a clue how I'm feeling today! Still, 8 weeks today which is lovely.
