Definitely not just you Laura Grin Just as long as he doesn't expect anything to happen between about 8 and 10.30 when I need my evening nap... Or in the morning... Or when I'm moody... Poor dh, if I were him I wouldn't like me very much at the moment Sad

You don't need a full bladder? It's just a myth...

lyndsey hope all goes well. Try to pace yourself with the water or you will peak too soon!!

I had to have a full bladder if I wanted nuchal apparently. Perhaps it helps with the position for measurements but if you are just checking organs and limbs it doesn't need to be so precise.

Report
Milkandtwo · 08/08/2013 08:52

212 - I only had a half full bladder for my 12 week (with nuchal) and the sonographer couldn't get what she needed as a result - I had to go away and drink more and go back when full which she declared as much better... I think the fullness of the bladder might affect the shape of the uterus, how rounded it is and therefore how much baby is able to move about? But that theory is just my own based on my before and after full bladder scan pics! Before it was like a collapsed kidney bean with baby stuck and one end and so not able to change position much and after it was 'inflated' and fully rounded...

Milkandtwo · 08/08/2013 08:56

Uh no, my theory is rubbish actually! The top Q&A here has it (same answer on a number of sources) www.medrayimaging.com/page/ultrasound-faqs

Well, my scan yesterday went brilliantly. The picture was sooo clear (apparently they were using the hospitals newest, state of the art scanner) so could see everything really well. The bean was kicking and waving frantically and it finally seems real now. Have told everyone now and the relief is immense! My boys are delighted they are going to have a baby brother or sister and have been asking questions, looking at my pregnancy book to find things out, discussing names (albeit mostly reeling off names from Horrid Henry Hmm but still...)

They dated me as 11+5 yesterday so I am now due 21st Feb. I didn't have the NT as I decided knowing chances if they were higher than average would just make me anxious and less likely to enjoy the pregnancy but wouldn't change my mind about keeping it. I have my 20 week scan on 9th October and am hoping the baby will cooperate and we'll be able to find out the sex.

I've now also fetched down all my maternity clothes from the loft - what a relief to finally get into something comfortable. Hello elasticated waistbands! Grin

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. You're a chatty lot- I can hardly keep up Wink

laura definitely not just you Grin

I don't think I'm getting snappier, but I do think I'm getting less polite because I've got less and less patience. It's like I've lost that filter that stops you saying what you really think; it's quite refreshing, actually Grin Over the weekend within less than 24 hours I told both MIL and SIL to mind their own business - they're both real busy-bodies, and normally I ignore it, but for now I can't. Or I haven't got the energy to ignore it, I don't know. Anyway, with a bit of luck they'll start treading a bit carefully around the scary pregnant lady!

champagne my EDD is actually 9 Feb. I've been a bit confused since you asked but I'm wondering if here in Belgium they maybe count a bit differently. They certainly don't seem to attach much importance to EDD and even to exactly how far along you are (particularly in case like mine where LMP is no use at all, as my cycles were so erratic) - in fact in looking for my EDD I found that the scan results had me at '11+5/7' whereas what I was told was 11+5 (2 weeks ago). So I'm going to take the middle ground, ie 11+6, which puts me at 13+5 today.

You're all making me want to buy maternity clothes! There's no point at the moment really, though (and I don't want to tempt fate). I think I'm showing a bit, but as this is DC1, and as I've lost weight since getting pg through not being able to eat much, I can still get into all my clothes quite easily (even ones that didn't fit me just before pg!) What I do need is a new bra or two as my boobs are huge!

Had my scan... Didn't end up with a full bladder as half way to hospital I had do get oh to pull over to puke... First time this pregnancy, typical!

Baby was being a bugger and was sleeping on its side so had lots of poking to make to move lol. There's definitely a baby in there! I could see its little cute nose!!

I shed a tear hehe :)

Ah lovely lovely scans :)

Am having a horrible morning - puked three times already. I wonder if this is my body punishing me for scarfing pizza and half a tub of Ben and Jerry's last night. Oh it was so tasty though...

Aww lovely to hear about the scans. Smile
Just got back from MW to talk about the old bleed yesterday. She phoned the hospital who said it didn't require a scan and the MW thought it was part of an old hematoma seen at the 7 week scan but not at last weeks. So I'm ok and hopefully baby is too. Btw, my GP/MW no longer check the heartbeat until 26 weeks! Previous pregnancies have been checked at 14-16 weeks. Glad I've bought a doppler off eBay now. I can just panic myself at home with it instead.

Good to hear Thingymajigs. I bloody love my doppler. I force everyone that comes round to have a listen (and have inadvertently shown off my bikini line more times than is decent as a result.)

Great news thingy.

Champagne on the positive side at least you'll be over the HG by then. I've had to cancel one wedding already this summer and am now getting nervous about the one at the end of the summer as sickness seems to have come back in full force - nothing staying down today. Can't decide whether to take cyclizine and nip it in the bud or see if it's just a one off bad day. Ugh.

Been to collect my new Look order (which is FAB by the way, though I've not tried any of it on yet) and just popping through boots on my way back to work happened to notice half price newborn clothes... Baby will have a very well stocked wardrobe by the time it arrives if I carry on at this rate!
