Just a super quick update, I got married on Saturday! It was the most wonderful day. Truly amazing to be surrounded by loving friends and family to tie the knot.

And at the end of his speech DH outed us and our news (didn't know that was the plan, so had minor palpitations!) the overwhelming reaction from family was lovely and I'm glad we shared. The whole room was in tears.

I'm typing from my honeymoon ( 5am jet lag Internet browsing) so I'll stop and try to catch another hour's sleep.

Managed to book my scan I for my first day back from honeymoon. So excited/overwhelmed/nervous/happy.

Night/have a fun afternoon!

misskatamari · 15/07/2013 13:07

Awwww congratulations! I bet your guests were thrilled with your news! Have a fantastic honeymoon! Grin

thisisfreakingmeout what a way to announce your news!! Makes my worries about telling my mum and dad over a cuppa rather insignificant... Hope you have an amazing honeymoon and get to indulge in some R&R before 2014 hits with a bang!

vix so glad your scan went well!

sunflowered you and are are almost DD buddies. I've got my booking in appt next weds (when I'll be 10 by my dates, 9+4 by the GP's). Hoping I can book my scan asap after!

Feeling rather bloated and large of tummy today. Am wearing floaty summer dress but not sure I can keep holding my tummy in all the time!

jazzcat28 · 15/07/2013 13:25

Forgot to add 8+2 today Smile

DawnOfTheDee · 15/07/2013 13:28

When does pregnancy brain kick in? Turned up for mw appointment today an hour late. I had got it into my head it was at 11.15am but actually it was 10.15am. Felt like a right pranny. Then I rebooked for next week....when i'm away for a wedding. Durrrrr...... Am going to wait till tomorrow and hope a different lady is on reception. I can't face the same woman again today.....Blush

gnittinggnome · 15/07/2013 13:36

vix hurray! Good news Smile

My own appt was great, a really friendly MW, lots of good feedback and positivity. It turns out I'm heavier than I first suspected, and whilst I haven't put weight on in the past 8 weeks, I was lighter when I first went to the GP, so I am now in the "properly overweight" category. Boo. I started to explain that I wanted to lose weight first but didn't want to put off ttc as it could take a while, and she just shushed me and said "don't worry about that now, just focus on enjoying this, and thrive". I have now decided that "thrive" is my new anti-anxiety mantra - I like all the connotations of it! However, in RL I now have to have blood glucose tests every appt, which will only be bearable if she is taking the bloods, as she was only the second person ever to tap a vein right off. Right, off to the gym!

lyndsey90 · 15/07/2013 14:41

Off for ny booking at 4, fun stuff!

9+2

misskatamari · 15/07/2013 15:02

Good on your for gymming gnitting! I've been about 3 times since finding out I'm pregnant as I've just been too sick/exhausted! I really wanted to be slimmer before getting pregnant - I'm not big but 14/16 and some wobbly bits - I was all ready for a big health kick after my 30th bday in may (didn't quite manage before) and about 3 days later found out I was pregnant lol!

At work they started doing staff insanity too (the crazy high intensity DVDs) which I would have loved to do (and no doubt be super buff in no time Wink) but not the best idea when pregnant alas. I'm sure I will probably end up the size of a house being pregnant but hopefully will be able to start exercising more soon to try and stave it off!

With the blood glucose test will you have to have a proper blood test dya think or will it be a finger prick test which wouldn't be as bad.

laura0007 · 15/07/2013 15:12

Dawn my baby brain has already kicked in. Took two wrong turns on the way to take my boss to the airport this morning and its a route I do a lot!

Vix congratulations on your scan. It's amazing seeing the baby on the screen isn't it.

Thisisfreaking wow!!! That must have been so great. Wish I was there! Happy honeymoon

11 weeks today Smile

tinypolkadot · 15/07/2013 15:53

Great news about your scan vix

What a lovely story thisisfreakingmeout and congratulations on your wedding! I was also at a wedding on Saturday ? it was a beautiful weekend for it!

I had my booking in appointment today, had my 7 vials of blood taken and all in all it took 2 hours! I was being seen in-between women in an anti-natal clinic, but it was lovely to sit there and coo at all the little babies thinking that will be me soon!

MIL came with me as dh is away with work. Not sure if I?ve mentioned this on here yet or not, but they?re going on holiday for a month and baby is due right slap bang in the middle of when they?re away. She jokingly said I can?t have it until they get back ? the only way that?s going to happen is if I?m 2 weeks late or at least 2 weeks early! They booked the holiday before we told them, but can?t help but feel a bit upset they aren?t even considering trying to change the dates. Sad

12 week scan on the 23rd ? one week tomorrow and counting Smile

10+6 today

misskatamari · 15/07/2013 16:24

Glad your appointment went well Tiny! The bloods sound a lot tho - you're very brave! It's good that you're close to you MIL - I know plenty of people who would be rejoicing that there's might be away when they gave birth Wink it's disappointing they might not be there for it, but try to think of it as a time for you and DH to spend bonding as a new family without having to worry about visitors wanting baby time etc Smile

Gosh I am soooo exhausted today it's crazy! Hope I bloody sleep tonight as I'm like a zombie. Also this is really weird but i can see my pulse in my belly! Obviously it's nothing to do with baby but its just weird - maybe it's cos there's lots more blood flowing to the area than normal? Or my belly has just gotten so fat that my heart beat makes it wobble Confused very odd indeed!

gnittinggnome · 15/07/2013 16:56

missk they took a lot of vials of blood, and the MW said that for the blood glucose test they take a regular blood sample and then give you a sugary drink, wait a bit, and then take more blood, presumably to see how your insulin response is. I don't think it's going to be a pin prick :-(

And I also get the pulse in my belly - it's a little freaky! But then, as you say, lots of extra blood and fluids knocking around, am hoping it's that and not just being plump!

tinypolkadot · 15/07/2013 16:57

Thanks misskatamari you?re right ? I should be trying to look at the positives! I just can?t help but feel that because this is the 5th grandchild that they aren?t as bothered ? I?m sure I?m wrong though. Hormones messing with my head!

I have always had a pulse in my stomach (and it?s always freaked me out) when I went to get my belly button pierced when I was 16 the piercer literally jumped backwards! It?s weird though, since I?ve been pregnant, especially the last couple of weeks, it?s almost as if I can feel my belly pulsing round the baby ? it?s probably just in my head though. Have you noticed your heart rate has increased too? When I?m sat still and quiet my pulse feels like I?ve been working out when I most definitely haven?t!

ch1134 · 15/07/2013 17:15

Now 11 and 1/2 weeks and had no symptoms since the tiredness stopped at about 8 weeks... scan isn't for another week and a half... starting to wonder if I made it all up? Had a hot and frustrating day at work - would love a glass of wine! Haven't told anyone yet - holding out for the scan... hope it all goes well!

laura0007 · 15/07/2013 17:23

Ch1134 I was exactly the same. All symptoms stopped around 8 weeks and I in no way feel pregnant. I had my scan last week at 10+4 and there was a little baby doing somersaults on the screen! Be positive! It will come around soon then you will wonder what you were ever worried about! Smile

Ruggle · 15/07/2013 17:25

My colleague has guessed. She said "I've had three you know!". She noticed me putting my hand on my belly quite a lot, and apparently that's a real giveaway.

I managed to get through all 4 performances of my opera without throwing up or fainting (and it was tremendously hot!)....but now that it's over I have no idea where I got the energy from to do it. I am shattered, and struggling to stay awake at work. Haven't been sleeping much for the past 5 weeks. At least the nausea has gone away (...unless I think about lentils).

First midwife appointment is this Saturday, and scan is 1st August. I think that's when it will sink in....that there's a little person in there...

9+3

ch1134 · 15/07/2013 17:34

thanks Laura

misskatamari · 15/07/2013 18:26

Wow well done Ruggle - that must have been so bloody hard - I applaud you! I hadn't realised but most of my food aversions have gone away too, god they were weird! Glad you're feeling less sick, hopefully the exhaustion will ease soon too.

ch1134 i'm sure your scan will be here in no time and you'll see your little baby waving at you. I know its hard not to worry when there's no visible evidence that you're pregnant yet.

Somanychanges · 15/07/2013 19:32

Hi everyone,
Well done Ruggles on the opera.

I have good and bad news, the bad is that I've been admired to hospital to be put on IV fluids and meds for HG.

The good is that they said they will give me a scan in the morning, so I will get to see my little bean, yey!. I am feeling much better already. I have had 3 bags of fluid already and I really must of needed it after all the vomiting.

I think having the anti sickness meds through IV works much better also.

Hope everyone is well and not too hot.

8+1

Somanychanges · 15/07/2013 19:33

-Admitted- not admired oops haha!

Wow - it's been busy today!

Congratulations thisisfreakingmeout - what a gorgeous day to get married. I hope you have a fab honeymoon.

vix glad your scan went well Smile

gnitting I'll be your gym buddy if you like... My bmi's gone up from 26 to 29 in the last 10 weeks so will be digging out my gym card this week. Oops... I'm a bit bruised from the bloods - 3 midwives couldnt find a vein then the phlebotomist needed two goes before she got anything Sad

jazzcat I'll count down the days with you come february but I'll put good money on being at least a week late if it's passed down maternally!

I hope I got the right names... There's a lot to remember today.

misskatamari · 15/07/2013 19:59

Oh no Somany, that sucks about being admitted but also great that you're feeling better and that you'll get a scan Grin

Sorry you're having a bad day again Champagne. I don't know how you guys are coping with HG, it just sounds so awful. Being sick a few times a day was bad enough for me. I really hope it gets better for you both soon!
