Been offline for a couple of days, Indignatio if you're still watching I can't say how sorry I am for you . Take care x

2Happy · 29/06/2006 09:17

LTH, saltcod - IME "bloom" was used as a euphemism for "OMG you're the size of a house!" from the few people who bother to try and be tactful during pregnancy!
Saltcod - Iona! That was our choice of name if ds had been a dd, such a beautiful name. Sadly, one of our friends nicked it for her dd born a few months after our ds, so don't feel we could use it if this is a dd (not that there's much chance of that)

coffeebeanz · 29/06/2006 10:02

Indignatio.... so sorry to hear your news. Take care

Nemo1977 · 29/06/2006 11:04

bloom...pmsl never bloomed with either of mine..by time I got to 16 wks with DD spd had kicked in soo badly I felt like a 90yr old.

hope everyone is ok. I think I have a chest infection coming on as feel rough and chest is burning..bleugh. Also feeling really panicky sa bought a doppler from a friend and so far have not been able to pick up the baby..now I know that you cant always at this stage and the doppler also doesnt pick up my heartbeat when placed right on my heart so what chance does it with a teeny weeny baby but still not helping the fretting. Am nearly 12wks and still not feeling pg just feeling tired which is still more to do with DD than anything else.

ELM · 29/06/2006 11:55

Really sorry to hear your news Indignatio.

On a real downer this morning. Bad morning sickness all day yesterday, and dropping with exhaustion..had to go home sick from work. Keep telling myself that millions of women do this, so why can't I cope better?
I read your posts and feel pathetic when I think you all are feeling exactly the same way, and managing looking after your children..
Also find that I am turning in to psycho bitch from hell..snapping at everyone.
Sorry for the major whinge, it's just all getting on top of me this morning.

Sorry you are feeling rough Nemo, hope you feel better soon

Nemo1977 · 29/06/2006 11:57

ELM it is funny how much your first pregnancy makes you feel ten times worse than any others. I was completely invalided when having DS..would come home from work and lay on the couch feeling sorry for myself...only thing is now my bosses wont give me the opportunity to do that so relish it for as long as you can as you never get another pregnancy like your first

ELM · 29/06/2006 11:58

Just reread my post...how self-pitying!
Sorry ladies!!

ELM · 29/06/2006 11:58

Thanks Nemo!

LadyTophamHatt · 29/06/2006 14:36

ELM, i can remeber sobbing in the Gp's surgery because I felt so bad...and I hadn't even been sick!!
I sobbed and wailed to my boss, to friends....basically anyone who would listen to my wimpers.

1st pregnancies are so much worse because you have no idea what to expect, when you're PG with your 2nd (or 3rd or 4th, or 5th depending on who's reading this post)you know what to expect. Ok you might feel just as bad but there usually a small person or 2 to irritate you and take you mind off it.

You should make the most of it because as your family increases you get less and less sympathy in those early months IME!!1

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 29/06/2006 14:39

oh LTH was going to say about the less sympathy its like by the time you get to the 3rd plus people are like oh thats right your pg...pmsl

magnolia1 · 29/06/2006 14:42

Lol, I rembere feeling sick with the twins and going to the doctor to demand anti sickness tablets!! I hadn't actually been sick once

LTH: yes everyone keeps saying 'So do you want a boy then?' Dh wants a boy but to be honest I am not bothered

Nemo: The doppler should pick up your heart beat easily. I have a doppler and when placed on my heart a really loud clear heartbeat can be heard. Are you sure its working properly??

LadyTophamHatt · 29/06/2006 14:43

Even my DH says that nemo!!!!

I was trying on a dress yesterday and he said "God I just looked at you stomach and thought "Ohhh thats getting abit wobbly" and then I remeber you 're PG"

WTF!!!!
cheeky bastard, I fely like punching him!!!

OP posts:
LadyTophamHatt · 29/06/2006 14:46

Magnolia, I have to admit I did really want a girl when i first found out but now I'm really not bothered either.

I've surprised at myself feeling that TBH

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 29/06/2006 14:47

magnolia dh is convinced it is broken.

LTH pmsl my dh is like that when I have lugged a ton of stuff into the house from car and wonders why I am fuming then he says oh yeah your pg you should have shouted me...ermmm what about you should remember I am carrying your third baby

lisavb · 29/06/2006 15:55

Loubie - don't be too nervous about the risk test - I am 38 also and my tests came back with 1:17000 for Down's and 1:100000 for Edward's. My doctor wanted a decision from us whether to do an amniocentesis and with these results so far I am thinking not.I was really nervous before the results came back but now feeling much more positive and one less thing to panic over

LadyTophamHatt · 29/06/2006 19:34

Blimey Lisa, those are good results!!

I do wonder if different sosngraphers measure slightly different so the results vary hugely.
Lisa, do you know the actual measurements for you nuchal? My little person measured 62 mm and the nuchal fold was 1.6mm which gave the 1/2099 result.
I wonder how accurate it is?

I suppose there are all differnet factors to concider though....

Sorry brain working over drive again

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 29/06/2006 20:57

they dont do nuchal fold scans here but then we refuse the blood tests to detect downs etc anyway.

lisavb · 30/06/2006 05:45

The nuchal fold measured 1.1mm and Muli (had to have a name) measured 47mm. Nemo - I understand why you would refuse the blood tests - it was very stressful waiting for the results, but 38, first so-far successful pregnancy, I needed anything and everything to put my mind at rest. Mt doctor also recommended I had the triple test at 16 weeks - need to make decision about that now

saltcod · 30/06/2006 09:33

Morning all. So if nobody here feels like they're "blooming" yet or "bloomed" through a previous pregnancy, why is it that all preg ladies out there nearly always look serene & gorgeous?! And yet I just felt like a beached whale last time (and I only put on 1 stone!).... and can't imagine blooming this time either!

The tiredness this time round is something else too. The latest I'm managing to stay up till each evening is only 7 - 8pm (and that's usually with a quick nap straight after work/school run too)! I want to bloom, I want to bloom!!!

becks5109 · 30/06/2006 13:26

Morning all, had a private nuchal scan this morning am only 11+3 but they still managed to do it and it was wonderful. My odds went from just by age at 1:350 before to after the nuchal were 1:4000 or something like that and they also did bloods so will get the results later. Think the nuchal measured 1.6 and baby was waving lots and wriggling around and it was fantastic to see - I enjoyed it loads more than in my first pregnancy and I think cos it was private we had much longer and much more information from the sonographer. They did say that if you've had a bleed your bloods will be slightly alterered as your HCG levels would be higher so the down's odd may not change that much. Am feeling so much more relieved and happy though. Have already rung my best friend and told her and we're tell DH family this weekend and I'll call my brother later today so now it feels all exciting and real instead of nerve wracking and worrying! I've got my hospital nuchal scan next week so can't wait to see bubba again! I am very

Nemo1977 · 30/06/2006 13:47

lisa can understand that dont knock anyone getting tests for whatever reasons as it is all down to personal choice.

Saltcod they are not blooming and serene it is all down to perspective..lol Lots of people told me when pg with dd I looked well and glowed...I personally think it was the slight sheen of sweat from chasing ds around..pmsl

becks glad all went well at your scan.

WE have been out to toddlers this morning which ds loves and dd likes to watch. Then decided to treat him and take him to macdonalds for lunch and we sat in so he is in his element now..lol I am still feeling rundown but easier to take the tinkers out than stay home. H is doing a lot better so antibiotics must be kicking in for her.

Dragonhart · 30/06/2006 19:40

Glad your dd is getting a bit better Nemo. And that the scan went well LTH. Glad you had a nice birthday.

Had a broken tooth which was killing me but stupid dentist receptionist was a complete cow yesterday and told me the next appt was in Aug, so much so that I burst into tears and told her it was really hurting and I could't take anything as I was preg. She just got rid of me by telling me to come and wait. Had to spend 1 1/2 hours in the waiting room giving her evils! Dentist was lovely though and all is fixed today.

Feeling a bit down to be honest. Really worried that something is wrong. Feels weird. Cant explain. Rang midwife but she just said that now I am past 12wks any pains are prob just stretching and to take it easy. Did tell her that that is not easy with an 11month old but she just laughed! I have to wait another 11 days til the scan for reasurance when I will be 14+4 (I think!). Really dreading the prospect of having bad news in that little dark room and having to come home and tell everyone. Know it is just irrational and dh keeps telling me not to worry and to try and forget about the whole baby thing for a week but obviously it is not that easy.
