Wow Thanks all for ur thoughts & suggestions re treatments for ds chicken pox. I'm crossing my fingers he's gonna have it mild as not too much scratching yet. Not been able to go to chemist and dh is away for a week but have my sds coming tomorrow so going to load up on chamomile pirotin and the mousse stuff. Poor mite has it on his bits but he usually spends non nursery days potty training so nappy free. I'm feeling a bit meh about food today not nauseas but absolutely nothing grabs me and I feel queasy at the thought of cooking. I think things have improved a little pirates mam I'm sure it will ease or start to come and go a bit more.

apprenticemamma · 29/08/2013 20:17

ps. I have had chicken pox before. I asked my v helpful Dr if I needed an immunity test anyway having checked the guidelines then and there no but promised me would confirm this with her senior and ring me tomorrow. Had a scare last time to as was exposed to shingles and same conclusion. Basically reassured that all was absolutely fine. Still, I'm paranoid but that's what pregnancy does to me.

PramQueen1971 · 29/08/2013 20:42

Pirates, you poor sod. Is your sickness all day or limited to specific times (mine is from 4-10pm which means I only throw my tea up)?

Imeg, blokes are weird, right?

Slippers, how old are you?

Frank, what a reassuring set of odds!

I am so incredibly happy. I never, ever thought I would be blessed with a child of my own.

MummyPig24 · 29/08/2013 20:45

apprentice I hope your little guy doesn't suffer too much. Neither of my two have had it yet, they seem to had superhuman immune systems, the amount of times they have been directly exposed to it and they haven't caught it is miraculous. There's a gel you can get to soothe the itching. Also heard calamine cream is better than the lotion.

pirates I'm right there with you about the nausea. Fruit is ok but any sweet drinks, cakes etc leave me with a horrid taste in my mouth and feeling sick. I struggle to find things I want to eat, the thought of a sandwich for lunch almost had me running for the loo, but toast was totally fine! I have been wanting cottage pie for ages so I made it tonight and it totally hit the spot. I feel like I spend an inordinate amount of time flaked on the sofa unable to speak without retching.

BionicEar · 29/08/2013 20:56

Evening ladies!

Good to hear more positive results regarding scans. Smile

PramQueen 1971 - in response to your question - I am BionicEar! Grin I haven't been posting regularly due to struggling to stay awake in the evenings after throwing putting the DCs to bed, but have posted a few posts and lurked otherwise!

Apprentice - hope your DS doesn't got the pox too bad and that'll you'll be ok. Can recommend ViraSoothe which I think may be a fairly new product on the market, as wasn't about with DC1 but used earlier this year with DC2 when he had the pox, as did my friends when theirs got it as well. It is a clear gel and it is meant to help soothe the itching and also reduce scarring. I got it from Boots but not sure if anywhere else stocks it. www.boots.com/en/ViraSoothe-Chickenpox-Relief-Cooling-Gel-75g_1002773/

This morning I threw up a couple of times and felt really bloated but by the afternoon I felt a little more human, if not a tad tired.

Told the ILs today - my MIL just squinted at the scan photo and went "Is this a recent one?! Are you winding me up?!" and eventually went congratulations when she realise we weren't winding her up! Grin

So the news slowly getting out there, which probably will be speeded up by DC1 who seems to be telling everyone she meets, and then following it with "Hmmmph I'm not pleased about it" when they ask if she is pleased! Grin Ah the joys of children!

liberuna · 29/08/2013 21:09

Finally had my scan wriggling bsby clear as day!. Never been so relieved as symptoms practically disappeared leading up to it.

Both me and OH cried and every time we told another member of family about it.

Coolhand · 29/08/2013 21:14

Pirates I was nearly in tears on Sun afternoon - told DH I was just so fed up with feeling rubbish. It lifted the very next day, so hoping you turn a corner soon.

Apprentice it's so horrible watching them suffer. Hope it is a mild case.

3 people commented on how 'big' my bump is for 13 weeks today in school. Told DH and he said he had been thinking the same. He said most people don't look pregnant when they are just at the announcing stage but you can't miss my bump. Hmmm, pretty sure I had pupils asking me when baby was due at 13/14 weeks last time around, so probably just the same!

PiratesMam · 29/08/2013 21:15

Now I'm on the meds I'm keeping most food down but still retching throughout the day. So embarrassing if I'm out somewhere with the kids! I feel ok in the middle of the day, my worst times are 9-11 and 3 onwards; I always retch/puke at 7pm so when I'm putting the kids to bed its a race to shut the door so I can puke in peace! They went to bed at 6.40pm today!! Grin

Sorry for the whinge. I remember getting to this point with DD's pregnancy too - when you can no longer remember what genuine hunger is, just eating so you're not sick. If it goes in exactly the same pattern then I might be cheerful again around week 16. Maybe I shouldn't post again until then!!

Sarahb8990 · 29/08/2013 21:18

Glad to hear all the good scan news, can't wait for mine next week!

Re chicken pox try giving him a salt water bath in the mornings helps reduce to spots, stops more coming out and helps the itching. I did this with ds and he never itched once and they were gone in a couple days.
Also coming into contact with chicken pox whilst pregnant is ok(aslong as you've ha it yourself) my mum was exposed when preg with my sis n she has never had it but has full immunity where as me. Iv had it 4 times!!

Beccadugs · 29/08/2013 21:41

Me too pirates am still feeling utterly utterly rubbish. Being sick 4/5 episodes per day and constant nausea. (Trying not to whinge too much!)

DH has gone to Ikea to pick up some stuff with a friend and they are going to move some furniture when they get back. All I want to do is go to bed as I feel so awful, but some of the furniture is in our bedroom...

DH has also banned buying anything until after Christmas. Tell me he is wrong!!

commsgirl · 29/08/2013 22:17

Hugs to everyone having a rubbish sicky time. Mine started really early but has started easing off now, although it still creeps in every few hours. I was a mess a couple of weeks ago though. It's not forever!

PramQueen1971 · 29/08/2013 23:16

Sorry I didn't remember you, Bionic Blush

BionicEar · 29/08/2013 23:19

Ah no harm done PramQueen 1971, just blame it on preggie hormones making your brain forgetful, that's what I do! Tee hee! Wink

IceNoSlice · 30/08/2013 04:11

Hello. I wrote a long post earlier, congratulating scannees by name, commiserating with sick folk and poxy sons Smile
However the internet ate my post. MN seems to have been offline a lot today for me.

Gah, insomnia!! Been awake now for nearly 2 hours. Such a waste. I'll be knackered tomorrow.

So a colleague announced today she is due 6 March (hello CG if you're here!) - I slipped my news in on the back of it. "Funny you should say that- we're due the same week!" However she didn't want a big fuss so I don't think she'll be annoyed that I stole her thunder - hopefully!

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 30/08/2013 04:28

Hi Ice!! Glad to see I'm not the only one awake at this stupid hour!!! Grin
I'm so bloody tired, but I can't sleep!!

Dh has the day off tomorrow, I'm going to be fit for nothing. Sad

How is everyone? I had some shocking horrible news at the weekend, not been on here much, but I think I've caught up.
Glad to hear all the scans are going well, mine is still 2 weeks away, it seems like ages.

Anyway, probably should try and go back to sleep - maybe ill go for a wee first lol!!

liberuna · 30/08/2013 05:12

Morning ice & raspberry

OH couldn't sleep due to baby thinking. Why this meant he had to wake me in the process I don't know!

Now he's fast asleep and im pondering away, need a wee and now hungry. Argh have to be in work in 3 hours!

Good luck to any scans for today and my fellow insomniacs.

liberuna · 30/08/2013 05:14

Raspberry
Don't know if you want to share the news but hope everything is moving in a positive direction.

MummyPig24 · 30/08/2013 06:08

Dh has woken me up too. Why oh why? The kids won't be up for a little while yet, the days of me getting up at 6 are over (for another 6 months) and he woke me up. Bastard.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 30/08/2013 06:30

Hope everything is ok Raapberry

Insomnia sucks Mummy, Lib and Ice. Doesn't matter how tired I am, I wake up for multiple toilet trips and then struggle to sleep again. Cannot be arsed for work today. TFIF!

Lottie345 · 30/08/2013 06:35

Congrats to all yesterday's scanees. Lovely post pram so happy for you. Hope all the people feeling wretched turn a corner soon

Have my friends funeral today. Already tired and emotional and holding together going to be tough. When he collapsed and was in hosp I do wanted to tell him my news but as was visiting with other people I didn't want to tell them (work friends). So I never got the chance. The last thing he said to a mutual friend was he was worried about me working long hours, looking tired and losing too much weight. Wish I could have reassured him.

Anyone got a scan today? Hope all goes perfectly

commsgirl · 30/08/2013 09:10

Lottie Flowers

Hope everything's okay Raspberry

Sickness is back with a vengeance today. Sitting at my desk sipping water. Sad

SoSurprised · 30/08/2013 10:06

hi everyone, any scans today?

babybear9 · 30/08/2013 10:50

commsgirl i've got it so bad today too. it's never stopped since week 7 but this week seems to be worse than ever. Really hoping this stops soon - its just so drainging isn't it!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 30/08/2013 11:01

It's shattering Comms and Bear. I'm never actually sick, it's just constant nausea. But I've found my cure for now. Oranges. And orange squash. And fresh fruit juice.

commsgirl · 30/08/2013 11:23

Maybs oranges are the answer! I think I'll be giving birth to one the amount I'm eating. I'm never sick either. I always think I'd feel better if I was but who knows.

Bear it is really draining. I have had a few better days so hoping this one is just a blip. It's horrible trying to work :(.
