Good luck with your scan HotCross . What time are you I

gawjus - I've found that some men are selfish enough that until a woman looks enormous, they seem to convince themselves that the symptoms are in the woman's head. Could you stay with a friend for a night or 2 just so you both have some space? You being so ill probably has taken its toll on him too. Absolutely no excuse for his behaviour but a couple of days away might give him a chance to reflect on his bad behaviour.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 05/09/2013 08:51

Good luck today Jolls and Hot!

Gawj he sounds like a dick. This is the last thing you need. I second trying to get away from him for a while. You need a rest, not a guilt trip x

So you sound exactly like me. I had to give in and go to the GP. And now I've actually stopped rushing around, it's hit me how tired I really am. Please see the doc.

I could look into Mr Hollywoods eyes all day. And all night....Wink

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 08:51

Ice we're off mid week to Longleat too - would be rather funny to bump into you there. Please tell me you're going the w/c 11th?

Re the twins thing we 128 people on the stats - although some have been a lot less active than us regular chatter boxes Grin so using the averages twins apparently occur in about 1 in 30 pregnancies - so there could be 4 of us with twins... Of course numbers don't translate as directly as that - but I'd be surprised it we didn't have at least one set

Good luck to Hot and Joll and anyone else having their scan today???

Lump I believe if your placenta is lying against the stomach wall it can make picking up the heart beat with a dopler difficult, but I only speak as someone who had a friend who had that problem, on the plus side, it did mean she got to have a scan every 6-8 weeks to check all was well.

Brighton my breakfast this morning consists of a liter of Ruby Breakfast juice, 2 slices of toast and a 6 pack of quavers Blush

Am trying to pluck up the courage to have my legs waxed next week (they look like the amazon at the moment - I get too dizzy bending down to shave in the shower) please someone slap me and tell me to man up and get it done - I feel awful for DP, having to shag me at the moment all fat and hairy and he's all fit and trimmed - sigh

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 08:58

MTB is it really that high a figure for twins? And we haven't had any yet? And my scan is this afternoon. Confused

liberuna · 05/09/2013 09:04

MTB tell me how it goes im considering a brazilian , its looking like a forest down there and I can't shave.

Gkad to hear bleeding calmed down Jo please do let us know

Pram and gawjus how you have coped so far is a testament. Tell the men to bugger off.

Ive had enough of hearing how weak we woman are and how more vulnerable we become when we are with child. This is NOT the 1920's

Sorry for rant but been having all out rows with mum. I just got made redundant and she wants me and baby to come and live with her (abroad). OH supposedly stays hereand pays the bills

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 09:07

Jolls - the NHS website says that 1 in every 32 babies is a twin- although the older you are, the more likely it is... erp - I have my scan next week and I'm mid 30's help Shock

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 09:11

Anyone heard from Bousy? her scan was earlier this week and it's been very quiet

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 09:14

I'm only 25 MTB so I have that in my favour at least! Would I be a huge amount bigger at this stage if I were carrying twins?

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 09:19

Yeah - the signs are being much bigger, very high hormone levels and either having had hormone treatment or being over 30.

I tick 3 out of the 4...

Want to swap ages? It seems daft that the older you are the higher the likelihood of twins is, surely when you're younger you have more energy to deal with two?

justmuddlingthroughit · 05/09/2013 09:19

1 in 30????? I thought it was about 1 in 90! Shock

gawj, I would be fuming if my dh spoke to me like that, even if I weren't ill, as you are. He's behaved like a total dick splat (thanks to whomever coined that phrase, it's awesome), and I hope you manage to make him see that. A night or two away may do you good in the meantime.

Good luck to jolleigh, and all other scannees today! Sorry, totally lost track of who's turn it is Blush

justmuddlingthroughit · 05/09/2013 09:21

*whose

LyraSilvertongue · 05/09/2013 09:25

Liberuna, can you get dh to trim you down there?

LyraSilvertongue · 05/09/2013 09:26

Surely if one in every 32 babies is a twin, that means one in 64 pregnancies is a twin pregnancy.

MTBMummy · 05/09/2013 09:34

Lyra - that would tie in better with the numbers I had heard - it was only when I checked the NHS website this morning that I saw the 32 figure...

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 09:37

Still adds up to 2 missing pairs of twins in the threads!

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 09:38

MTB of course I'll swap ages with you Grin

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 09:41

Watching the latest episode of Midwives. This bloke who wants the natural everything isn't even letting his missus talk! I'd have twatted him by now. I'm hormonal enough that he's genuinly pissing me off.

HotCrossPun · 05/09/2013 09:42

At the last scan we went to DP's face was a picture. We have barely dtd since we conceived so he hasn't seen quite how spectacular my thatch is Grin

The sonographer pulled down my leggings to tuck the paper in and unleashed the top half of the bush, he looked terrified!

HotCrossPun · 05/09/2013 09:45

Agree Jolls he is a dick. It seems a bit dangerous to have somebody who is obviously that evangelical about no pain relief speaking on behalf of his wife.

No scans, no paracentemol, no folic acid, really low iron levels but she wasn't allowed to take iron tablets or eat anything other than uncooked fruit and vegetables. WTF Shock

For all we know she could have been pleading for pain relief, and instead of him translating that to the midwife he could have just said to her ''no dear, the midwife says you are to far along to have anything''

And no gas and air? What is wrong with air?!

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 09:45

Hadn't even thought of having a tidy up HotCross . For a dark haired lady though, I'm really not that 'bushy'. But if any pube goes on show at the scan, DP has an inappropriate enough sense of humour that it could get quite embarrassing Confused

NoMaybeAboutIt · 05/09/2013 09:46

Grin Hot. I'm still keeping mine tidy non existent down there. I really must shave my legs today, the hair has gone wild! I can't remember who said about the hairy tummy, but I've developed a nice stripe there too Hmm

Jolls they annoyed me so much. I think it was the refusal of antibiotics post birth and the fact that even though she was anaemic, he wouldn't let her have iron tablets.....

NoMaybeAboutIt · 05/09/2013 09:47

Great minds Hot Wink

Jolleigh · 05/09/2013 09:49

HotCross - I've always been adament that people living in any country should have a very good grasp if the native language, if not fluent. And my view is primarily for medical reasons such as this one. I think it's really dangerous to rely on interpretation in those situations. Not sure if that's a really narrow minded view but it really does worry me.

FoxMulder · 05/09/2013 09:52

brighton How come they wanted the baby to wake up for the scan? I think mine was asleep too, but they didn't mention it. I guess because he was in a good position to measure already. His heart was beating though! It was all over with so quick I didn't get a chance to see if he was moving.

gawj Your boyfriend has acted unforgivably in my opinion. It sounds absolutely vile the way he has spoken to you & acted when you are sick! You're carrying his bloody child, he should be waiting on you hand and foot and offering unlimited sympathy, surely?!

MummyPig24 · 05/09/2013 10:21

Dh commented last night that I had been keeping myself groomed in that area. I was like "eh?" I haven't been anywhere near it! My hair growth has slowed down majorly though, a good side effect of pregnancy!

I did feel a bit sorry for the Russian woman on midwives, it must be quite scary going through pregnancy and labour not really understanding what someone is saying. I was just so thankful that they had a healthy baby, having declined any scans or tests.
