Stom91 · 04/09/2013 15:57

haha me neither lol

itsliz · 04/09/2013 16:12

Oh I'm so glad everything's ok Daley! Huge sight of relief Smile

I'm afraid I may have to join in with having a moan today...
My contract ended last week so I put in a claim for Jobseeker's Allowance and went for an interview this morning. Rushed into town for my 9.50am appointment, only to get there and find they don't open until 10am! Eventually went in and was told there's not much chance of me getting any benefits since I haven't contributed enough to National Insurance, what with being a student until June last year.

Went to the CAB afterwards to see if they could help me to sort out any other benefits, and basically just ended up being given a pile of leaflets to read and websites to look up.

So long story short, I'm 23 weeks pregnant with no job, no chance of getting a job due to lack of experience and being pregnant, no chance of claiming any benefits, a credit card bill that I can't pay off, an overdraft that is now accumulating nearly £200 of interest a month, not to mention rent and other bills to pay (and the urge to go out and buy loads of pretty baby things!) And poor DP doesn't earn enough to support the two of us, let alone three...

On top of all of this, the ancient crappy computer I'm having to use at the moment has crashed three times on me today and I managed to break the printer this morning. Ended up in tears on the phone to DP who has taken the afternoon off of work to help me sort out this whole sorry mess.

Anyway, rant over! Time for a cuppa I think...

CryingGivesMeAHeadache · 04/09/2013 16:19

Oh itsliz welcome to my world. It is hard enough being pregnant without all the added stress of not being able to get a job or benefits. The only benefits we get is a measly £33 a week towards rent and a whopping £1.53 off our council tax a month. The benefits system is all wrong. If it is going on NI contributions then surely the vast majority of people claiming job seekers shouldn't get any benefit at all? I better not start on this rant again, I've only just calmed down about my own situation.

I just had a call from one housemate who said that the letting agency are showing a girl the room this afternoon. If everyone could keep everything crossed for me I would be eternally grateful.

I've got a job interview tomorrow that I don't know if I want to go to. It's a call centre job and i'm petrified of talking on the phone. I don't even talk to DP on the phone unless I absolutely have to. I just don't know if going to the hassle of finding something suitable to wear that fits and walking to town is worth it.

Stom91 · 04/09/2013 16:20

Oh itsliz I'm sorry to hear that.
I hope you can get something sorted.

The benefit system is crap. There so many people that are getting loads abd don't need them and there people like us that could really use the help...
Read the link it'll cheer you up :)

PistachioTruffle · 04/09/2013 17:12

Crying, fingers crossed the girl wants the room! Sorry you're still having so much stress Sad I hate talking on the phone too, though oddly I'm ok with it in a work environment. At home I'd rather text everyone even if it takes 3 x longer to explain!

Itsliz I'm sorry about your work situation too, it truly is a rubbish system if you fall through the gaps Flowers

Stom, I read that the other day! Bless her, it was so funny the way she wrote it but that poor lady, it's like my worst nightmare come true!

Daley, BabyDaley is so CUTE! I'm going for a 3D scan in the next couple of weeks, I was given it as a gift but wasn't sure how I felt about it....I almost feel like its naughty peeking at presents early....but seeing yours I'm getting quite excited!

Sorry if I missed anyone, and welcome to Deya, this thread has zoomed today!

NomDeClavier · 04/09/2013 17:39

RF is rear facing. ERF rextended rear facing. FF forward facing.

I spend a lot of time using these kind of acrronyms in work notes and memos and forget people don't always use the same!

Fingers crossed for the room, crying.

Deya · 04/09/2013 19:35

Thanks for the welcome and have added myself to the stats thread now.
One day at work and now here's lots to catch up with!

Like pregnancy difficulties wouldn't be enough, some of you are having it really tough on other fronts too..

Loving the 3D pictures Daley! I have some pictures from few weeks ago - it wasn't really a 3D scan, just had a chance for a little "preview" :)
He looked like a Gollum! Grin

Deya · 04/09/2013 19:39

I think I'm off to watch the latest episode of the Midwifes on BBC, since you're telling me it's a good one! And my squeamish hubby is at work, which makes this time even more suitable for birthing TV!

MsCatShoes · 04/09/2013 20:06

Hope she took the room crying and hi Deya

I'm sorry I'm coming in for a moan (as we all are), just feel quite upset.

I made three requests for work for my working with maternity and that was for a new chair, near a toilet and less stairs. None have been listened to - in fact I now have to move around at least three times a day usually involving at least two flights of stairs each time.

DH is outraged, apparently I should have had a risk assessment done? But his getting frustrated and cross is just getting me really really upset.

It doesn't help either that I said to a colleague that the phrase "but you'e going in eight weeks anyway" was making me feel quite stressed and now she's using it as a way to wind me up "just as a joke" and "I shouldn't take it so seriously".

Mummyboylan · 04/09/2013 20:22

Hi folks, I'm a newbie to mumsnet. Sorry if I'm jumping in but I've been enjoying reading the chat :)

MildredH · 04/09/2013 20:28

Daley- your pics are incredible! We've been umming and ahhing over having a 3d scan- I think I'm sold now! I want to see this little person who's wriggling around in there!

So, I think I've got a haemorrhoid. Confused V sad.

Stom91 · 04/09/2013 20:35

Welcome mummyboy :) when are you due?

Oh no Mildred the joys of pregnancy :(
I really want a 3d scan but I don't have the funds :(

Ooh birthday on October maybe I could ask for it as a present? :)
