As a 2nd timer it's also good to hear all these good stories. Because I am scared witless about giving birth again. It left me with PTSD and I still haven't really dealt with it. Hopefully consultants appt in a couple of weeks will reassure me.

LovesToBake · 09/08/2013 20:22

This thread moves so fast! Off to bed in a minute as knackered e as usual and had a particularly crap day with the puking today but just wanted to report that we had the 12 week scan this morning and it was lovely. There's definitely a wriggly baby in there, such a lovely moment when we first saw it on screen.

Bearfrills · 09/08/2013 20:37

Aw, congrats lovestobake :)

Had my scan this afternoon, lovely wriggly baby doing head stands and waving its arms and legs all over the place, it gave us a good show and they used the HD scanner so we got a crystal clear view. We even got a good look between it's legs and it has a very pronounced/long nub. I went "oh, maybe a boy!" jokingly and the sonographer swung round for another look and made a sort of "hmmm ... mmmm" sound while nodding her head. She did say not to bank on it though and I still reckon its a girl :o

They changed my dates, I thought I wa 11+5 but they've dated me 12+2 so four days ahead, yet I know there is no possible way I got pregnant before 2nd June (you gotta have sex to get pregnant, right?!) so I can't possibly be more than 11+5. She was lovely and explained that they can be out by a few days either side and that some babies are slightly bigger/smaller than others - average size covers a wiiiiiiiide range.

I'm now worried I'm carrying what will eventually be a 10lb giant baby.

So 12+2 today and chuffed to bits :)

littlestgirlguide · 09/08/2013 20:39

petty that's exactly what I do to poor DH, he says I'm like a superheated straight jacket!

Blush I have succumbed to a (very small) glass of red wine. DH convinced me I wont give the baby fetal alcohol syndrome with one tiny glass (tell me he's right!) and it's sooooooo good! Blush

laura0007 · 09/08/2013 21:08

Littlest I have had a couple of glasses (not on the same night) purely based on the fact that I think my body will go into shock if it is not allowed alcohol for another 5.5 months!! Smile
I've convinced myself the baby will be fine!

barebranches · 09/08/2013 21:09

my midwife said one glass of wine a week is fine.
I havent yet... but sooo tempted!Grin

Milkandtwo · 09/08/2013 21:10

littlest I'm enjoying one right now and guilt free too! With a massive pile of dinner and a pint of water, mind... It's doing wonders for my relaxation so I figure it's medicinal!

Timpani · 09/08/2013 21:19

Personally I won't touch alcohol at all but then I'm not a big drinker anyway. Happily slurping my shloer!

Milkandtwo · 09/08/2013 21:26

I work in the drinks industry and am currebtly sat next to my very large and very well stocked cocktail cabinet. My weekly thimble of wine makes that torture of walking past it several times daily that bit easier to bear. I was promised by so many people that I 'wouldn't even want the things that are bad for you' and that I'd 'probably be repulsed by them'
Lies. I could murder an espresso martini and a Marlboro light.

pettyprudence · 09/08/2013 21:28

I had a mojito to celebrate sharing news of dc2 with my dm and dsis Grin

sunflowered · 09/08/2013 21:29

Can you all shout that in my DH's direction? He's got it into his head that even a sip of wine is going to hurt the little bean and won't let me forget it. Haven't touched a drop for weeks! I'm not really missing it to be fair, alcohol and tea have gone from being a core part of my diet to making me feel rough even thinking about them.

Finally got my scan date - 22nd August. They reminded me again how busy they are and how they've done me a favour to squeeze me in (at 14+1...) It's another chance to see it though, and hopefully by that point there should be a lot of it to see Smile

misskatamari · 09/08/2013 21:33

I've had a half larger shandy when out for meals recently - it's about 1/2 a unit in one so feel okay having one with a meal. Mmmmm miss the taste of yummy beer!

laura0007 · 09/08/2013 21:49

Me too! I'm starting to feel I was practically an alcoholic before I got pregnant! I'm missing my daily weekly bottle of wine so much!

littlestgirlguide · 09/08/2013 21:54

I'm not a massive drinker to be fair. I am used to relaxing on a Friday and/or. Saturday night with one glass of wine, and I really miss it! Also my glasses are tiny - on slimming world a small glass is 4 syns, and I measured my glasses and they are worth 3 syns each. So pretty small! If I'm not drinking (say if DH has finished the bottle before I get to it?) then I would normally have a cup of tea, but I'm totally off tea as well (Urgh, milk, just can't bring myself to want it) so I'm left with fizzy pop.

Zazou1 · 09/08/2013 22:20

Gosh this thread moves fast!

Had a busy week in the end since got the NT/blood results. Was stressing about having cvs/amnio and so ended up going to fetal medicine clinic to have more detailed test where they check more markers. Had to pay but it was worth it. Odds went up to 1/345 which is better....still nervy though and considering having this harmony test... Hope all went ok with you mrscookie?

I literally can't fit into any clothes and maternity clothes are too big! I have cramps too and have done throughout really...used to them now and think they are just stretching pains Smile

Thank The Lord it's Friday Smile happy weekend ladies x

I'm getting so frustrated. I'm getting recurring thrush and It's killing me!! I can't have sex because it stings so freaking bad!!! Ugggh I wanna cry :'(

Milkandtwo · 09/08/2013 22:41

Oh lyndsey how awful, sending you a virtual hug x

lyndsey90 · 09/08/2013 22:49

Thanks milk unfortunately that's all OH can give me too! Well, a real one but still. Having to make sure I don't leave him frustrated cause its not his fault I'm out of action! (Well I suppose it half is lol)

laura0007 · 09/08/2013 23:29

Oh no Lyndsey, hope you're feeling better soon.

Zazou I'm with you on the cramps! I'm 14+4 and I've had them throughout too although they mainly start at night when I'm just getting in to bed. Only last a couple of minutes though.

CubanoHabana · 09/08/2013 23:40

Ah!went to dentist today - as seen as its free... Just supposed to be a check up but found I have some gum disease and needed 2 fillings. Had 1 filling today and needed 6 needles in mouth due to extent of drilling needed. Dentist still didn't manage to get it all done, so temporary in and will get redone once baby here... Got next filling in 2 weeks, hopefully not as bad!

CubanoHabana · 10/08/2013 00:23

Also, been given our first baby clothes as gifts, they are brand new (and I know it's a long way off) but should they be washed before baby wears them?

Sounds really tight but was thinking if I didn't wash them and they were the wrong size,I would be able to exchange them for a different size but obviously wouldd do whatever would be best for baby...

Timpani · 10/08/2013 06:45

I would wash all clothes bought for baby (well I did last time!). This is due to DS1 reacting to some detergents plus babies have such delicate skin. Now he's older I don't because I usually put a washed vest underneath anyway.

So tied. Wish I could sleep in. Last time I slept round the clock but now it's impossible. Currently have a toddler jumping on me! Need sleep!

jazzcat28 · 10/08/2013 07:23

Morning all! Difficult to catch up with this thread, we are a chatty lot!

Had NHS scan yesterday, mum came with me. Very wriggly wavey arms baby so very happy. They changed my dd to 16/02 so three days earlier than the private scan and midwife which means I'm 12+6 today.

After went to take mum round a few baby shops. Kinda fallen in love with a bugaboo chameleon - she and dad are paying and she thinks it's ok budget wise but I feel bad already! Also bought a gorgeous pram suit thing and a cute neutralnewborn set from John Lewis.

Am thinking more and more that I don't want to know the sex as its gonna be the best surprise ever! Just thinking of DH ringing everyone after the birth announcing the news is already bringing a tear to my eye.

Off to pick up a huge new look maternity order today including jeans which I cant wait to get on!

12+6

Thingymajigs · 10/08/2013 07:37

I'm with you on being tired. I no longer need to get up 4 times in the night to wee (just once) but now Restless Leg Syndrome has taken over. In previous pregnancies I did suffer with this but not until the later stages.
Anyway, wedding today. I seem to have popped overnight so I'm going to look like a right fatty in my dress. I suspect I'll spend a lot of time obviously rubbing my little bump so no one is in any doubt if I'm pregnant or not. Grin
I don't think I look properly pregnant yet though, just a more prominent tummy. I've filled out loads in the boob and bum area so I'm actually getting more second looks from men. Pity this is only temporary because I will miss these boobs afterwards. At least it shows that I look better with a few more pounds on my frame.
Can anyone recommend a really comfy bra for night time use?
