Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Hooray Badguider!

Arf @ Lotsa Grin

frogchops · 27/08/2013 18:13

Flo, put antenatal woman shared that little gem about breast milk on nipples too
Triple I wil most def not be sharing this little nugget of info with DP I'd rather be pregnant at Xmas still! The bloody raspberry leaf tea is hardly the blissful twinnings experience I was hoping for so that yak is certainly out of the question! Shock Indeed to the repeats for a couple of hours! Grim!

Manoodledo · 27/08/2013 18:20

Yay Badguider! Bet it won't be long. When DS2 was born I went to see the midwife and she was perplexed that he wasn't even engaged, unless he was so far down that what she was feeling was his shoulders she said. I went into labour 15 minutes after I arrived home!

Readytosettle · 27/08/2013 18:28

Good news badguider...had a feeling ur mw was being a little over-cautious!

frog I've ordered raspberry leaf capsules from amazon...should save forcing back endless cups of manly tea...

Readytosettle · 27/08/2013 18:29

Oops...that was meant to say manky tea!

None of the manly stuff will be passing my lips any time soon...

RunningBear78 · 27/08/2013 18:48

Hooray badguider glad your bub has a head after all! You must be pleased to know he's in place ready for action. Cripes Manoodle that must have been quite alarming! Did you go straight back to the midwife?

Hmm ... can't think of anything worse to ingest at the moment than man ick. Possibly marmite ... bit it would be a close run thing.

Oh wee that sounds awful, I hope they can find out what is wrong quickly. At least she is being looked after, hope you can get home soon Flowers

I booked an appointment to see an aromatherapist/midwife on Monday. Alarmingly she finished the phone call with 'if your baby arrives before hand just let me know, it isn't a problem' eek!! Think it has really just sunk in that we might have a baby any day now. Panicking only ever so slightly and making sure dh and I enjoy every minute we are together, alone.

HettySunshine · 27/08/2013 18:53

So pleased to hear all is well badguider. It sounds like you might not have too much longer to wait!

DP and I had a very enjoyable trip to the Trafford Centre today. We didn't have much we needed to get so we just mosied around and bought a couple of bits from John Lewis with the vouchers I got from my lovely colleagues last week.

We bought a baby box which I have already loaded up and tucked away in the corner of the living room. I've put in some nappies, nappy sacks, cotton wool, wipes, muslins, vests and babygros. Will I need anything else downstairs on day one do you think?

I'm running out of things to do! Can't WAIT for Littley to arrive now (but I do want to wait until 1 September though!). 37+4 today. Smile

HettySunshine · 27/08/2013 19:02

Oh and I'm sorry to hear Freya needs a little help Weebarra. I hope everything is fine and you both get to go home really soon. X

Manoodledo · 27/08/2013 19:10

Running I didn't go back to the same midwife as it was the community one, went to the hospital.

Turns out MIL has only the vaguest idea of when my due date is. She thought it was quite a few weeks off yet rather than 5 days away. I'm not terribly surprised really. I guess they haven't been sat by the phone waiting for the announcement then. Poor third babies (will be 6th grandchild for them.)

DH has come home today saying he's really stressed out about the labour. Poor DH, he hates hospitals and is very squeamish. He did very well at the previous two labours. I'm trying to be sympathetic. I don't think I'd actually like to be witnessing it. I told him I'd try to make it quick for him! I would like him to be there from a support point of view. I'm sure my mum would be delighted if I asked her to come instead, me less so Grin.

Manoodledo · 27/08/2013 19:11

Weebarra sorry to hear Freya is back in hospital. Hope she's back home soon.

SGJ · 27/08/2013 19:48

My DH rang to tell me today that he'll take his mobile in to any meetings this week, as a colleague (a female one, I suspect) had to gently remind him that as I'm due TOMORROW, maybe he ought to be contactable??!!!

Hetty - I had hand sanitiser in the baby bag/box (for making sure that the delightfully black/green/yellow poos are thoroughly washed off your hands) plus socks and mittens, I think, as I could never be arsed to run upstairs to get spare ones if needed. Have you got a little portable changing mat in there too? You may want to protect your living room floor!

Dorita75 · 27/08/2013 20:01

Manoodledo what happened with your SIL? I ask because I've got a scan tomorrow to check my level of amniotic fluid. If it's low I may have to be induced. I don't know much about it, how much if affects the baby if it's been low for a few weeks.

Hope you and Freya get well soon Weebara

Manoodledo · 27/08/2013 20:11

Dorita my SIL was induced a bit early (can't remember how many weeks she was) and the baby was small (5 pounds something) but otherwise fine. Hope scan is ok tomorrow.

frogchops · 27/08/2013 20:22

I think I'm actually beginning to like/tolerate raspberry leaf tea! Hoorah.
Ion I'm watching last weeks episode of midwives....Blush And clearly crying 3 minutes in Confused

badguider · 27/08/2013 20:36

In frivolous and unimportant news, I have finally decided which sling I want to buy. It's a close caboo. Saw my friend using it today with her 2wo and it's exactly what i'm looking for.

So..... new ones cost around £50 up to £56... second hand on ebay how much would you bid? (it's fabric so totally washable and also very hardwearing so they should all be fine condition).

frogchops · 27/08/2013 20:59

The one I wanted was £55 In mamas and papas and I paid £10 on eBay although it had £5 postage. However I would've got away with paying less but DP bid for it too not realising we were bidding against each other!!

badguider · 27/08/2013 21:10

Oh wow!!
Unfortunately the ones i've seen of the sling i'm after have a minimum of 20 and going up from there Sad

Dorita75 · 27/08/2013 21:19

Thanks manoodledo.

My friend got a sling in TK Maxx so I'm going to have a look tomorrow. If there isn't one I'll be ebaying too.

RunningBear78 · 27/08/2013 21:27

My general rule with eBay is not to spend much more than 50% of the new cost. It can be easy to get carried away. It is worth checking how much previous ones have sold for. I guess with some of the slings, some of the patterns and fabrics vary so if there is something particularly pretty or in a specific colour you like but can't get new it might be worth a bit more to you. Unfortunately I found a gorgeous new red and black Mai tei which dh is in love with and the only versions I have found on eBay are revolting pink! I'm going to see if the local sling library group has one to try before I splash out that much cash.

kipsonline · 27/08/2013 21:32

Ooh so much news, too much to remember in my sleep deprived state, I shall try my best ;)

Congratulations jenni so pleased to hear your handsome little man is finally here

And pleased the scan showed the right position badguider

I'm really sorry to hear Freya has been back in hospital wee and hope it's all sorted soon, that sounds horrid

Loving the dtd debate. I have to say, it has worked for us all 3 times!

Fraser had his first photoshoot today at 11 days old, I inadvisedly purchased a groupon deal that needed to be used within a baby's first 14 days. It involved spending 2 hours in a sweltering studio with a naked wriggly baby, who was supposed to be curled up cutely sleeping but was far too nosey for that and spent the whole time staring at the photographer and flailing his arms and legs around, with all of his boy bits proudly on display ;) oh, and he managed an incredible 6 projectile wees and a really splatty poo on a lovely fluffy blanket. Gulp. I feel like I need to buy a large canvas to make amends (but am on mat leave so clearly will just be choosing my 2 free prints...the guilt!!!!)

kimjayne · 27/08/2013 21:38

Oh god, Frogchops I cried at least 3-4 times watching last weeks Midwives! I've recorded this weeks so I can fast forward if needed!

Could somebody warn me if there are any sad/emotional bits this week! Just a gentle warning would be much appreciated :) x

frogchops · 27/08/2013 21:43

Am watching that one now Kim....will let you know!

PurplePoppySeed · 27/08/2013 22:05

Wow, lots of lovely news while I was away camping over the weekend. Congratulations to everyone who gave birth over the weekend xx

wee sorry to hear Freya is back in hospital, hope they get to the bottom of whatever's causing her sleepiness Flowers

I'm also meant to be reading Juju Sundin's birth skills book, have managed the first section, but want to finish my terry pratchett fiction book first. Stupid really, but I think I must still be in denial :)

Got all my final bits and bobs bought this morning and met with lovely mumsnet ladies this afternoon, so I'm really hoping to get a few more days in like this before baby arrives.

CharlW1 · 28/08/2013 02:00

Currently wide awake in a fair bit of pain so hoping everything is moving in the right direction and when this pessary is taken out tomorrow that I am actually dilated! So far the TENs machine is working wonders at taking my mind off the pain and as all my pain is at the front of my bump then the heat pads I bought have been a god send!

LotsaTuddles · 28/08/2013 06:15

I'm quite painful today too. Have had a really sore back all night and really disturbed sleep (spent more of the night laying awake than usual) and the fact that I feel like I need to poo but don't (sorry TMI) is making me hopeful that the baby's coming soon Grin and if it isn't, I'm going shopping for bits for our new house today, so hopefully the walking round will help
