New thread and ever hopeful as we move into second trimester that we'll all feel wonderful soon...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love Jasper (my friend's DS name though so it's out) I also loved Finlay/Fin for years but another mate got in their first too. Grr. Matilda (Tilly) also gorgeous and on our list though I think we're sold on Lyra with Mae for a middle name for a girl now.

I thought I felt baby move last night. Not sure though as I was half asleep (and might have dreamed it) but I was lying on my belly, which is still comfy for me, and felt a sort of... shift? Don't know though. Might have been my guts! Nice. Can't wait until I can feel 'proper' movements! (not from my guts)

Thingymajigs · 14/08/2013 18:42

I like Finlay too but DP is dead against it for some odd reason yet he likes Hector. Hmm Lyra is a beautiful name. Timeless and elegant.

laura0007 · 14/08/2013 18:54

I just had the best nap ever! The best two hours of my life. It was very very overdue! Thought we were meant to be past the napping stage now Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 14/08/2013 19:05

I don't think we every get past the napping stage it's just the napping opportunities are few and far between laura0007!

I'm so sorry about Percy Shropshire....I should have added the caveat that middle names are a 'free pass' and you can do what the feck you like with them. Glad to see you back though! Grin

I really love Penelope/Nell....I can't use it as a friend has a DD called that godammit but I think it's lovely.

I'm off to the Baby & Toddler show in Manchester in September so I'm going to look at 'double' prams then along with every other bit of shite they can sell me

misskatamari · 14/08/2013 19:29

Somany - glad your scan went well!

So exciting that people are starting to feel possible movements! I can't wait for that! I love the name Fin, it's so cute. Not to sure about Hector thingy - for some reason it makes me think of tractors.

Nell and Penelope are lovely names too! Liking Matilda too, so sweet! Dawn I didn't even know about the baby show - I am definitely gonna go! Maybe I'll actually learn about all the baby things I currently have no clue about! Hopefully DH can be persuaded to come along - what man wouldn't wanna go to a place filled with prams and hormonal women! (smile)

vix206 · 14/08/2013 19:34

I actually saw the baby's movements for the first time yesterday Grin I love the movements now but I also dread 32+ weeks where you literally feel like you're being beaten up by the baby!!

17+1

DawnOfTheDee · 14/08/2013 19:40

misskatamari I went to one when i was pg with DD. Found it really helpful as there's loads of stalls from different brands so you can try out a wider range of stuff than you could from going into a shop.

It's best if you do a bit of research on line first so you won't be overwhelmed and you know which stands you want to go to. There's also loads of stuff you don't need so make a shopping list before you go would be my advice. It's mad seeing so many bumps in one place though! Smile

Milkandtwo · 14/08/2013 19:42

Dawn - do you get lots of free stuff? If so, I'm in.

Thingymajigs · 14/08/2013 19:50

Don't worry, there is no way my baby is being called Hector. DP has some really odd ideas sometimes. It's hard keeping a straight face as he gives me suggestions.
I'm actually bored of thinking of names. None have been the one. Although I always go back to Willow for a girl which I forgot to put on my earlier list.

DawnOfTheDee · 14/08/2013 19:52

The one I went to before was called The Baby Show and I remember getting a big bag of free stuff (can't actually remember what or how useful it was now though...)!

The one this year is called The Baby & Toddler Show so i think it might be different company/organiser...lots of the same brands there though so i'm hoping for more freebies!

One good tip is to get prices for big stuff from different traders then see if you can get Mothercare or whoever to price match. You can save a fair bit of money that way.

DawnOfTheDee · 14/08/2013 19:54

I like Willow Thingymajigs but our surname begins with 'W' so it doesn't sound great with it. I think it's a pretty name but also a bit cool & quirky (which is basically what i'm looking for).

misskatamari · 14/08/2013 20:15

Ooooh good tips Dawn thanks! Grin

vix206 · 14/08/2013 20:18

I love Willow too. One of my friends got there first though so if this is a girl I can't use it...

misskatamari · 14/08/2013 21:39

I just got so excited! I'm lying in bed and thought I might actually have felt something happening with baby - ran down to tell DH all in awe. Now I'm back in bed I think I might just have lots of wind in there Hmm stupid wind!

misskatamari · 14/08/2013 21:44

Yep definitely wind! Thank god DH Is still downstairs. Might have to go and find the cat and blame the stench of farts on it! WHY pregnancy! WHY!!!!

gnittinggnome · 14/08/2013 22:06

thingy you can always shorten Genevieve to Gen, which is possibly the least pretentious name ever. And then she can choose which to use as and when :-) but I am biased, as I think it's a very lovely name. Willow too. Have you been looking at my names lists?

jayney86 · 14/08/2013 22:13

Hi struggling to keep up with these threads but had my scan today. Changes due date slightly to 25th feb so I'm 12+ 2 today. All fine and was lovely to see baby wiggling about Grin

Shropshiremummy2bLaFay · 14/08/2013 22:16

So, again to clarify, we're all calling our girls Willow but I'm still the only one with a Percy. Fact.

marzipanned · 14/08/2013 22:24

My daughter's going to be Clara if I can persuade DH. If I have a daughter.

Dawn - other quirky girls' names - Hazel, Clementine (Clemmie), Haven, Adelaide (Ada)... not sure if you'd consider any of those pretty though :) I quite like Hazel but I think it sounds a bit masculine for some reason!?

Loving the name change Shropshire.

laura0007 · 14/08/2013 22:27

Loving the name Shropshire! It suits you!

212VIP · 14/08/2013 22:49

My friend has a Percy.
He's soooo cute and so is the name.

tinypolkadot · 15/08/2013 07:03

Lovely news jayney roll on the 20 week scans!

vix206 · 15/08/2013 07:54

212VIP - how are you feeling?

DS got me up at 0430 with a nightmare and refused to resettle so I'm grumpy and exhausted today Confused

Thingymajigs · 15/08/2013 08:06

Aww, so glad you got to see your little one finally janey.
I possibly have gnittinggnome as I've been on a naming mission since we first started trying early last year. Genevieve is a very new addition though and definitely inspired from MN so it could have been from you. I thought Neve, Evie, Genny, Vivi for nn too. Also love Arthur on your comment further down. But we've decided to put a hold on names until we know if its a boy or a girl.
I'm now imagining a huge popularity spike in Feb for the name Percy. Grin

laura0007 · 15/08/2013 08:10

I once had a car called Percy. He was very reliable..
