OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
misskatamari · 13/08/2013 20:12

I guess as long as people aren't like "that's a shit name what are you thinking you idiot" which I know the lovely ladies on here wouldn't be, then it's good to be pretty honest Smile

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 20:12

It wasn't actually but now you mention it Farquhar wouldn't be my favourite.....

misskatamari · 13/08/2013 20:13

Farquar makes me think of fanny farts!

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 20:15

Ok then .... it was Reacher. Now i'd like to point out that I'm a huge fan of Lee Child's books and Reacher is a fab character but the first thing that popped into my head when I heard it suggested as a name would be the poor kid getting picked on for the whole 'reacharound' connotations. or it may be that i have a mucky mind

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 20:16

Grin @ fanny farts

misskatamari · 13/08/2013 20:19

Lol I've never heard reacharound as a phrase - ill bear it in mind (if he's anything like Reacher tho I don't think the name calling would carry on for long mwahahaha Wink). Don't worry Dawn I'm well aware our current choices are a bit weird! Grin I'm hoping we start liking some more normal names when we do a bit more thinking!

hahaha - reach around and fanny farts (I totally get that now) has just made me laugh a LOT

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 20:33

Well, while we're sharing I really like Elmo for a boy. Am 99% sure it's pregnancy hormones talking but I've almost convinced DH that a) it's really really really cool and b) no-one watches Sesame Street anymore so no-one will make the connection Grin

littlestgirlguide · 13/08/2013 20:36

Lol at Dawn :-)
I love Leo. My much loved and badly missed Grandad was called Leonard, and it would be a slightly more modern way to remember him, but it's yet another name DH hates. His suggestion for a boy? Tyler. Yes you read that right [hmmm]

Please be brutally honest with my name suggestions! I will probably take no notice, but opinions are welcome!

Reacher makes me think of Jack Reacher, in the Lee Child books. He is described as being over 6 foot, muscle bound, ex-military and blonde. Pretty manly if you ask me, I think it passes dawn's 'Percy' test!

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 20:41

Ah shite. Just realised Elmo doesn't pass the 'Percy' test. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

It's difficult because we want something that will 'go' with Melody. If we pick something more traditional it'll totally sound like Melody is our favourite and got the 'cool' name. You know, like "Here are our daughters Melody and Joan" and everyone does sympathetic looks towards Joan.

Zazou1 · 13/08/2013 20:43

Loving all the name sharing.... We only have 1 boy name we agree on but annoyed its so popular- Charlie. Girl wise we have a few more-Amelie, Bella and maybe Jasmine but going off that one now. We can't agree on any others...it was a mission to get him to vaguely agree to Bella which was not as a result of the Twilight books (as loved it before that) which he seems to think!

Mrscookie- feel a bit better after higher odds but still nervy. Keep having to tell myself it's less than 1% but am still worried as want to be prepared as piss if anything IS wrong. consultant says they still consider me to be 'high risk' so having consultant at 20 week scan, which will be nice in one way...,hope your cvs results were good...

Buggy wise, I am literally completely baffled! Really like the Stokke ALOT but not sure I can justify spending that much....not seen any others I like though Smile.

Today I feel like a baby elephant...aargh will be ginormous by feb!

Milkandtwo · 13/08/2013 20:45

DH just looked at me weirdly when I tried to say Elmo out loud in a(n attempt at a) sexy breathy voice.
I just spat my tea out at Melody vs Joan.

Zazou1 · 13/08/2013 20:46

Omg don't know where prepared 'as piss' came from!! Flaming stupid phone!

tinypolkadot · 13/08/2013 20:46

I love Melody dawn such a lovely name, I'm also toying with Melodica - I think it's a musical instrument so not entirely made up!

Although they'd get shortened to Mel which does put me off a bit

marzipanned · 13/08/2013 20:48

Ooh Dawn I don't know I'm sure many women of yesteryear got their corsets in a twist over a Percy. :)

Elmo was one of my nicknames when I was a teenager. I think the Sesame Street connotation is still alive and well, I'm afraid! Btw - you don't live in Deeside do you??

Funnily enough I was at uni with a Gilbert which you wouldn't automatically think would pass the Percy test but he was so sexy that the name became sexy IYSWIM (I think it's quite a sexy name anyway because of Gilbert in Anne of Green Gables... maybe just me though :) )

I'm still waiting to hear Shropshire's offering!!

mrscookie78 · 13/08/2013 20:55

I still haven't got my results, have to wait till Thursday zazou Sad

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 20:59

Nope I'm in Leeds marzipanned! The Dee bit is to do with my RL name (totally outing myself here..!)

I could maybe be convinced of a sexy Gilbert (as can be shortened to Gil) but i refuse to believe a Percy has ever caused anything to be twisted, let alone a corset.

Zazou 'prepared as piss' is my new favourite phrase. I shall attempt to use it this week.

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 21:00

and I have a fab mental image of milkandtwo try to say Elmo quietly yet sexily Grin

Zazou1 · 13/08/2013 21:25

Fingers crossed for Thursday mrscookie, only 1 day to go! It's so horrid waiting but will be thinking positive thoughts for you Smile Flowers

Dawn-ha I'm sure this is what all the kids say these days and I'm just really cool. I too will attempt to utilise - perhaps in the office tomorrow. They'll think I'm mental!

vix206 · 13/08/2013 21:25

I love 'prepared as pissed' too and will do my best to make good use of it :)

bugsyburge · 13/08/2013 22:10

ah it's lovely to hear others name choices.... our top names are poppy & Len. I also love isla, Elijah & Quinn

jazzcat28 · 13/08/2013 22:12

Right the Percy test is officially my new guide to names!

Think mine are ok and pass. Leo is a fab name but I couldn't use it as am a huge silent witness fan and my friends and family would think I was paying homage to Professor Leo Dolton!

laura0007 · 13/08/2013 22:22

The Percy thing is funny....but my boy won't be allowed a girlfriend, no girl will be good enough for him Smile so I never have to consider that!! He will be wearing a chastity belt his whole life Grin

lyndsey90 · 13/08/2013 22:25

Lily for a girl...
