Marking my place on the new thread!
Bit late but to join in with the previous birth experience chat with DD i had what would probably be to most people their worst case scenario: induced at 40+14 (pessary and drip), back to back labour, big baby, failure to progress ending up in an emcs. Just wanted to say that although obviously none of that is ideal, I didn't find it traumatic at all.
Induction - I was very ready for it to happen at that point. I still think they got DD's dates wrong and she was more like 3 weeks late (she was 10lb 10oz so very possible). I was the size of a house and DD was starting to feel less like a baby and more like a parasitic twin
Being induced and DD being back to back apparently means contractions are much more painful than the norm. At this point I have no frame of reference but I found i could cope with it - managed 16 hours of contractions 5 mins apart before having an epidural!
EMCS - I know there are c-sections that are real emergencies but mine wasn't like that. It was emergency more in the sense of 'not planned' than 'baby must be born now!' iyswim. Theatre staff were lovely and chatty and I can't praise them enough.
Also we had the same mw for the last 12 (or more) hours - think she stayed even though her shift had finished. She was fab - bought her a big box of choccies afterwards.
Hope none of that sounds smuggy....just wanted to try and reassure anyone who's concerned about this stuff that it can happen and not be a trauma. I went to nct and they were great for meeting people but i found inductions and csections weren't covered enough or very helpfully/realistically.
