Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Jenni I only noticed last night by touch and was too tired to try to find a mirror...! I may investigate further this evening but I am not promising anything !!

andadietcoke · 25/08/2013 19:32

Thank you! I rang mat triage and they told me to take paracetamol which seems to have calmed things down for now so will just have to see how it goes. I have a hospital appt at 10.30 tomorrow anyway!

SGJ · 25/08/2013 20:32

Rake, that's brilliant, both visually and biologically! I've been conscious of that veeeery gradually happening over the course of this whole pregnancy, so the cows (and your dad) could well be on to something! (In case you were wondering, I assumed you'd got the runs. Also a pleasant visual)

I too am keen to hang on until the new school year, with each day closer we get to September 1st. Now having typed this, it'll be just my luck that I'll give birth on August 31st!

LotsaTuddles · 25/08/2013 22:42

I'm in the out out out club too!

I just have to ask, is the cut off date for schools the 31st August or is it some random date in August?

When I was at school, it was 31st as there was someone who's birthday was the 31st August and someone else who was 1st September.

Wincher · 25/08/2013 22:54

I think I want to hang on till the new school year, but I am conscious that it's a year extra childcare, and I know some nearly 4 year olds now who are more than ready to go to school with their friends who have just turned 4. Mind you I can't quite imagine my just turned 3 year old going off to school this time next year... The cut off is definitely 31 August at midnight. It's my birthday this week and I was always the youngest in the year. Though I think there used to be scope for children born around this time to go up or down a year as appropriate - apparently there isn't any more.

So a week from today would do me nicely! But I won't complain if it arrives before then... mind you I don't really want to share my birthday.

Joskar · 25/08/2013 23:23

The school dates thing in England is so crazy! It should be about how ready the child is not a date. So stupid. It ought to be more flexible. It certainly is in Scotland.

So exciting about all the babies coming. I really must pack my bags. Only 2 1/2 weeks til my EDD. Think DH is starting to get a bit freaked out!

fl0b0t · 25/08/2013 23:26

Hi all, sounds like there is lots go ing on! No idea what is happening here. ... wish it felt more like what you lot are describing. Baby has been very active this evening and I've had what I can only describe as terrible indigestion like pains top of bump. They are pretty constant rather than in waves like I would imagine contractions to be. At a posh hotel with no paracetamol do spent the last hour on hands and knees with husband massaging my back and am now in a hot bath (must not drop new mobile). Anyone had anything like this? almost feels like a good fart might fix it but one isn't forthcoming. Tried gaviscon as that was all we had to hand. Seriously very painful and bump does seem to be quite tight but not all over. The very top is still quite squishy.

I had a worrying time earlier- realised I hadn't felt the baby move for at least an hour, and when I prodded and poked at it, it still didn't move. I'm at my mum's too, and DP is away for the weekend visiting friends, so we're hundreds of miles apart!

I did a quick panic, a quick pace then tried the age old method of eating a Snickers bar. 30 seconds later baby is dancing like there's no tomorrow. 5 hours later, and its still dancing.

I know I'm being neurotic but my sister had a stillbirth with no obvious reason- baby died a few days pre-labour, and it makes me anxious that the same could happen to me. My poor blob gets poked quite unceremoniously, and frequently. To be fair, it pokes me back pretty hard too.

RunningBear78 · 26/08/2013 03:17

rake that is awesome, farmers do tend to know a lot about this birthing lark! Will keep a metaphorical eye out ...or find a mirror :)

juniper I think you have good grounds for being easily worried/nurotic, must have been awful for your sister But well done for checking regulalry, that is all you can do, and keep fingers crossed. It is awful when such things happen, but try not to worry too much, although i know that is easier said than done.

Thinking of you jenni 10 days of contractions must be so frustrating and tiring!

Hope all is well fl0 am amazed at the range of experiences everyone is having. They didn't explain all this variety at the antenatal classes!!!!

ION I think I need to start finding things to do at 3 in the morning, this is getting rediculous (although am intrigued by the accurateness of my body clock to always wake at about 3am)

frogchops · 26/08/2013 04:18

I'm hopeful for a new school year birth too. With my bday being yesterday I was always the youngest and it was annoying that all my September friends could drive/drink/get jobs etc a year before me. Am happy that my bday has come and gone...I already share it with my cousin.

fl0b0t · 26/08/2013 09:47

Things quietened down last night and feeling fine this morning. All so complicated! Juniper in nor surprised you're a little jumpy and baby's give as good as they get in the poking territory!

Congrats to Cheesestraw! I spent yesterday afternoon halfway up a hill watching DH ('helped' by DS1 and DS2) do some archeological test-pitting! It felt a little bit risky but seemed better than being at home by myself while DH was halfway up a hill with no mobile reception. Still, this tempting of fate came to nought. Despite last night having a sudden urge to finish up some jobs I'd been putting off. Nothing doing. Feeling mildly unwell today but I think tihs is just because I was up for a bit in the night with a headache. 39 weeks today.

Readytosettle · 26/08/2013 11:46

Did u have a big meal Flo? I've been up all night in agony with indigestion before (not the sort that gaviscon can solve!) so that may have been the cause...

LotsaTuddles · 26/08/2013 11:52

Mine doesn't kick every hour. But if I feel a bit like it hasn't moved in a while, I just rub it's back (which it constantly feels the need to push out my side) and it moves (or not, then I try prodding and it prods back pretty spectacularly).

Still getting slight contractions. They are starting at the bottom and working their way up my bump, no higher than just above my belly button though. Some are stronger than others but not getting any higher

Kittenkatzen · 26/08/2013 12:16

Glad you're feeling better this morning fl0, must have been a worry being away from home like that.

Also hoping for a new school year birth here....am 37+4 today so hopefully should be fine. Have to say I'm now soooo pleased to be on mat leave, although finding it quite frustrating that there are so many things I want to do, but everything just completely knackers me out!

badguider · 26/08/2013 12:36

I am sooooo glad we don't have the school year thing in Scotland. Cut off here is end of February but if you have a Jan or Feb birthday you can choose to defer. For us early September birthdays are about middle of the year.

My baby doesn't move anything like every hour so I bought a count the kicks wristband. I move the thingy each movement and he does about 24 in the time I'm awake (about 8am to 10pm) which is plenty to be healthy but not a lot for monitoring. He's really still in the mornings and when I'm moving around a lot so this morning for example I've only felt 2-3 wriggles since I got up at 9. Without the wristband I'd be very worried and having to eat haribos all the time (sugar seems to get him going).

fl0b0t · 26/08/2013 12:39

ready I'd decided not to eat too much as I had stuffed myself the night before. Didn't finish any of the three swanky hotel small courses and the pain didn't kick in properly until about two hours after i had eaten! Otherwise I'd assume bad indigestion.

Hurrah for some new babies on fb today :)

Have updated the stats list but can't find cheesestraw's EDD etc. - did she change name?

EmmaDee · 26/08/2013 13:45

Hi all, congrats to all the mummies! I am so jelous, can't wait to meet baby d!

I decided to do house work today but its a nightmare, I did all my cleaning and had to rest for an hour, and nowiI've done half the hoovering, and my pelvis feels like it may break, I'm lying down before I tackle the rest, but I wanted to do the windows as well. Ugh.

Derpess · 26/08/2013 14:08

Congrats Cheese 😃

badguider · 26/08/2013 14:11

More updates on the stats list for anybody not on fb! Grin

frogchops · 26/08/2013 14:39

Lots of new lovely babies! Particularly excited to here of the babies who are firsts coming early (every know it all mw suggests a first baby WILL come late)
Two (I think) little ones born on my birthday too Smile
DP is taking me out today, well in a minute....and I've no idea where too. Exciting!
Also completely unrelated I've just had a vision of me being the only one having not had my baby come the end of sept....and everyone else being too busy to come onto the thread, meaning I have no one to share my lovely baby news with! Pregnancy paranoia/weirdness!

Joskar · 26/08/2013 15:03

having to eat Haribo doesn't sound too bad. I think you should just in case, badguider!

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 26/08/2013 15:20

Three girls I think in the last day or two! Lovely! Congratulations mummies. I think we should call the next thread a sort of combination ante/postnatal thread and then once we have tipped the balance, everybody come into the postnatal thread even if baby not quite out yet.

We went out this morning to the swimming pool which felt great - I was really quite mobile and although I only lasted 40 minutes (most if which was larking about in the baby pool with DS) it was really good to get out and do stuff. And we got a family membership thing so we will definitely be going when this baby is old enough (after 6 week jabs I think).

Yesterday evening I slightly less advisedly did some gardening (is it still nesting when it's outside?!) and my hips and back didn't like it. Tried to nap after swimming today but couldn't get off. So I sat and read some more, I've now got through Call The Midwife and One Day in less than a week. Both of which made me cry rather a lot.

Think we're about to go out again to a funfair, I'm hoping that the combination of another cheeky dtd at "nap time" and the walking around will get that cervix ripe and ready. Cos I'm on my second to last raspberry leaf capsule of the bottle and I don't want to open the next one...

Mooster1709 · 26/08/2013 16:06

Massive congratulations cheese! And thanks for finding the time to give us first-timers some labour info.

Also trying to hang on until 1st sep, and right now that seems perfectly possible. No rumblings at all, and due date is 29th.

Pelvic pain has suddenly got so much worse over the last couple of days though - can't remember who said it on previous page of thread but YY to moving from sitting to standing being agony, and hobbling for about 10 minutes each time I start trying to move.

juniper I'm not surprised you're anxious. I'm paranoid about movements and don't have anything like as good a reason as you.

Just got back from lovely night away in Oxford - final fling as present from DH. But went to gorgeous French restaurant where I could only eat about two things off the menu. Will be so so pleased when rare meat and seafood are options again...
