Hello everyone, is there room for one more?

I think I'll be a Martian, my dating scan is on Monday but think I'm due 30 March. First DC, but following 2 miscarriages and an ectopic so still cautiously optimistic despite early scans at 5, 7 and 9 weeks.

Excited but worried about Monday! Oh, and the Martian twins aren't here.

Prambo · 12/09/2013 19:55

Oh, Happy, what an insufferable time you've had. I wish you much joy and peace throughout this pregnancy Thanks

LyraSilvertongue · 12/09/2013 20:06

Welcome Happy and Panto Smile

What does everyone feel about people touching your bump? I was talking to a friend today about how big I've got and she was absent-mindedly stroking my bump while we talked. I don't mind at all but I know some people do and I always ask if I want to touch someone's bump. Hands seem to be magnetically drawn to them!

Rockchick1984 · 12/09/2013 20:09

Lyra I don't mind friends and family, but would freak out if a stranger touched my bump!! and would probably stroke their belly to see how they liked it

I've got the worst cold sore in the world EVER and the pharmacist won't give me anything for it, got to try and get a stupid dr's appointment tomorrow Angry

sunshinemeg · 12/09/2013 20:11

Pram, I asked DH to tell me if I became irrational at all - BiPolar, but thankfully not much to report. I think being a teacher and having the summer holidays significantly helped, I'm starting to feel stressed now and worried I could become down again, but just take each day as it comes, and use the positives of pregnancy steps to bouy me up when needed. I have learnt to be very open with my condition so that others support me as well. It's nothing to hide as its a medical condition same as any other.
A huge step is being aware of your moods, so you saying you are taking a step back shows you recognise it which is great!! But not necessary if its due to me as I really hold no grudge!!! Xx

rescoonetwothree · 12/09/2013 20:14

fox lucky!

maybe what i'd give for that! usually when we're back home we go to a garage my family have been using probably since b.c. i love them!

welcome newbies! as lib said just jump in as and when you want to/can! disappointed at the lack of twins. COME ON MARTIANS.

saggy enjoying the increased posting, welcome back!

lyra i don't think i'd mind that much, i don't know if that is no-personal-space mediterranean blood though as i have quite a few of the obnoxious stereotypical traits that comes with that haha.

Happyhoppy · 12/09/2013 20:16

Thanks Pram! Hello Lyra!

IceNoSlice · 12/09/2013 20:18

Evening all. Only over 100 messages in a day! Shock

Great need on today's scanees.

Prambo don't go, but don't turn too nice, it wouldn't be the same! You're the straight talking, no nonsense one. Don't you dare utter a 'hun' or there'll be trouble

Very disappointed in most of the maternity clothes I ordered online. As predicted, almost all have been sent back. I did keep the maternity boots though Wink

Oh and I hate people touching me. I'm not a hugger. No-one has touched my bump except DH, DS and medical professionals. And that's the way it will stay. I have a good 'keep your distance' glare.

BakingEating · 12/09/2013 20:37

Bleurgh, bump stroking is just wrong, that's my cake-filled belly they're rubbing. Maybe it'll be different when the baby is bigger than the cake belly Grin

Telling the in laws went well, FiL shouted 'oh f#ck' then sat down with a bump and started laughing.

PiratesMam · 12/09/2013 20:42

Oh my god, I'm not even going to attempt to catch up with every single post, we must be breaking records with our threads!

I'm not a touchy feely person either, I hate people I know touching me let alone strangers! I don't mind my kids hugging me. And occasionally my husband. My mum is not touchy feely at all either.

Dudes, I cannot stop eating. I think I've put on a stone already. I started at a lovely eight stone, I think I'm approaching nine already! Shock DH found all the yumyums I bought yesterday and he laughed at me. Today they are all gone. Blush

All the new people - hello! It's so lovely to have new birds on the thread, especially after our numbers so sadly dwindled earlier on in the thread. Welcome all.

I've started feeling definite flutters the last day or so. 15 weeks today.

FrankelInFoal · 12/09/2013 20:46

Sorry for nit catching up first, but Holy crap - next week's Monday Webchat is with Mary Berry herself Shock

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/09/2013 20:48

Welcome happy and Panto!

I thought id be very anti bump rubbing as I am normally so paranoid about my tummy being touched. I can't even touch it. But Im getting used to it now Smile

rescoonetwothree · 12/09/2013 20:52

maybe are you not on the fb?! or am I being stupid?

also new martians we have a facebook if you'd like to join and share pics etc - just message me your link and ill add you to it! Smile

Happyhoppy · 12/09/2013 20:55

I'm shocked that people are already wanting to touch some of your tummies - have you got visible bumps yet? I'm going to hate that!

Beccadugs · 12/09/2013 20:58

I am jealous of people with bumps, I just look like a whale. A waist less whale.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/09/2013 21:12

Yup, you're going mad Grey Wink I'm on there!!

I have a slight bump, made more noticeable by my weight loss. And you're not a whale Becca!

justmuddlingthroughit · 12/09/2013 21:13

I would hate for people to assume it's ok to touch my bump. If a stranger did it I'd make very clear it's unacceptable; after all, it's still me, and I wouldn't be happy with them putting their hand on my belly at any other time! Family and friends, fine if they ask first, but again I'm uncomfortable with assuming they can pat me.

Maybe I'm just horribly repressed, but regardless of there being a baby it's still me they're touching without asking. Urgh.

Welcome all newbies, lovely to have some new names around. Don't try to keep up with all posts, just jump in when you can!

justmuddlingthroughit · 12/09/2013 21:16

Btw, I don't think greymoose mentioned that the Facebook group is a secret one, so if any newbies want to join who haven't made their news public yet it won't show up on your page and let the cat out of the bag Smile

Beccadugs · 12/09/2013 21:26

Ah thanks maybe

PainAuxRaisins · 12/09/2013 21:43

Flashback to pregnancy with DD2 and a (male) family friend stroked my 'bump' when I was about 13 weeks and we'd only just gone public. Yuuuukkk!!! There was no bump - it was just belly. He might as well have put his hand on my fanny (...well he was only a couple of inches above my bikini line) and it felt veeerryy inappropriate. I don't mind a bit of bump touching much later from about 7 months onwards.

IceNoSlice · 12/09/2013 21:44

DISASTER!! The kettle has broken. Oh no! I'm NOT going to be happy if I can't have tea in the morning (even if it is only decaf nowadays).

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/09/2013 21:45

Oh Raisins you should've grabbed his crotch Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/09/2013 21:46

Shit Ice. Have you got a hob? When needs must and all that.

Am I the only one drinking normal tea? I've now found j can stomach it again!

IceNoSlice · 12/09/2013 21:50

Maybs I drink lots of tea. Usually decaf at home though so I can have half decent tasting stuff at work. Yes, I will send DH down to boil water on the hob in the morning. Tis his job.

PainAuxRaisins · 12/09/2013 21:52

If he does it again this time I will follow your advice maybe. Fortunately his wife has recently had their first baby so maybe he now realises his faux pas. He's not a perv - I think he just genuinely didn't have a clue how inappropriate his touching was.
