Oooh, all this talk of food is making me hungry!

Haven't eaten anything since the giant slice of lemon cake I had for lunch today, so I'm looking forward to tucking into the mariner's pie, potatoes and veggies we've got for dinner Grin

DP surprised me today with tickets to London Zoo! Had a lovely time and after wandering around Regent's Park and the zoo itself for about 5 hours with only one sit down and three loo breaks, I'm feeling like I've achieved the pregnant woman's equivalent of climbing a mountain! Grin

Oh and frouby, thanks so much for the bump band tip - picked one up from Babies R Us yesterday (along with the softest starry baby blanket!) and although it was a bit more expensive than yours, it was well worth the money. Don't think I would've coped without it today!

abcdemma · 22/09/2013 19:13

Foooooood :) OH just made a fabulous roastie with all the trimmings. Am lucky to live with a chef lol. Now not eating till tomorrow night cause I can't move although there's chocolate cake in the fridge

MollySJ · 22/09/2013 19:41

Our lazy day included a slow cooked leg of lamb - mmmmmm! And I've just had the urge to bake so there is a honey cake in the oven as I type - on the premise that its for my dept meeting tomorrow but OBVS it will have to be QC'd tonight with a cuppa before bed :-)

Featherbag · 22/09/2013 20:01

Well, after having some serious words with myself about being an educated woman who doesn't believe in such superstitious nonsense as 'tempting fate', I've made a start on the hospital bag today. Well, I've bought breast pads and mentally planned which pyjamas I need to wash and put in, also what else I need to buy to go in. I'm starting to go through the contents of the loft too (still just in my head!) to decide what needs to come down now to be sorted through/washed/etc. in terms of baby clothes, feeding equipment, and what will need buying again rather than just reusing stuff from DS1!

I know it needs doing, DS1 was born just over 2 weeks from now (eek! Stay in there NotGeorge, you don't even vaguely have a name yet!), but I still don't feel good about preparing things!

NomDeClavier · 22/09/2013 20:45

Omg I have PILES! I have to share the horror with someone. Thank feck you lot are here. Omg what do I do????

kchapper5 · 22/09/2013 20:52

Ahh I'm the opposite absolutely shattered all day but can't sleep and awake tossing and turning most of the night not helped by the hip pains :( I'm currently in a food coma too whisper after going out for a curry for the FIL's birthday :)

mumoftwoboysS · 22/09/2013 20:55

Nom ouch! I think you can get Hemmorhoid cream that will help soothe them. It's pretty common during pregnancy. You can also help avoid them by eating a high fibre diet (no straining whilst on the loo!) avoiding constipation basically -lots of water! Did you read my last post- I have bloody varicose veins on my arse!!! Ah pregnancy is so glamorous.

I've got an interesting- albeit very biased- article that I wanted to share about induction if you fancy a read. It is long but so interesting. I don't know if any of you have been induced before and had good/bad experiences but this article is definitely against them and how the unnatural chemicals in the drug used to induce you (Syntocinon) can cause an unnaturally fast and painful labour and also a high percentage of births then end up with interventions (forceps, epidural, c-section) Anyway a friend of mine sent it to me as she has been told she needs to be induced as her baby has a heart defect and will need to be operated on once it's born but she's really against being induced. I am not trying to scare anyone but it does make you wonder if an artificially started labour is a good idea. Let me know what you think anyway. I'm all for a natural labour/birth if possible (obviously sometimes it just isn't possible)

BohemianRaspberry · 22/09/2013 21:13

This is MsCatShoes having a name change Smile and just stuffed myself with moroccan chicken and potato skins and about to have a helping of homemade apple crumble for dessert ... om nom nom ... and hopefully apple crumble for dessert every single day this week

Ow Nom sounds painful - agreed on the high fibre diet and oodles of water and mum I will read the article after crumble-age

MildredH · 22/09/2013 21:18

Oh Nom. I'm with you. Discovered mine a few weeks back. A word of warning- I slathered on ( and internally) the pile cream which then really irritated me all night so go easy if you do indulge.. My sympathies! Another joy.

Xenadog · 22/09/2013 21:34

No piles here yet - but I think it would be a miracle if I escape as things seem rather a bit bunged up IYKWIM. As for varicose veins I found out you can get them on your "bits!" OMG!!!! How can pregnancy be so horrific?

I'm praying the next 12 weeks speed by for me.

Oh and sausage pasta with homemade blackberry and apple crumble with cream was what I had for dinner and now I am soooo stuffed. I love the fact that pre-pregnancy I would have worried about the calories but at the moment I'm relaxed about it all.

Stom91 · 22/09/2013 21:42

ooh that article looks a good read, i really dont want to be induced! i had a few friends that have had to be and theyve said its awful...

ive had no boob leakage yet.. is that bad??

NomDeClavier · 22/09/2013 21:49

There is no way I'll accept induction, well at least not augmentation. If they're that worried they can book me for a CS.

Thanks for all the reassurance about the piles. I did see your post mum, in fact that's what tipped me off when I felt a bit sensitive wiping. I remember having one (large) one after giving birth to DS and the cream shrinking it back but I didn't have any in pregnancy :( can't imagine how annoying varicose veins elsewhere must be.

kchapper5 · 22/09/2013 21:49

Ooo you'r crumble sounds beautiful xena very jealous.

No boob leakage here either but I'm 25+6 so not sure when it's meant to come in?

The article looks good mum but I'm gonna give it a miss as I'll just freak myself out. Still taking the blissfully ignorant approach here :)

Xenadog · 22/09/2013 21:55

Crumble was fab (DP made it) kchapper and I only had a bit of leakage after I squeezed today at 27+6 so there's plenty of time!

I have only heard negative stuff from friends about being induced so would be keen to avoid that if I can anyway without reading about it. The thought of having a sweep really turns my stomach too - I keep thinking if men had to give birth they would have arranged for it to be much more simple and easier by now!

b0nker5Mum · 22/09/2013 23:06

On the leakage front, I haven't had any and I'm 29 weeks today... Tho they are still cracked so hoping wont affect chances of bf...

I can't remember who was planning on giving birth at the PRUH but anyone who is, do you know when/whether they do birthing classes and a tour of the birthing unit? Not had anything from my MW and kind of want to see it before I make a decision on where to give birth...

Went to the theatre last night and baby seemed to dance away to the music... Great fun... Grin

Hope everyone not dreading Monday morning too much... I only have 39 working days left till mat leave.. Smile

itsliz · 23/09/2013 07:18

Ow ow owww! Woke up with the most horrible sharp stabbing pains in my left boob Sad

It happened last night before going to bed, went away then came back again in the middle of the night and again this morning in exactly the same place. Lasts for about 5 or 10 mins at a time.

Has anyone else felt anything like this before? If so, any idea how to ease the pain?

mumoftwoboysS · 23/09/2013 07:33

Not much boob pain its but have found a lump Sad had another feel last night and its still there. Had one last pregnancy in exactly the same place so wondering if tad a milk duct or something? I guess I have to have it checked out which means more hospital appointments...

I've just ordered some maternity support shorts for my veins- look hideous and they only had white left but one review said they were magic so can't wait to wear them and be pain free hopefully! Need something if I'm going to get through this pregnancy looking after 2 kids!!

PinkWitch803 · 23/09/2013 07:34

I seem to be suffering from what I am guessing to be growing to be pains around my belly. I will get over it, but feels quite uncomfortable.

I just didn't think about how uncomfortable and downright painful pregnancy can be. "It will all be worth it in the end" and it isn't all bad. I still love feeling the baby move around. My freind's five year old told me the baby was tickling me.

Roselau · 23/09/2013 07:44

oh guys - piles sound awful!!! i hope it goes away very fast.

i'm still feeling good - 27+2, knock on wood. no leakage here either.
the only thing are my ankles that are killing me. i have no idea why. although could be because i live on the 7th floor and the damn lift is broken arg.

so i had a lovely day yesterday. it was my birthday (yuk) and my girlfriends took me out for lunch and we were at the spa all afternoon. 4 hours of treatments - heaven. I'm such a lucky girl. only 2 weeks and 2 days until I'm reunited with my hubby i can't wait! 10 business days to go until I go on holidays and then mat leave wooohhooo!!

itsliz · 23/09/2013 08:04

Oh no mum Sad Hope it's nothing too serious. Let us know how you get on if you do get it checked out!

Good old Dr Google seems to suggest that the boob thing is fairly common, although most people seem to get the pains on the right rather than the left... Not sure if I should be worried, or if I'm just odd!

And Roselau that sounds perfect! Glad you had a nice weekend, glad to hear that the end of work is finally in sight too Grin

ccsays · 23/09/2013 08:53

I'm really against being induced too mum, I'm hoping she'll come on time so I won't have to considering. Have even been considering acupuncture, although how effective that is I don't know.

Well, finally got my last day of work confirmed, so I finish up in the 12th Grin Using up all my annual leave with mat leave starting on the 4th of November (I'm due 20th December). Had been debating whether I'd made the right choice to go off so early, bit given the nature of the job and how physically and emotionally knackered I've been, I think I have. So anyway, I'm starting the countdown now!

Also, I got a letter from my Doctor's Surgery saying they had received my letter of complaint and would write back to me in due course, so that should be interesting...

Roselau · 23/09/2013 09:13

itsliz i've had the boob thing. just in one boob. very odd, and i find that the only thing that makes it feel better is pushing on the sore spot (like massaging it out). i am no doctor though... i don't know if that's very good for it. also don't try at your desk, people look at you weird... awkward!

froubylou · 23/09/2013 09:40

Morning all

Just read through that article Mum, thanks for sharing. I really don't want to be induced and because I am aiming for a VBAC am having consultant led care. I had sort of decided that if labour doesn't start normally that I will refuse induction anyway in favour of an ELCS, depending on size and postion of baby. Will definately discuss with the consultant! I know she has already said because of the increased risk of rupture on my scar that if labour doesn't progress quickly they would rather do a C section. Really want a natural birth BUT won't put myself or baby at increased risk for the sake of the 'experiance' if you know what I mean?

Glad you found the bumpbelt useful itsliz. It's not something I would have bought if it hadn't been so cheap but now I know about them I'd have happily paid full price as it makes such a difference when I do the school run and stuff!

I am dreading piles. Think they will be coming my way as am also struggling to 'go' sometimes. Have upped the fruit intake in the hope that it speeds things along a bit lol.

Got a busy week this week. Midwife for 28 week check this afternoon then growth scan on thursday to check on the little man and make sure he's a bit bigger than his sister was! Really do think he is though. Am huuugggeeeee this time and it's all baby/bump. Plus when he is moving around he feels a lot bigger and stronger than DD did at that stage from what I can remember. I can see him moving through my clothes now lol and I don't think I ever could with her. Plus I can't remember her kicking my fanny or up my arse with so much force and strength! Norty boy.

Been decorating all weekend. I usually do it all whilst DP and DD are at school/work but been banned this time lol. But I now remember why I do all the decorating. DP is bloody useless. He has no patience, doesn't want to do things properly and just wants to get it done ASAP. But obviously that doesn't work.

Gone in my favour though pmsl. Left him painting the ceiling with a bag of dust sheets to cover the floor up with. And instructions to shut the dog outside. I only went to B & Q for some more supplies and when I came back he had more or less done the ceiling which is great. But couldn't be bothered to cover the floor up and didn't shut the dog out who knocked the paint lid off which landed wet side down on the floor.

So gave him a bucket of hot water and a scourer and told him to get scrubbing the paint off the laminate. He couldn't be arsed so has said we will replace the flooring instead pmsl. Have wanted it doing for the last 3 years but because it was 'fine' in his eyes it was at the bottom of the lost for doing.

So new flooring next week yay!

Just got another coat of emulsion to do and a bit of glossing left that I was going to do this morning but with having M/W will leave until later or tomorrow now I think. And looking at the glossing DP has done will have to do that again I think lol.

Good job he's a builder by trade and not a painter and decorator lol.

b0nker I'll be at the PRUH, I think they said the tour of the birthing unit runs on a Thursday evening but you can't go until you are at week 36 or 37, can't remember which but I remember thinking that seems to be cutting it fine. I have my MW appointment on Thur so I'll double check then. As for the classes they haven't said anything to me yet about them and was going to ask on Thur so I'll let you know what they say. Have you seen any of the maternity/labour ward up there? I went in for a check on baby a few weeks ago and the birthing unit is literally about 5meters from the labour ward so if you needed to be moved you would be in there within seconds which is great.

oh no nom hope you manage to get something to relieve the pain!!

I haven't had any leakage yet either, I'm 28+2.

Feel really run in today, currently contemplating going home from work but we're already 1 down in our team today as our office manager is on leave and I'm covering for her so I feel bad leaving. Was sick this morning but I've had a few mornings like that here and there over the last couple of weeks and been fine but I feel quite out of it and a teeny bit giddy. Not sure what to do for the best Hmm
