Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

MrsV our taps at work in the bathroom only produce hot water Hmm.
Not sure how people would feel about me soaking my feet in the kitchen sink.

MrsG reusable cool gel pads? I WANT SOME! I may have to google.

Hi all, hope your all having a lovely and not too hot day.
Had a scan in the morning and saw the little sproglet, she/he even waved and DP is convinced he/she has my nose. As such he thinks it's a girl. Was dated at 13weeks, am glad to get the scary first trimester out of the way. It was so reassuring after the panic over the spotting. I am a little worried as my ethnic background (British Indian) and history of anaemia has been flagged up as a risk for thalassemia so am getting extra blood tests to investigate it. it came up in my first pg but wasn't considered a risk so am wondering why it's come up again? Hopefully, sproglet will be ok as DP is Irish and DS is healthy.

then we went shopping in Belfast to calm my frazzled nerves and I got my new handbag at last, DS got a frankenweenie toy (I couldn't say no, he was hugging and kissing it) and sproglet got a little babygro and hat. Lovely day overall, going to order a Chinese and be lazy.

rosalux · 17/07/2013 18:33

Frizz and Humpty thank you for your comments. I've had a really bad day today with the heat and the sickness, not sure if I've actually made myself ill through worry/stress, but have come to the conclusion that there is actually nothing I can/will do so I just have to focus on the positives. I know others have it so much worse and my heart goes out to Keski. Need to go and lie down now before I throw up.

lovelilies · 17/07/2013 19:15

Evening ladies,
The CVS came back clear for DS. But now I'm worrying about the 1/100 chance of m/c!! Sad
Been signed off work for the week with stress so just going ti take it easy mainly and relax in the garden while dd at school for 2 more days.
Thinking of you kes

lovelilies · 17/07/2013 19:18

We still need a foetal echocardiogram at ,18-20 weeks. not too worried about that though.

TarkaTheOtter · 17/07/2013 19:18

lovelilies congratulations on the test result! Have they told you how long you have to worry for, I thought the risks were pretty immediate.

Penny31 · 17/07/2013 19:58

lovelilies that's great news!

lovelilies · 17/07/2013 20:14

Risk of m/c for up to 6 weeks after Sad
Also terrified myself googling it and finding forums where people m/c'd at 19 & 20 weeks following CVS.... stupid stupid girl!!!

TarkaTheOtter · 17/07/2013 20:17

Stop googling! I think there is always a risk of miscarriage/still birth. I wouldn't be surprised if the background risk rate wasn't close to 1/100 anyway between 14-20 weeks.

lovelilies · 17/07/2013 20:28

Thanks tarka as has been said a million times before, and will need to be said a million more times...
STEP AWAY FROM THE GOOGLE!!! Grin

Bikey86 · 17/07/2013 21:06

Had my first scan today, all went well. Baby was sucking its thumb and moving around lots. It was lovely. They've moved my dates forward a week so I'm now 13+4 :) feel much more relaxed now I've seen baby. Just waiting on NT test results, sonographer didn't tell me the measurement as she said the measurement was meaningless without the blood results...???

MrsVDB · 17/07/2013 21:15

That's great love a 1% chance is very low

Great news on the scan bikey

sarahleanne · 17/07/2013 21:40

lovelilies · 17/07/2013 22:03

Family life is HARD WORK I don't care what anyone says, but the most rewarding Grin

lovelilies · 17/07/2013 22:04

Thanks mrsV
There's never nothing to worry about!!! Smile

VeryHappyMama · 18/07/2013 07:02

Hi I hope everyone is feeling well today. Have finally caught up on this thread. Was determined to read everyone's posts before posting myself and have just got there (though have mostly forgotten who said what)...

Lovelilies am glad your CVS was clear and hope you are getting some rest now.

I had my first scan yesterday and unlike everyone else I was taken back a day so now 12 + 5 instead of 12 + 6
My NT was 1.8 so just waiting for the bloods now, though we have now announced our pregnancy to everyone. Was such a relief to see baby and that there is a heartbeat and so far everything seems well. I have been very panicky about the scan so feeling a lot more positive now Smile

I had quite a long scan because Baby (must think of a cute name for it lol) was very uncooperative during the scan and wouldn't move for the NT measurements apart from to flip round completly so the sonographer still couldn't see the right bit. Then just after she said she would have to give up and just do the routine checks baby moved to the perfect position lol

Looks like another hot day today hope everyone manages to keep cool

TarkaTheOtter · 18/07/2013 08:13

Urghh so I get up early (after dd was up for 3 hours in the night) and race down to the hospital to be first in the queue for my Glucose Tolerance test... And I'm number 5. Which means they probably won't take the first set of bloods til gone 8.30, second set after 10.30. So earliest I will be able to eat is 11.00. Have fasted since 10pm last night.

So grumpy and nauseous.

TarkaTheOtter · 18/07/2013 08:49

Just to add to my tale of woe... They couldn't take blood from my arm as I was too dehydrated (although they had two attempts), so they took it from my hand which hurt.

Then they decided they couldn't give me the sugary drink as I have impaired fasting glucose and it might send my levels too high, so they are waiting for the results to come back from the first test. Which should take an hour. Then they'll give me the drink. Then two hours later they will take blood again. Then finally I can EAT.

TarkaTheOtter · 18/07/2013 08:58

Sorry for the spamming... I am very bored.

There is a women in the waiting room with the most incredible bizarre tattoos of her baby girls heads on each of her upper arms. They must be about 15cm tall and (because they look about 6months old) both babies look exactly the same. Names underneath are different though. Interestingly the child she has with her is a boy so I wonder where his picture is. Confused maybe she started on her legs?

enormouse · 18/07/2013 09:02

tarkayou poor thing. I've had blood taken from my hand, it's not pleasant.

From what it sounds like, you should be done in time for lunch? I'd go and get something nice and have a mini blow out.

Those tattoos sound odd different interesting.

keskiviikko · 18/07/2013 10:21

Oh love, step away from the google! I thought having the test was worth the 1 in 100 risk, just to find out! Not much help, but what will be will be. I'm sure you'll be fine. Glad the result was a good one. I get mine tomorrow, can't wait. It's been a stressful 3 weeks.

Tarka they quiet often have to take blood out of my hand! I can come out of the doctors surgery looking like a full time herion addict from the number of puncture wounds and tourneque marks Wink

MrsAVB · 18/07/2013 11:11
