New thread and ever hopeful as we move into second trimester that we'll all feel wonderful soon...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Aww its so nice seeing their little arms and legs wiggling about isn't it? Our LO was doing a frog movement with his legs. Future swimmer no doubt.
I love the look of the Chameleon too but it is so pricey. Its not easy asking the in laws for the pushchair even when they really want to pay. Dp's parents want to pay but seemed to be under the impression they were still around £200. So its been very awkward. Not looking forward to that future discussion.

To make all you would-be drinkers feel better, the advice here in Belgium is different, as are social attitudes to pregnant women drinking. Come to think of it, nobody's said a thing to me about alcohol, but the general line is that in moderation it's fine. Obviously that's open to interpretation, but in my case it's irrelevant as I've gone off it completely. The only thing I fancy drinking is champagne, and not very often at that (3 glasses since 17th June). We went out for dinner the other night and I had alcohol-free beer, which tasted fine and did make a nice change from fizzy water.

More relaxed Belgian attitudes are all very well, but I did get quite annoyed yesterday, at lunch with DH and his cousin, when the cousin kept trying to push alcohol on me, telling me that I was being ridiculous and that moderate drinking does no harm, and trying to order drinks for me Confused

Timpani · 10/08/2013 08:01

We are looking at doubles and it's so hard :(

Anyone else with DC in nappies struggling? My DS's nappies make me throw up or almost and DH is getting fed up of being the poo changer! I just can't do it because I feel so sick. Obviously I do when he's not there but we're off work together so he's doing it all. Couldn't even face breakfast this morning so a nappy on top of that almost tipped me over the edge.

15 weeks today! I was bigger at this point last time. I easily pass for not pregnant! I may even decide not to tell people at work til 20 weeks if I can get away with it by then.

Sassy20 · 10/08/2013 08:45

Timpani - I have a dd in nappies but surprisingly whilst the smell of some food makes me gag her nappies are fine!!!

Another one woken up early by dd - 6.30 and she was standing outside the bedroom door. Luckily dh off today so I entertained her till 8.30 and he's now got up with her while I go back to bed Grin

Bearfrills · 10/08/2013 09:17

DD is still is nappies and I'm fine with them in the house but public baby changing rooms make me gag so DH or my mam are doing all the out-and-about changes (unless we go to M&S, their changing room always smells fresh). Making breakfast for the kids makes me gag too so DH does that on his days off and I just have to get on with it during the week.

bugsyburge · 10/08/2013 09:17

congratulations thingy, I hope you have a fabulous day xx

Shropshiremummy2b · 10/08/2013 09:20

Thingymajigs I bought some crop tops from M&S for sleeping in. They are a revalation, I miss being 12 years old!

bugsyburge · 10/08/2013 09:27

I'm going to test drive prams today, very excited!!!! I liked the look of the bugaboo but I trapped my finger in it (twice) so I think its a sign its not for me... does anyone have first hand experience of the I candy? in particular the peach jogger?

Thingymajigs · 10/08/2013 09:33

Thanks shropshire I'll take a look in there once I get back off holiday.
Oh no sorry, not my wedding. Wasn't clear, its just a friends wedding. DP is still yet to propose although he keeps hinting at it irritatingly.

212VIP · 10/08/2013 09:56

timpani I was exactly the same as you. Had only 16 months between first two DC's do nappies and subsequently even the smell of pampers scented wipes made me gag. After a couple of years of non-scented use the association has finally worn off!

I now can't eat Subway any more because that reminds me of feeling sick :(

timpani I had the icandy peach blossom and bloody loved it. Baby sits in maxi cosi for first few months (facing you) and toddler looks out on the world. The double is great too. Two proper seats rather than the 'swing' type alternative.

bugsy as above can thoroughly recommend icandy as a make (sturdy, easy to use, good quality, great design) but not seen the jogger you mention.

Feeling tired today but no nausea yet at least.

14+2

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 10:01

Ooooh have fun with the prams bugsy! I have no clue about them still but my friend did email me about the icandy apple 2 yesterday - apparently they have it on offer until December or £595 with loads if bits and bobs. I have no idea if a) it's a good pram or b) that's a good offer but thought I'd mention it!

Just ordered myself some pregnancy exercise DVDs yaaaaaaay! Don't know if ill be arsed to drag myself back to the gym in the near future as still feeling a bit crappy at the moment but hopefully if I have something here I will do a bit!

Think my plans for today and going to hopefully involve making lentil soup from my mums recipe which is just amazing (I will just eat it all day and can't wait!). Also want to start tidying "the office" (second bedroom - babies room) as every available surface is covered in crap plus the floor is covered with boxes of hundreds of CDs which DH tells me I must rip to my computer and get rid of as I never listen to them and they take up so much space in the basement. Hoping I find some motivation as yesterday I barely moved from the sofa playing pikmin3 on the wiiU. Yes I am 30 honestly!! Grin

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 10:04

212 that's good to know about the peach blossom.

I'm so unsure about prams as we are hoping to have babies quite close together. However obviously there is no way of knowing if we will actually feel like that or if it will happen that way. Really unsure whether to try and go for a pram which does convert to a double just incase or if it is silly to limit our options on a "what if"

vix206 · 10/08/2013 10:49

Thingy I second the idea of crop tops for sleep bras. I am a 32 FF at the moment and I'm sleeping in asda crop tops. £6 each (think they're called soft & comfy or similar). I went for large and they fit perfectly. Smile

laura0007 · 10/08/2013 10:55

Bugsy I'm after the peach jogger too! Nearest place they sell it to me is John Lewis at Nottingham though which is about an hour and a half away! So hopefully going to do the testing and buying on the same day after my 20 week scan on the 17th September! Grin

212VIP · 10/08/2013 11:21

misskatamari I made the mistake of NOT thinking ahead to no.2.
I had. Quinny Buzz and bloody loved it. Then when DS was six months old and realised wed need a double I was gutted to sell it.
But the icandy peach blossom is brilliant.
It's almost exactly the same as a Quinny in single mode (quinny didnt have a double then - 4 years ago) but also has the second seat/maxi cosi adapters if you did need a double.
I didn't think I'd love anything as much as my Quinny but they're very similar. Only plus I would say is the brake on the Quinny was rubbish but the icandy was very solid and sure.

marzipanned · 10/08/2013 12:17

Lovely to hear scan news.

My friend has a theory that babies who are active at scan are boys and babies who are chilled at scan are girls... any truth in that?!

I am completely off booze - DH had a glass of wine with dinner last night and just the smell of it was toxic. Would love someone on hand to make me virgin mojitos though :)

One thing I'm confused about with prams where the baby sits in a maxi cosi - I thought you were only meant to keep them in a car seat for a couple of hours at a time? Don't they need to be lying flat when they're newborn?

vix206 · 10/08/2013 12:33

Oh I like that theory! DS was mental at both scans (as in full of beans). This one would not wake up!! I'd love one of each I must admit Grin

jazzcat28 · 10/08/2013 12:43

For those of you who already have DC, can I ask just how much clothing etc you actually bought yourselves? And what sizes? Now I have broken my baby shopping virginity I'm at danger of going bananas, but because we're not finding out the sex am sticking to neutrals. Did you get inundated with clothes as gifts? Should I just buy a few basics to get me through the first week or so?

Shropshiremummy2b · 10/08/2013 12:53

Misskat my sister bought the icandy apple jogger with the intention of turning it into a pear if needs be. Having used hers and my best friends Bugaboo Chameleon I am defs going for the Apple.

marzipanned I heard the same thing about only a couple of hrs at a time in the maxicosi........

Laura my 20 week is on the 15th! Eeeek thats only a month(ish) away! And then you'll know what youre having!! Soooo wierd! I'm not allowed to find out, but am secretly hoping the wriggly baby theory is true and it's a boy...... If I was only having one baby (which I havent ruled out) i'd choose a girl, but coming from 3 girls I always wanted an older brother so hopefully it will work out well. That or I get three boys (my nightmare!)

Im still secretly miffed im not having twins (there are a few in our family), maybe at the 20 week scan they'll find another one. Fingers crossed the Shrewsbury Sonographers are shit at their job!

littlestgirlguide · 10/08/2013 13:51

You are supposed to only keep them in the car seat for a couple of hours (any car seat, not just the maxi cosi) but you can buy car seats which are lie flat, I think Jane do one, though I'm not sure how good they are. I would recommend a carrycot. I've got a Dreami carrycot, which fits on the same pram adapters as the car seat, so I just transferred DD into that. Also used it as a travel cot for the first 3 months or so, it was brilliant. I'm out at the Shrewsbury Flower Show today (currently on my phone waiting for Paul Hollywood to do his thing!) and have been buggy spotting! I do really like the Peach jogger, seen a couple today, but I am put off by the seat being really small. I can't see a 3 year old fitting in it comfortably, one of the things I loved about my Speedi I had for DD was that it was spacious enough to not need a new buggy as she got bigger.

laura0007 · 10/08/2013 14:14

Lol Shropshire don't say that! They might find two, three or more! Grin
I can't wait to find out what I'm having. I'm convinced its a boy and secretly would prefer a boy I think, but that's only because I'm so convinced! Here's where we find out my maternal instinct is shit and its going to be the pinkest, fluffiest girl ever!
My Doppler arrived this morning but all I can hear is swishy sounds (that sounds like the cup of coffee i just had!) I have no idea where to search so I gave it up for another week or so when baby is bigger.

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 14:14

Gosh I really need to do some pram research. I have no idea what a maxicosi is! There seems to be so much stuff that comes with a pram for different scenarios and I'm just befuddled! Need to go into mothercare I think and just be like "explain prams!" Hopefully a wise assistant will demo it all for me and ill have some sort of clue about it all!

laura0007 · 10/08/2013 14:15

Ooh tiny that is exciting!!! Now you just need a baby to put in it! Grin

tinypolkadot · 10/08/2013 14:23

Lol, I know. Possibly a bit early to be buying a cot but I think we need to spread the cost where we can. Dh is obsessed with his 'Hot UK deals' bless him, he's more on the ball than me! Grin
