Lyra I wanted the Peach until I found out it won't take a buggy board so that was the end of that idea! Think its between the Bugaboo Buffalo and the Uppababy Vista. Then again, there's not actually anything wrong with my Oyster, I just fancy a change Blush Prams and slings are the only baby items I am really willing to splash out on because I get so much use out of them - especially since getting rid of the car!

Jolleigh · 03/09/2013 11:05

My mum pulled that one too Fox but then OH used some initiative and got a Freecycled one without having heard that mum had offered. I don't want to cut his balls off by saying 'actually no I'd prefer the lovely new one thanks'.

I don't think mum was thinking quite in the price ranges being discussed here though. Confused

Probably a good job I suggested she helps with the price of the cot instead.

FoxMulder · 03/09/2013 11:14

I just had a colleague say to me 'you must have been shocked, I assumed it wasn't planned'. How random! I'm an obvious candidate to be getting up-duffed if anything. I've been married a couple of years, I've just turned 30...

LyraSilvertongue · 03/09/2013 11:16

That's annoying, fox. I've had some inappropriate reactions too. One "friend" told me off for being so irresponsible. No congratulations or anything Hmm

MummyPig24 · 03/09/2013 11:18

Great idea making my own ice tea, I will have a bash at that, thanks!

We are getting the Orb too Lyra. We like the peach but its too much money for us. The orb is really attractive, comfy and convenient, nice to push. I don't drive so baby will be in it a lot doing school runs and walking about. The price tag is great too. I prefer teal but the black is cheaper.

Fox some people are rather rude aren't they! I don't feel it's right to ask if a pregnancy was planned. A few family members asked us, but awkward!

Jolleigh · 03/09/2013 11:19

Those are some quite uncouth reactions! Were they brought up with no class?!?

FoxMulder · 03/09/2013 11:20

How weird! I had another colleague ask me yesterday if it was planned too. It actually made me laugh, the sheer....yeah, inappropriateness of it. That could cause some serious offence to someone else. And he doesn't know me well enough to know how I would take it.

It's in stark contrast to the vast majority of my colleagues who are saying nothing atall to me. I guess because they know they're not supposed to know.

FoxMulder · 03/09/2013 11:21

Yeah, it's pretty personal. It's like asking about someone's contraceptive usage.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/09/2013 11:32

The "friend" who told me off had no business saying those things. We're not even particularly close. If she disapproved, she should say nothing. She also told me DP was "weird", having never met him. He's so far from weird Hmm

Mummy, the Orb is a good compromise, I think. It looks nice and it has lots of nice features. I also prefer real but the black one is £100 cheaper ATM. That offer runs out fairly soon but I'm sure there will be other offers between now and March.

LyraSilvertongue · 03/09/2013 11:32

*teal

Rockchick1984 · 03/09/2013 11:35

Oh, I also like the Joie Chrome but its new out so not much in the way of reviews yet.

Rockchick1984 · 03/09/2013 11:35

Utter bargain though, and very pretty colour!

PramQueen1971 · 03/09/2013 11:42

Fox, maybe you have one of those faces that looks like sex is the last thing on your mind Grin Speaking of sex, I orgasmed in my sleep last night. It's a pity I don't get that excited during my waking hours Hmm

MTB, I love what you did to your neighbours.

Maybe, I'm very cross that you have let this get so bad. I knew you were suffering but I didn't think you were this poorly. Tell us what the doc said x

Lyra, I clenched my buttock cheeks when you described the arse hook. If only some of my exes had been subject to such instruments.

Sometime in the not-too-distant future (25 wks pregnant, I think) I get a £500 voucher from DWP for the baby. I will look at prams then, although I know mum & dad will insist on adding a few hundred quid.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/09/2013 11:53

Hello all, thank you for your kind words. Just back from the doc, was there ages. I've been signed off for at least 2 weeks and have been given anti-emetics. My blood pressure had plummeted and she thinks I'm just exhausted. I don't think I realised how poorly is become. I feel better that at least it wasn't in my head Smile

Loving all the pram talk. Another Icandy peach fan here. We were advised to order ours after our 12 weeks scan as the lead times are ridiculous on them.

I can't believe some of your neighbours Shock. Thank good was you're moving!!

FoxMulder · 03/09/2013 12:00

That's good Maybe you can get some rest now then. Know what you mean about feeling like it's all in your head. Something I'm thinking 'if I just make myself do something, maybe it will take my mind off it' then I puke & know it's real.

Didn't realise you had to order prams. Great. This is going to be just like the sofa fiasco. I wasn't thinking of looking at prams until after Christmas.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/09/2013 12:01

That's exactly it Fox Grin

PramQueen1971 · 03/09/2013 12:07

Great news, Marbie. Now...whaddaya going to do with yourself? Grin I wish you lived nearby Sad

PramQueen1971 · 03/09/2013 12:11

Dabarai, where are you? I hope you're okay.

IceNoSlice · 03/09/2013 12:21

Oh my, what a day so far. DS was up most of the night but that's not too unusual at the moment as he seems to be permanently teething, poor soul. So i was knackered already.

I dropped him off at nursery, get half way to work (just pulling onto motorway) and my phone rings -nursery. My hands free is playing silly buggers so I couldn't answer safely. Pull off motorway and listen to answer phone. DS has a fever and I need to pick him up. DH is in Manchester today so can't do it. I turn round, go back to nursery, pick up poor DS, who really is poorly, then realise I need to go to work to pick up my laptop as there is something I must do today.

Turn round again, DS falls asleep in car, I get to work and I'm thinking 'now what?!' I'm trying to be the 'in control, professional, not flaky' working mother. So i really didn't want to wake DS and take a grumpy baby into my very corporate office. Brainwave- called the secretary who came down and watched DS whilst I nipped in, picked up laptop and had a quick word with the boss.

Took DS to the docs- he has an eat infection, poor mite. Got home and he won't take Calpol or his antibiotics so we are both covered in sticky medicine. Then he filled his nappy and it overflowed. I was still in my work dress.

Three episodes of pippa pig later and he's asleep on my lap. Poor little sausage.

Phew, sorry that was epic!

LyraSilvertongue · 03/09/2013 12:23

Great news maybe. Now you'll be forced to relax. Is it you who has the two-hour commute? That's a punishing journey even in the best of health.

Pram, I don't get the voucher because I have previous children so I guess the assumption is that I already have all the kit. Despite my last pregnancy being a decade ago. Fortunately I did save most of the big things but they aren't to know that. Surely most people don't keep their cot for a decade when they're not expecting to have any more babies. And some stuff, like prams and mattresses, wear out and have to be replaced.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/09/2013 12:23

Oh ice the poor thing!! You sound like bloody super mum!!

I wish I lived nearer to Prambo Sad. I don't know what I'm going to do if I'm honest. Sleep sounds good though Wink

mimili · 03/09/2013 12:24

All is well with the scan!!! Phew!!! :)

mimili · 03/09/2013 12:24

All is well with the scan!!! Phew!!! :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/09/2013 12:25

I am one of the commuters Lyra, I think MTB is the other with the long commute. I am pleased I went.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/09/2013 12:25

Brilliant news Mimii!
