Lol chip I wouldn't know. DP cleaned it Smile

truffkin congratulations!

Agree with everyone time is slow. I've known for 4 weeks. The hard years of TTC and treatment seem far far away. Feels like I've been PG forever. Yet only 7+6 and 24h (&20 min) to scan.
Still not telling though.

snoozysleeper · 16/09/2013 13:56

truffkin wonderful news Grin

snoozysleeper · 16/09/2013 14:05

I had my gp appt last week and they sent a referral off to the midwives, I need to wait for a phonecall for my booking-in appt. I haven't heard anything yet though! Confused

How long did it take for midwives to call you after referral sent? Mine was sent on Friday.

ItalianWiking84 · 16/09/2013 14:14

Hi all,

I need a bit of help. I am located in Scotland, anybody who knows how it works uphere? I am from Denmark and I still dont understand the Scottish accent fully :)
I called my doctor today and was asked to come down and do a urin test, did that and they will then send it in and I should call for answer mid week. But I dont know, what then happens? Because I really didnt understand the receptionist that well, do I then called in for a doc app or wait for midwife?

JessicaRRRabbit · 16/09/2013 14:29

Lovely scan story truffkin Grin

Met my doula to be today - she is lovely! - and self referred for booking in appt on 1st Oct - very excited! Smile

JessicaRRRabbit · 16/09/2013 14:33

Wiking I'm not in Scotland but I should think that you'll be contacted to arrange a booking in appointment with a midwife once your urine test confirms your BFP. Smile

JessicaRRRabbit · 16/09/2013 14:35

Sorry - you ring for the results mid-week, at which point you'd arrange the booking in appt Blush

moominleigh94 · 16/09/2013 14:39

snoozy, mine was sent a week and a half ago and I had a text about it on Saturday :)

ItalianWiking84 · 16/09/2013 14:50

JessicaRRRabbit thanks for the help, so the booking in appt is at the doctor? Sorry to sound so stupid, but its a bit different in DK...

thistlelicker · 16/09/2013 14:57

H everyone!!!! I went to EPA and they think its growing pains!!! They did internal and she said it all looks good I even have mucous in cervix already!!!!

Can I ask even tho I have seen midwife unofficial lay, do I need to see gp to arrange booking?

Hendricks · 16/09/2013 15:03

I dunno, I leave a thread for a couple of days and you've filled it up and started a shiny new one Grin Hope everyone's doing okay and any symptoms are helping with "I'm pregnant" feelings, rather than "bleurgh, I feel ropey as anything"

italian I'm up in Scotland, west of Glasgow. My GP surgery has community midwives that hold appointments there once a week. This time I just rang the surgery and asked for a booking in appointment with the MW (so I can get on the system - from memory the proper booking in is done at the same time and place as the 12 week scan) so bypassed the GP altogether. I can't remember what happened with my first. I know I saw the GP, but I can't remember if he then booked the first MW appointment for me or if I had to book it myself. Could it be worth phoning/ going in to check? Sorry that's not too much help is it.

I'm feeling a bit bloated and a bit off my food. DH has decided that he's having a sympathy pregnancy - bloated and off his food too. Going out for a run tonight which in the rain and wind I'm not fancying too much, but I need to make sure I keep exercising and try and get some miles in to see whether the 10k in October is going to be a go-er or not.

5+3

Chip86 · 16/09/2013 15:05

Dont worry to much italian i dont understand some scottish accents eather hehehe
Yes ring doctors for your urin test resalts then they will tell you what to do, if not once you get your results and they dont tell you what to do then book another GP appointment and they will tell you what to do then

Once i have scan at 7 weeks i then have to go to my GP then she will right to midwifes then i think they will right to me thats how it works in london anyway
All the best Smile

JessicaRRRabbit · 16/09/2013 15:05

Not at all Wiking Smile the system's a lot to get used to without having moved countries! The booking in appt is with a midwife. There is a really good description of what to expect on the Baby Centre website - hope this helps x

Hendricks · 16/09/2013 15:06

I've just done the Chinese gender predictor thing. According to that my daughter should have been a son and my son should have been a daughter. So a 100% failure rate - which is consistent at any rate!

CoffeeGuzzler · 16/09/2013 15:19

Viking I went to university in Edinburgh after having lived in London my entire life. Had such a hard time understanding people the first year or so. You'll get used it...don't worry Grin. I agree that the babycentre website has so much good info, including a week by week 'what's happening in your body' series. Quite fascinating really.

About the Chinese gender hing...it says that the predictions have a 50% chance of being true. Hhaha.

CoffeeGuzzler · 16/09/2013 15:23

Can someone please explain to me the rockery joke? Blush

RosesInTheRain · 16/09/2013 15:54

yes, I seem to have missed that too!

Marking place on the shiny new thread anyway, still bleurgh and a crazy almost 3yo to look after Confused.

7+2 I think...

ItalianWiking84 · 16/09/2013 16:08

Thank you all for the infomation, makes me a bit less insecure... I will call doc Wednesday for the result and if they don't offer me an app I will just ask for one and then I can always ask the doc what happens now... They luckily know I am not from here, so hopefully they won't find me to stupid.. Can't even ask my bf, because he's Indonesian, so we are both lost in Scotland
Thanks for the link too, I will defn check it out...

snoozysleeper · 16/09/2013 16:15

Thank you moomin

snoozysleeper · 16/09/2013 16:15

Isean · 16/09/2013 16:18

coffee I'm glad you asked that as I was thinking I must be a bit slow!Blush

Just back from my first appointment with the midwife. She just asked me a few questions, filled some things in on my maternity notes, took my weight and blood pressure, checked I was taking folic acid and vit D, gave me a big book from NHS Scotland called "Ready Steady Baby" and a few leaflets. I've got a longer appointment with her in 2 weeks where she goes over all the things I have to fill in on the maternity notes, she will take blood and urine samples, etc.

8+0 today, so she put my EDD down as 28/04/2014 but if it's ok with you lovely people I'd like to stay with the May-bies? Smile

Cybercat · 16/09/2013 16:26

Congratulations on both your Phd & BFP Princess!

I self referred to midwife today and she is coming out to see me at home on 11th October which seems like ages away. I guess no early scan for me then! She was really nice on the phone though, very chatty but she did mention that due to previous surgery (ovary & cyst/tumour removal) that I'm likely to need consultant led care.

Have lots of wind today, very bloated again & more twinges but I'm taking it all to be good signs.

I'm miles away from you Scottish ladies in West Wales in fact I did read that one of you is from Pembs - sorry I forgot who you are. I'm in neighbouring Carmarthenshire!

JessicaRRRabbit · 16/09/2013 16:30

Excellent news thistle - sounds like things are going really well Smile

Yy stay with us Isean - we do Cake and everything Grin

loopylou52 · 16/09/2013 16:41

Aw, congrats on the scan truffkin! Sounds so lovely and is making me wish mine was sooner! Great news also thistle.

It's so weird how the systems are so different everywhere. I had to have an appointment with my GP (receptionist told me to bring a sample but GP didn't want it) then GP gave me a bit of paper to take to reception to make my booking appointment with the midwife, which will be at the doctor's surgery. I think the midwife will then send of a request for a scan appointment. Why can't they just have the same process everywhere and it just say on the NHS website what you need to do?!

AliOh · 16/09/2013 16:59

Cybercat thats me! I'm from Pembs :) I have self referred to the midwife over 10 days ago still not heard anything ... getting very impatient now!!!!
