Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

I can't believe how many of you are DTD to try to get things going - are your bits not a bit... well... tender? Mine are quite swollen and delicate (maybe he is fully engaged afterall?)

Manoodledo · 27/08/2013 10:04

Badguider yes to swollen and tender but needs mustGrin. I've moved over the outoutout camp.

Manoodledo · 27/08/2013 10:06

Goodluck with your scan btw badguider. Fingers crossed the midwife is wrong and baby is exactly where he should be.

fl0b0t · 27/08/2013 10:11

kimjayne sounds annoying, I'm trying to prepare myself for potentially being off on mat leave for 5 weeks before baby arrives.

I also cannot believe anyone is dtd as I'm not sure we have tried since about wk 20 as we both got weirded out! Bump got in the way!

Although I would have put money on my maternity cover calling me on Friday, she dint. But she did text me on my weekend away, I saw her yesterday and we talked work and she wants to call me today. I'm out this arvo meeting mums net ladies and she seems a bit put out! Not sure the is how it works!

cheese I've been told cabbage leaves in your bra can be nice and soothing?

Readytosettle · 27/08/2013 10:33

Was out with a mum friend yesterday & her Nct instructor told them to dtd twice a day (preferably more) to give the best chance of success....cue horrified look from me!

I didn't go into the question of how many times she'd managed, but she did give birth at 38+5....

Maybe once I'm off on mat leave I'll have more energy for it....once a week is about all I can manage at the mo!

frogchops · 27/08/2013 10:44

I can't contemplate all this Dtd either!! We haven't done it since about 6/7 weeks! DP was weirded out and I got big really quickly (was full on showing by 10-12 weeks Blush) growth slowed down as time went on but I feel way too uncomfortable, its a mission to just turn over in bed and baby wriggles ALL night.

Mooster1709 · 27/08/2013 10:53

Congratulations Jenni! Hope labour all went well in the end.

also fed up with mat leave, even though not officially on it but 'working from home'. Too distracted to actually work, but too knackered to do anything else. Might try to make a cake today to have in the freezer - any ideas for cake that freezes well?

fl0b0t · 27/08/2013 11:00

Anyone know of any nipple creams without lanolin in? The midwife just suggested that breast milk is the best fix for sore and cracked nipples- ie squeeze some out and spread it around on them! Yum!

manoo that makes sense. I was just asking because my MW didn't say anything about inducing me. She did say that she thinks I might not have a lot of waters though.

We haven't DTD every night, just as often as we can

Joskar · 27/08/2013 11:23

Hurrah for Jennimoo! At last! You must be so chuffed. How's the SPD?

Mooster sponge cake freezes grand. Weigh the eggs and whatever they weigh use the same amount of sugar, butter/marg, SR flour plus a tsp of baking powder. Cream the sugar and butter, add the eggs one at a time, sift in the flour and bp. Bake for 25 mins at 160 fan in two small cake pans. I have a totally awesome recipe for chocolate cake that stays moist for quite a few days but I've never frozen it because DH always eats it. Happy to share if you wish.

I also have elephantitis of the feet. It has brought on tarsal tunnel. Very painful as well as unsightly. I want my damn body back!

flipflump · 27/08/2013 11:44

So glad there are others unable to consider DTD, was beginning to think DH and I were the only ones. I just can't face it and agree with Badguider, it's all a bit tender. DH is freaked out by the thought of it and monster bump gets in the way - bit of a turn off!!

jennimoo · 27/08/2013 11:45

Joskar - SPD was much better the week before the birth and I felt fine yesterday despite getting in all the 'wrong' positions.

It was a bit of a slog to keep contractions going yesterday afternoon (was sent home from hospital the first time) but they were surprised to find I was 5-6cm when I went back in and I think only had g&a for about the last hour. And was only in the pool 20 mins. My waters broke 10-15mins after I got in and he came flying out rather fast after that! Didn't deliver placenta in pool but managed to get out with cord still attached.

I'm now exhausted. DD is at childminder while DH, DS (first time I've used that one!) and the cat snooze. And I'm wide awake...

TripleRock · 27/08/2013 11:59

Don't think we will be DTD 'properly' now, just can't see how any actual PIV would even work without being incredibly sore and SPD doesn't help either!

Besides, «whispers» oral is more effective if you ahem, swallow. How much of that info you wish to inform your DHs and DPs is up to you!

weebarra · 27/08/2013 12:35

Congratulations to everyone who's had their babies since i was last on!
Freya and I are in our local children's hospital, been in since yesterday when the midwife was concerned about her blue hands and feet (esp as her big bro has a heart condition). She was also really sleepy.
They still haven't really worked out whats wrong, but a combination of too many red blood cell and jaundice they think.
It's been pretty horrible as they had to cannulate her and put in a ng feeding tube. I've been expressing loads too. Hope they'll let us out tomorrow.

flipflump · 27/08/2013 12:55

Sorry to hear that Barra, sounds like Freya is being well looked after and they'll do all they can. Poor little mite!! Hope it's nothing too serious and you can go back home soon.

flipflump · 27/08/2013 12:55

Did my DH pay you to say that, Triple?

Readytosettle · 27/08/2013 13:01

Triple not only can I not imagine a position where oral would be comfortable....but just about everything I consume repeats on me for a good couple of hours afterwards at the moment Shock

TripleRock · 27/08/2013 13:05

Gosh Weebarra, I hope they get to the bottom of things and you are able to go home soon. Thinking of you.

Indeed Flip there were a few eager looking male faces when the MW chose to share that little gem at antenatal classes when I was preg with DD!

TripleRock · 27/08/2013 13:09

Xpost Ready Grin Yes, how very unpleasant... Think I'd rather go overdue Grin

EmmaDee · 27/08/2013 13:34

Hi all. Barra I hope they het it sorted soon, your in the best place.

Quick question, I woke up last night with a crazy pain ad if someone was stabbing me with a knitting needle below my bump on the right side, it went away after 5 Mims but it was really sore, anyone else had this?

Mooster1709 · 27/08/2013 14:38

Oh weebarra how horrible for you. I hope everything's ok.

fl0bot someone suggested something from Lush to me that was lanolin free - can't remember what it was called but probably the only balm they sell. Might be worth a try?

Thanks for the recipe joskar and I meant to say earlier: poor you with tarsal tunnel. Didn't even know such a thing existed, and sounds miserable.

LotsaTuddles · 27/08/2013 15:33

Sorry readytosettle but the Shock face at the end of your post is most appropriate Grin

badguider · 27/08/2013 15:43

Back from presentation scan...

Pleased to say that my baby's head has been found!! - It's inside my pelvis, so far down that it can't be felt at all. I am not sure what that means in terms of fifths engaged but basically the bit at the very bottom of my bump is his shoulder!

Very unlikely he'll shift from there now except to move down and out! Shock Grin

flipflump · 27/08/2013 16:18

Brilliant news Badguider!! Sounds like it won't be long until its your turn Grin
