To be fair, Book, our local council has only just started any sort of rubbish recycling scheme. I think it's fair to say it'll be a while before they start a nappy library!

BookTart · 01/10/2013 17:52

True toby - we're doomed! Disposables have to go in the big black bin and wait 2 weeks to be collected as well. GRIM.
I've heard good things about the Little lambs launya. I really want to get Bumgenius, purely because they have such an ace name, but when I saw some in a shop at the weekend the outside felt all synthetic and horrible so I will rethink. Probably buying them just because the name makes me laugh isn't good enough anyway!

TobyLerone · 01/10/2013 17:53

So if I get to the NCT sale on Saturday and there are no reuseable nappies left, I'll know who to blame, Book :o

Frizz1986 · 01/10/2013 17:56

So i get home from work to do a quick catch up and holy shit space
Huge huge congrats on the first arrival and what an awesome weight.
So thankful that u have posted too so we can hear your news and experience.
Got all fingers and toes crossed that he progresses quickly in neonatal. How nice that he has a Seaview.

Have no idea what anyone else put as I am still a bit gobsmacked and have no idea how space managed so calmly. If my bubs pops soon I am in no way prepared.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/10/2013 18:01

Ta, toby. Will hie me to a Sainsbos.

frizz I know - it's pretty awesome/scary/totally unexpected, right? I was the same when I read it. Space seems fantastically chilled though, and is okay, so that's the main thing.

BookTart · 01/10/2013 18:07

toby I'm too scared to buy nappies at the NCT sale, they will be able to tell that I am an uninformed fraud :)

Angelesque · 01/10/2013 18:07

Congratulations space - a good weight for such an early boy! You are being so calm about the whole thing - I'm v impressed! Hope little one is getting on well in neonates x

MrsGSR · 01/10/2013 18:08

I'd like to use reusables but I'm very confused by all the choices! Plus a little bit put off by the thought of carrying dirty nappies round. Our council stopped doing the grants last year :(

TobyLerone · 01/10/2013 18:11

:o Book! That is a very good point.

MrsVDB · 01/10/2013 18:24

toby I couldn't find any maternity tights in the sainsburys near me (huge 1). Do you remember what the packaging looks like? £5 is far more reasonable!

Spacefrog35 · 01/10/2013 18:30

Thanks ladies (again). Can't remember who it was the posted his dates but yes, he's 24+2. Just been up to see him for the first time since they got him settled into the neonatal unit & were able to put hands in incubator for a little cuddle Grin

He's doing amazingly well. We're not daft, we are going to have good days and bad days but each step at a time & so far I couldn't ask him to do anymore than he is.

Oh & his name is Idris. Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 01/10/2013 18:34

I've not seen any reusable nappies at our local
NCT sales. I wonder if people are selling them online instead so it might not all be book's fault Grin.

I keep losing on ebay when trying to buy a double pushchair. Getting cross now. Really want a bargain but maybe just need to get real.

TarkaTheOtter · 01/10/2013 18:35

That's great news space and love the name. PLEASE keep updating us if you have the chance (and want to)!

MrsVDB · 01/10/2013 18:37

Thanks for the update space it's good to hear he's doing so well and that's a lovely unusual name :)

Mac2014 · 01/10/2013 18:38

space I love the name Idris, means warrior, so apt!!! Massive congratulations and the biggest of hugs. I'm in shock so can't imagine how you are.

The only other thing I remember is tights...
Boots tights are fab if a bit thick and shiny, fit me well. I'm a 12 and wearing the medium/large I think!
Never buy Seraphine - leggings amazing but tights are rubbish.

Still can't get over Idris being here already!!!

AnotherStitchInTime · 01/10/2013 18:45

A lovely strong name for your little fighter space, glad you got to see him.

Tarka the trick is to put in your maximum bid and confirm it at around 5 seconds, that way no one has a chance to up their bid in the final seconds. Keeps the price down too. I got my Britax B-Dual on there for £100 :)

TarkaTheOtter · 01/10/2013 18:53

another I keep trying that trick but I think people are using some sort of program that bids in the last second. I think the main problem is that there aren't many coming up in my local area so I'm going to have to pay more than I think I should.

Frizz1986 · 01/10/2013 19:00

Quick pee question. Getting a damp patch in my pants getting slightly bigger all day. Not enough to require a change but......
There is a slight sweet smell there but (tmi) my discharge mixed with sweat has always had a bit if a sweet smell "down there"
I dont feel any gushing or anything when i stand and dont want to be a nag if it is just pee lol.
Is it worth calling MW tomorrow to ask and see if i shoukd get it checked?Would a small leak be a big deal anyway? Or does ot replace itself?
At no other time would i be hoping that i am peeing myself lol.

Idris is such a fantastic name space, congratulations again and do let us know how he is getting on if you have time :)
Could you install a sniper programme tarka? Y'know, for the baby's sake Wink

enjoyingscience · 01/10/2013 19:06

Mmm, posted on phone and it disappeared.

Fab name space, really lovely. Glad he's doing so well today, and that you had a little hold through the incubator. He does sound like a little warrior :)

I really like the sainsburys tights, they come right up to my bra (I like being cosy!)

TarkaTheOtter · 01/10/2013 19:10

Is that what it is called book? hmmm....

Frizz1986 · 01/10/2013 19:27

Wow space idris is a stunning name.

OP posts:
Toothfairy78 · 01/10/2013 19:34

Wow! Congrats space! And what a lovely name, Idris! Eep!

Erm, can't remember any of what anyone else as said.

Someone said something about nappies? I got so overwhelmed by the choice I decided on terry squares, nappy nippas and some plain white PUL wraps from Real Nappies:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003FPQK3I/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They were £24 for 6 and I figured terry squares wouldn't need to change with baby size. And it wouldn't be a big deal to spend £25 every few months to upgrade sizes.

Wow! The first baby has arrived!

Toothfairy78 · 01/10/2013 19:38

Oh and guys, were nearly at 1000 posts...

Sultanajo · 01/10/2013 19:51

The teletubbies onesie just cracked me up! Hilarious!

Space OMG! That must have been such an amazing moment actually being able to put your hands in for a little cuddle! What a cool name! What a surreal 24 hours for you!
