Hello all,

Apologies for the long silence and not answering questions which are now a whole thread behind. Life has been totally hectic this end. Today is the first chance I have had to sit down and catch up for ages and you ladies know how to talk.

I told my boss I was preggers, which I have been putting off. I am so glad to get it off my chest. She had an inkling that I must be pregnant. Has anyone made any decisions about their maternity leave yet or even have an idea of what they might do?

Most of my symptoms have vanished unless I eat mayonnaise or too much chocolate/sweet things, then the nausea comes back, so I try to avoid as best as I can. I now am eating to make up for lack of eating for the first 10 weeks. I'm sure I will put back on the stone I have lost since becoming pregnant in no time at this rate! Does anyone else still not have a bump?

Glad to hear all the good scan news, your more likely to have twins if your over 30 and it's your third pregnancy (that includes miscarriages), the chances of the pregnacy being non-identical twins is the same regardless of family history of twins, you are more likely to have identical twins if you have a history of identical twins in your family. My friend had twins at Easter, she had had two MC's then a successful twin pregnancy.

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 10:30

Im going to have to start watching midwives - that guy just sounds awful!

Joll deal - do I get my size 6 figure and perky boobs I had when I was 25 as part of the swap too?

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 10:38

Hi F&T glad telling the boss went well

My bump is still obvious - but it definitely smaller, probably because my nausea has been worse the last couple of weeks so I've been living on fruit juice

PS - your twins stats aren't helping Grin if I count MC's this is my 5th pregnancy... Why do I get the horrible feeling I am going ot be that person that ends up with twins - Not that I would love them any less, the idea just terrifies me

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 10:39

MTB I'll do you a kindness and say yes...if you're used to being a size 6, it would be cruel to you to have to deal with my heavy frame...my boobs are probably bigger than your waist was back then!

Sarahb8990 · 05/09/2013 10:49

Just had my scan and all is well. I'm measuring dead on for my lmp dates so been put back to 21st march. Jelly bean was having a game of football with its yolk sac lol. I got 3 scan pics for free :-) Got my next scan booked for 1st nov.
hope all other scans today go well

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 10:52

Great news Sarah Thanks

NoMaybeAboutIt · 05/09/2013 10:52

Great news Sarah Smile

LyraSilvertongue · 05/09/2013 11:10

Excellent news Sarah. And welcome back F&T.

Just watched Midwives and I think you're all being a little harsh on Mr Gazelle. I was expecting a monster! She couldn't communicate effectively so we don't know how much of their approach is her idea and how much his. He comes across as controlling because he's talking for both of them. I don't agree with their approach though - what the hell is wrong with cooked food? And no iron supplements when she was deficient? Not good for mother or baby. Still, they got a healthy baby at the end of it and that's what matters.

I might watch another episode so I can put off doing my chores for another hour. The house is very messy (blame my messy boys). They're both back at school today.

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 11:17

Possibly a bit harsh of us Lyra - but when a person cannot communicate effectively themselves, it does give them an air of vulnerability. And when is a woman at her most vulnerable? We're probably more fiercely protective of pregnant women right now!

FoxMulder · 05/09/2013 11:23

Hey Sarah I'm due on 21st too! Wish I'd seen mine moving. They did say if I wanted the NT screening I could come back for another scan in a couple of weeks...wonder if I should take them up on it just for the scan!

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 11:23

Argh - only one episode on midwives on iPlayer - what am I going to do for the rest of my train journey home

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 11:24

Oh and Great new Sarah

BakingEating · 05/09/2013 11:25

Argh! You're all making me feel very guilty about my German homework, which I promise I'll do when it stops being clear blue sky and glorious sunshine, with a warm, gentle breeze. Sigh.

Good luck to today's scanees. I had a scan at 9+5 weeks and my next is in a weeks time at 13+1. So it's definitely not me with the twins, although I tick all the boxes.

commsgirl · 05/09/2013 11:26

Great news Sarah. So exciting that you got to see movement, baby was asleep for mine! Although the midwife said she saw some movement when she was measuring.

Welcome back F&T. Glad you're feeling better and telling the boss went well!

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 11:26

Thanks Joll that's awfully gracious of you Grin - it's the only thing I miss about my life pre DD.

FoxMulder · 05/09/2013 11:28

Oh good to hear someone else had a sleeping one comms

LyraSilvertongue · 05/09/2013 11:30

I agree Joll that she's so much more vulnerable because she can't really speak English. I'd hate to be in her position and unable to understand what's being said. I also agree that people should make every effort to become fluent in the language of whatever country they live in. Otherwise they're completely dependent on others and possible isolated too.

FoxMulder · 05/09/2013 11:33

Try telling that to all the British expats in the costa del sol!

LyraSilvertongue · 05/09/2013 11:37

Exactly, Fox. They rely on other expats and a lot don't mix with the locals, which I think is disrespectful to them.

Beccadugs · 05/09/2013 11:49

I am so hungry this morning... I can't stop shoving food in my face.

After weeks of nausea this is very odd indeed!

PramQueen1971 · 05/09/2013 11:50

Liberuna, I won't tell my dad to 'bugger off' as he is now fully redeemed, forgiven and a huge support in my life. People can change with the right medication and counselling

MTB, 1 in 63 UK women will give birth to twins.

Jolls, I'm thinking of you, chuck x I'm with you on the foreigners not speaking a word of English living in this country. I am fed up of getting the wrong pizza delivered or my Lebanese GP giving me an anal examination for earache Grin

Gawj, what are you going to do about these toxic men in your life who appear to treat you like some eight year-old to be bossed-about and disrespected? Does your boyfriend have any redeeming qualities (and I don't mean the size of his knob)? Do you have any female friends? I suspect not, if he doesn't allow you to have a fb account. Please be careful with this chap.

My copy of Ina May Gaskin's Guide To Childbirth just arrived from Amazon. I just randomly opened the page at a subheading: Sphincters Do Not Obey Orders. You're telling me. I've spent the last 48-hours demanding a mammoth turd to evacuate my bowel but is it listening?

I'm off to the dole to be told there are no jobs for 42 year-old, pregnant recovering alcoholics. Yeah, tell me something I didn't know, dick splat.

PramQueen1971 · 05/09/2013 11:53

I'll be there in spirit at 3.20pm, Jolls! Thanks

NoMaybeAboutIt · 05/09/2013 11:56

Prammy you always brighten up my day Grin. Can we swap sphincters? Mine doesn't understand that I'd like what little food I'm getting in to stay in my body for more than a couple of hours Blush

Also def not me with twins Grin

It's been a busy morning here. 3 deliveries, and all for me Grin

MummyPig24 · 05/09/2013 12:00

Great news on the scan Sarah.

Dds teachers have been. It was so weird seeing them at home (they taught ds last year). Dd sat and did a puzzle with one of them. It's baking hot here but I can't face going out in the heat after feeling so awful after it yesterday. I was out for a few hours in it and felt so sick and had an awful headache afterwards. Dd isn't complaining though, we've done some puzzles, read some books and now she is watching Tangled. I've done some washing and hoovered so the house is looking fairly presentable.

Praying for a better afternoon than yesterday. Tantrums and tears, yelling and shouting. Ds woke dd up when he went to bed and he didn't go to sleep till nearly 9. I might cry myself if we have a repeat tonight.

FoxMulder · 05/09/2013 12:05

I would take any kind of pizza delivery. No one delivers food around here. The utter bastards.

Oh, the dole, I tried that once but they told me to bugger off because I had a boyfriend so he had to look after me. He was only 19 and earned £10K so that was a bit crap.
