New thread and ever hopeful as we move into second trimester that we'll all feel wonderful soon...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

missk it's a shame you're not in the US, you could definitely get away with Twelve and Reacher there!
I'd probably avoid Twelve since it's sooo open to teasing (imagine when the kids were learning their numbers at school) but I think Reacher is actually quite sweet. Though I do like surnames for first names for boys...I love Callahan as a boy's name, which DH has also vetoed :)

I am terrible at girls' names, there is only one English one that I really like. Lots of French ones but most of them wouldn't sound good unless in a French accent.

misskatamari · 13/08/2013 17:20

Thanks Marzipanned - yeah twelve is a bit much I agree. I am quite fond if Reacher tho Smile we shall see!

Milkandtwo yeah I have cat connotations with Tabitha too. Doesn't help I go by Kat - god well be a right family if I have a Tabbie and a Kit won't we! DH might have to change his name to Lion or something!

I had another go with the doppler but I think it just found my heart beat. I was worried about how loud to turn it too as when you move it it goes waaaay louder and is horrible!

Gosh I am so sick of feeling sick again today! Had a nap which was good but bleurgh! I just wanna sit and puke and cry! My kitchen is a bomb site which I need to clean and then decide what to cook for tea and I just so CBA! Hmm What a moan bag I am today!

Milkandtwo · 13/08/2013 17:38

Misskat HAHA I didn't even think Tabbie and Kit together - then add in Kat... I think it's fecking genius - go for it. And yes - Leo for the next one! I found out I was pregnant the day one of my cats died (yeah, winner of a time to quite smoking and drinking simultaneously) so DH is convinced I'm carrying the reincarnation of little Mogwai and we should name him/her as such. I'm game. Wink

I have my doppler full volume. All the neighbours will have heard it by now. Babies heartbeat is fast so you'll know it apart from your own. You either get one of it's arteries or if you find the heart it sounds like a (rural) train. I can also find the placenta which is a loud swooshing, a bit slower (in time with my heartbeat)

Sorry you're feeling sick, hope you can put your feet up and feel better soon.

I got quite cross with DH today (we both work from home) as he's been doing sweet FA all day, pottering about in his shed and aimlessly internet browsing etc whilst I'm trying to juggle 2 full time jobs simultaneously (whilst being really undisciplined and posting on MN to make my own life harder!) and the house is a mess. I had to ask him to help by hoovering, which pissed me off, and then he did a shit job of it to boot. I'm also starving as the cupboards are bare and I haven't had a chance to go shopping. I normally clean and he cooks but right now he's doing sod all. Get's my goat. Panicking about what it'll be like when we have DC too as we just can't allow the house to get dirty then - and I don't get maternity leave. He'd better step up or I forsee myself losing my shit, if you'll pardon the expression.

Sorry. Rant over! Now back to work for another few hours at least Sad

CubanoHabana · 13/08/2013 17:43

Å´e have been looking at prams today - really liked the stokke xplory's looks but not how easy it was to put down and the functionality of the bugaboo chameleon but not looks of the carrycot... Both are double the amount we planned to spend! Felt really bad for the sales lady as she spent ages with us when we were only looking...

Names wise, for a girl Eleanore, Sophia, Abigail, Isabella, for a boy we are struggling, have more random names, Ayrton, Dastan, Nate, Dante, Xander, Rohan... None of the boys names feel like 'the one' whilst 2 of the girls names I feel are perfect...

CubanoHabana · 13/08/2013 17:45

Also, got 20 week scan appointment letter today! 3 rd October! Must pull my finger out and book 16 week mw appointment tomorrow!

Milkandtwo · 13/08/2013 17:50

I've just realised my 20 week scan is on Friday the 13th. Err...

vix206 · 13/08/2013 18:18

Cubano. We have the Stokke and putting it down is incredibly easy after the first few goesGrin

vix206 · 13/08/2013 18:22

MissK I hope you don't mind me saying but Reacher makes me think of Retcher because quite a few people I know mispronounce retching as reaching (ie I felt sick and I was reaching but nothing happened)

Not sure if that's just me though, with peculiar people around me mispronouncing stuff!!

misskatamari · 13/08/2013 18:31

Lol ill bear that in mind Vix - although maybe it would be fitting after how bloody sick I've been feeling/being Wink

Sassy20 · 13/08/2013 18:41

Well had my 12 week scan this morning and all looking good Smile but obviously got to wait for the bloods. Booked my 20 week scan then which is 1st October!

13 weeks today!

Sassy20 · 13/08/2013 18:43

As for names - dh and I are struggling so far. Everything I like he doesn't and vice versa. All I do know is that if it's a girl it's middle name will be Isabel after my Nana and the middle name of dd. I really like Charlotte for a girl and for a boy no idea!!! I quite like Tabitha I have to say!

vix206 · 13/08/2013 18:50

Haha missK GrinGrinGrin

Milkandtwo · 13/08/2013 18:54

He's redeemed himself by cooking me an enormous mound of pasta. Feel awful for the rant now, what a cow. I blame the hormones.

Milkandtwo · 13/08/2013 18:57

Oh and I love Lyra for a girl. It's the name of a constellation, also from Philip Pullman novels which I love and the name of a piece of circus kit I (used to) use. Also when I came out of my 12 week scan it was written in felt tip in large letters on a whiteboard in a shop window, for no apparent reason, just after we'd been talking about it. Spooky.

LittlePandaBear · 13/08/2013 19:04

I'm another one who loves Leo for a boy - we could have a pride of Leo's at this rate! It was always the 'boy' name if DD had been a boy. I also like Rory (which is also Lion-esque) but DH says it makes him think of a Radish. Rory the Radish. I have no idea what he's on about. There is no Rory the Radish in Mr Bloom!

Girls is more difficult as we've already used our favourite girls name for DD and there were no second choices then. I don't want DD2 to have a second best name. That's if it is another DD!

Roll on the scan....27th Sep. That's AGES away!

misskatamari · 13/08/2013 19:10

Awwww Milkandtwo that's good that he's made pasta! It's great being able to blame the hormones for a good rant Grin Lyra is a lovely name too!

Littlepanda - it's so hard isn't it. Ugh responsibility naming a brand new human!

laura0007 · 13/08/2013 19:12

Feb 2014 could be the month where Leo hits number 1!

Shropshiremummy2b · 13/08/2013 19:33

Now I've built it up, I'm petrified of revealing my name choices! laura you'll feed me to the Leo's lions!

misskatamari · 13/08/2013 19:36

Does anyone have any idea where I can get some wide legged maternity trousers for work? I've had a look on next and they are all quite slim leg, which I never wear. Although I guess the tops that I have been buying so far are quite long and dress like, so maybe I should go for narrower leg ones or i'll look like i'm wearing a series of tents... so hard to know! My room at work is always bloody freezing so need to make sure I can layer up and get some jumpers etc.

Ooooh ASOS have loads of stuff in the sale again. Won't be buying this one tho - looks like the most unflattering sack I have ever laid eyes on! www.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity/ASOS-Maternity-Ovoid-Shift-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=2740293&cid=5813&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Black

laura0007 · 13/08/2013 19:41

Go on Shropshire.... I promise I won't laugh... Too much Wink
I'm guessing now at araminta and Hugo?!

misskatamari · 13/08/2013 19:47

go on Shropshire - they cant be worse than mine! Unless it's Avacado!

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 19:54

Can I ask how honest everyone wants other people to be when they're saying what names they're thinking of?

I know how annoying it can be in RL if you tell someone a name and they kind of put you off it. Don't want to upset anyone!

We're still changing our minds quite a bit but favourite for a girl so far is Stella (our DD is called Melody). Not sure about boys names though.

One piece of advice though ladies - when you're naming a boy please remember that that boy will grow up to be a man. A man who will presumably want to be thought of as desirable by the opposite sex (or indeed the same sex). So...when thinking of names and i know some of you might think this is creepy please consider his name being used in romantic situations.

For example "Take me Percy! Right now you sexy man!". Said no-one. Ever. Grin

*disclaimer: I totally and unreservedly apologise if anyone is married to/is thinking of naming their DS Percy. I just needed something as an example..

laura0007 · 13/08/2013 20:01

Know what you mean dawn but to be fair people can say the names ive chosen are horrible names and I still wouldn't care as I love them Smile
My mum has already said she doesn't like Leo!

DawnOfTheDee · 13/08/2013 20:04

That's ok then Laura0007 Smile Actually i do really, really like Leo and would consider it for a boy but I've got an uncle called Leo who my mum & dad don't talk to anymore so it's off our list!

I wouldn't mind people either it's just a saw one name up thread and really wanted to point something out but don't want to piss anyone off!

Milkandtwo · 13/08/2013 20:06
