Mrs Blobby - Sorry to hear about the urine infection, i hope it clears up soon.

Dogmum - I am still going to the midwife every 4 weeks too, with my next at 30 wks. I haven't been measured either, although they always say I look big for dates. I reckon it's just coz I'm a shorty at 5ft!

Justers · 24/07/2006 22:17

Hi there. Mrs Blobby, i had amoxycillin for urine infection at about 11 weeks, think they are quite safe. Had to stay off work today as i'm getting lots of dizzy spells and feeling generally crappy!! Dogmum, my appointments are also 4 weekly at the moment and i got my anti-d injection on friday at 28 weeks.

Gingeme · 24/07/2006 22:18

No sorry Mrs Bloby I dont recall what they were called but I only had to take them for a week.

whiffy · 25/07/2006 08:53

Blobby - I had to have Amoxycillin with both my eye ulcer at 3mths and my laryngitis about 6 weeks ago. The doctors were very clued up on what antibiotics are OK.

On the Zantac side Luboo, my dr didn't say why not to take it, just that I should only use Gaviscon, so no idea - am sure your m/w wouldn;t recommend though unless it was safe. Advice varies from person to person I think - I wasn't even allowed Gaviscon when I was in Spain!

I reckon at this stage in PG we are fairly safe anyway...esp. when you think that if we were in hospital for an op or anything we'd get drugged to the eyeballs with shedloads of stuff.

Am most amused at people complaining of Pregnancy Brain lately. The description seems to imply that some people here anticipate normal functonality will resume when condition of pregnancy goes away. Those of us on the thread who are already mums will sadly confirm that no such recovery should be anticipated for many many years. Burnt bread? Try my last attempt at Trivial Pursuit when I theorised that wasn't it amazing that Picasso was the forefather of cubist art considering I hadn't even realised he came from Cuba.....

wuzzlefraggle · 25/07/2006 09:07

hi every1! hope that you all had a nice weekend.

mrs blobby, sorry to hear about the water infection...as one of the other girls said tho, its good that they have caught it early on..should be easier to get rid of

dogmum, im seeing my midwife every 4 weeks and im sure that i heard something about it being every 4 weeks untill you are 32/34 weeks where it goes down to once a fortnight, then once a week for the last month (dont quote me tho) i had my first appointment last monday, and my next is for the 7th august

BENDYB · 25/07/2006 09:24

hi every1! I'm new on here so just wanted to say hello!
I'm due on 30th oct, this is my 1st baby & I dont really know what to expect so it'll be nice to talk to you all!! x

wuzzlefraggle · 25/07/2006 09:40

welcome to the thread bendyb!! are you having a pink one or a blue one?? (love the name btw!!)

BENDYB · 25/07/2006 10:00

Hee hee! Thanks wuzzlefraggle, I am havin a blue 1!

wuzzlefraggle · 25/07/2006 10:11

cool! and congrats! were you trying for a baby for long?? how have you found pregnancy so far?

mamado · 25/07/2006 10:29

I agree Whiffy, it seems like brain function is forever impaired by having children [except for useful things like remembering the words of hundreds of nursery rhymes!]. I did read an article a few months ago that suggested that us pregnant ladies actually had an increased power for learning new things. Although I'm not sure if they can have actually spoken to any pregnant ladies in the process of the research! They certainly didn't ask me!

Is anyone else feeling quite tearful at the moment? Seems like anything can set me off at the moment and since people can be nasty to me in my job I'm not sure how I'll get through the next few days at work. Rescue remedy seems to do something, but does anyone have any advice on how to cope with people not being nice??

Mre Blobby - glad the wet sheet tip was useful - I've evn had to resort to it in this extreme heat - I think its the only thing that stopped me melting last friday night! For the baby hammock, I think the brand is Ambi baby. I'm also very tempted. They are not cheap and apparently take up a fair bit of space but anything that encourages sleep can only be a good thing..

As for licorice i've never heard of it bringing on early labour [even from my Finnish friend] but it might be worth stocking up with loads for after the birth to cope with inevitable, awful constipation....

BENDYB · 25/07/2006 10:52

wuzzlefraggle- thanks! I got pregnant as soon as i came off the pill! Woz v. shocked it happened so quickly!! Wot bout u? Everything goin good so far, finding this heat horrible though! As i see every1 else is 2! Hee. Is this your 1st pregnancy 2? x

Gingeme · 25/07/2006 12:33

Welcome Bendy b. No Im araid pregnancy brain doesnt return to normal after birth. In fact I think it gets worse each child you have. I went to Toys R Us on Saturday to buy a birthday presant for my nephew and they had Nintendo Ds in there with that brain training game on it. Aparantly the highest score is a 20 year old brain I have a 40 year old brain Im only 35!
Been having a rough couple of days withmy 2 year old ds. Hes got tonsilitis and was given penicilin for it. My other ds had it from when he was 5 so I was well suprised when my gp told me what it was. Hes realy quite poorly bless him. Slept most of yesterday and didnt eat at all. Still once his medicine kicks in he should be back to his little self soon.
Im having a blue one too Bendy and Im due 31st Oct. Wonder which one of us will be on the birth announcement thread first? Have you thought of any names yet? Were still stuck.....

oops!

Seona1973 · 25/07/2006 13:39

welcome BendyB - I'm having a blue one too!! My first was a girl so one of each will be nice. I dont know if I just have less patience or its the heat but she is driving me nuts just now - her favourite word is WHY? which is bloody annoying.

Have been to the hairdressers today and had my hair cut and coloured so I have finally got rid of the roots and white hairs again. It has been 16 weeks since my last haircut which is quite bad really - £45 well spent!!

My mum came and babysat dd - they watched bits of a dvd (dd cant sit long enough to watch more than a few minutes at a time) and dd 'helped' gran to hang out some washing as its another beautiful day here although still a bit hot for me I'm afraid!!

Hope everyone is well today - p.s. I officially start my maternity leave this week so I have reached 29 weeks - only 11 to go

squishy · 25/07/2006 13:41

Wow, this heat really is frying my brain. I'd also read about Mothers' increased ability to learn once they'd given birth; am another one hoping to get back my pre-pregnancy brain ASAP!

Mamado, sorry to hear people are being nasty to you at work. I seem to have got a real "taking no shit" attitude since being pregnant (apart from the days I just want to cry!) and some sort of chip in me has switched to not taking stuff personally - easier said than done, I know, but really seems to help....

Gingeme · 25/07/2006 13:42

Hi BENDY B . We liked Harvey for a while but then watched a film called'Harvey the Giant Invisible Rabbit'. We had a girls name ready because we thought ds3 was gonna be a girl. Were down to 3 favourites which are Elliot,Ethan and Edward. Been through so many lists and baby name web sites and books. Could go on forever couldnt you realy? he he Think it all depends if your doing second names and stuff too. What it will be shortened too or lengthened to ect ect. We have a Keith, Connor and David and my dh's sons are called Daryl and Adrian. A bit of a choice there for you too.

catgirl · 25/07/2006 13:53

Afternoon - just made the mistake of stepping outside for some fresh air - I thinking I am melting now and that fresh air is over-rated!

Whiffy- welcome back - how is the new nanny?

Mrs Blobby - sorry to hear about your infectin - hope the anti-b's kick in quickly.

BendyB - welcome - I am due on 31 Oct too - have a feeling I'll be early, but that just means I will be late I guess!

In 24 hours have broked two of my golden rules: don't go anywhere for Xmas and don't travel over a bank holiday: thinking about going up to in-laws for Xmas (DH's gran is 89 and probably won't travel down to us again), and probably having baby christened in my home town over easter.... can't believe we were sweltering in bed last night discussing xmas! madness! This is a result of pg brain I reckon! The thought of travelling with a newborn is much less scary second time round!
Have 26 week midwife appt on Thursday.

BENDYB · 25/07/2006 13:55

Hmmm, kinda gone off harvey a bit now!!! We also like Harley. I love Elliot, thats my nephews name though so cant really have that! Hee Hee! Yeah so many names to choose from!

Hello seona1973! Yay another blue 1!!!!

BENDYB · 25/07/2006 13:57

hello 2 catgirl aswell!!!!

catgirl · 25/07/2006 14:10

I love the film 'Harvey' - good name too!

pg brain moment - did we decide if 26 weeks is third timester? Hope so as that is me today!

catgirl · 25/07/2006 14:27

by the way, Swizzler, thanks to your 'we are amazing and beautiful' comments, I got in the lift yesterday with someone I know, who said 'my god you are HUGE' - to which I grinned and said 'yes, isn't it great'! and I actually meant it too! so thanks for your reminder that we are amazing!

This must be a record posting for me - must get on with some work now....

wuzzlefraggle · 25/07/2006 14:40
